This movie portrayed Miguel as a really dark person but it's because he's lost so much as Spiderman. I can understand his pain since he lost his daughter.
You know, to me, he went from a well-known and compassioned comic book superhero to a despicable, cruel and highly short-tempered sociopath that shows no sympathy nor mercy to his victims or even the people that an actual hero should save, not just everyone but also their loved ones and he's willing to brutally go after and probably kill him after "puss-in-boots death horror style" for an innocent, harmless 15 year old that does not have anything with any of this madness, he's just trying to be himself. Now that's a horrible interpretation of a beloved Spiderman and I don't care if he's doing all of this because of his late daughter, in contrast, this movie ruined Spiderman 2099! As for gwen on the other hand, I think she regretted betrayed Miles and that she trusted on the wrong people who hurted Miles both emotionally and physically, But she'll definitely be forgiven by him and that's why she set up a hole team to find him.
@@Thiago_Animation_Yt_2003 *very long character essay lol* I really think you’re missing a lot of the subtle details they added in for his character, you’re completely missing the depth. I’d would watch the movie again, and look closer. It’s like you didn’t pay attention. First, he definitely is a depressed, sarcastic asshole in the comics. That’s like his whole thing. Second, in the movie, he is very well characterized. You can tell that the writers really did their research for him, and put a lot of care and effort into his character. He has lots of moments where he isn’t just being a paranoid asshole. His introduction, the scene where he’s explaining the canon to Miles, when he’s arguing with Peter and Hobie, the multiple characters that look up to him as a mentor and possible father type figure, that he’s unintentionally funny and just as nerdy as the other Spider people. He tears up at Miles saying he can’t let his dad die, he’s on the verge of a panic attack scared about another dimension collapsing when attacking Miles on the train, everything he says to Miles is what he thinks about himself. You can literally see it in his face when he says it. He literally says, “I have been the only thing holding it all together, me!” Miguel has put the job of saving everyone in the entire multiverse on himself, which is literally an impossible job, an impossible thing for anyone to be able do. He’s literally overextending, overworking himself to death for an impossible task that he put on himself as a punishment. Projecting his self hatred, fear, and guilt onto Miles and the others. He’s afraid of letting more people die like he did with the other dimension that collapsed, that was his fault. He’s afraid of people dying and him being at fault again, of being wrong, of the Spider Society knowing he is wrong, of the possibility of not knowing if is so the canon has to be right. In his head, if he lets Miles “break canon” billions of people will die and an entire world destroyed. And it’ll be his fault again. It’s the only thing that he can cling onto after losing so much, after being the person he was before, after losing so many people and going through so much (in the comics and movie). He’s scared and terrified, and the way he’s coping with it isn’t healthy, which is something we’ve seen from comic Miguel before. He thinks what he is doing is right, but he just punishing himself and those around him for his self hatred and trauma in an attempt to keep as many people alive as possible to make up for what he did. And yes, he’s unfairly projecting it onto Miles, so he has not only become a danger to himself but to others around him. They did Miguel perfect and I can’t wait to see them have him confront his issues and being wrong in the next movie. I love Miguel’s character, I’ve loved Spiderman 2099 even since I was little and I really do think the movie did good with him
He IS wrong though, if his theory of canon events is true (based off of one single event he had) why is universe 42 in tact or 616-b or even 1610? Miles wasnt supposed to be spider-man; peter wasnt supposed to die and peter B. parker wasnt supposed to have a kid. So every canon regarding their universes are broken. How are they still there? Simple answer is Miguel is wrong, and it is simply all Spots fault. Even before he became the spot it was all his fault.
what i like most about this character is that he is committed. the viewer is let to believe that he would stop at nothing to protect the balance of the multiverse and he'd kill miles to avoid any more anomalies
Thing is, if he was the main character of this movie, you'd say he was right and Miles was shocking wrong....and that just shows how well done the writing is, because you want them BOTH to be in the right.
Miguel is what happens when Spider-Man loses too much. Miguel wasn't always like this I'm sure he wasn't, we've seen variations of him in games and comics being the quip-loving bad guy beater as every Spider-Man is But Miguel is just the perfect example of what happens when a Spider-Man is pushed too far, he maybe did once believe you could save everyone but he's experienced losing people, he doesn't want that to happen again, to anyone. People call him a villain, but a villain is someone who is out to kill, harm, cause destruction be the anti-force of what the hero is. But miguel doesn't do any of that, Miguel has a firm belief he is doing the right thing, he understands where Miles is coming from but he knows that he can't risk the lives of everyone else just because this kid wants to save his dad. Miles is willing to take that risk, to take that leap of faith he was taught, but Miguel is not willing to watch people lose like he has
Finally someone who matches my opinion of him... Thats the kinda cute thing of its personality.... for me, he is a fusion of Asgore and Toriel from Undertale... Toriel didnt want to take the risk of letting another child die, and for Asgore's side, he was doing only the right thing for the whole underground people, to set them free, nothing more.... And Miguel escence its a fusion of both, hes only doing the greater good, just like Asgore did thought he was doing, and also its as scared as Toriel of losing more unuverses and killing thousands of innocents in the process, just like Toriel with Frisk by not letting them go at first...
I mean, a lot can happen in a year! We saw how Miguel was very charismatic and fun with Lyla in ITSV, but I’m pretty sure what he went through throughout the year was pretty recent, so it hurts even more, especially with where Miles is coming from.
@@victorcapote7376 I mean in Into the Spiderverse we see him having a prototype of the dimension travelling It's unlikely but maybe between Into and Across, he lost his daughter and experienced all that made him like this or perhaps it was just a mistake on the creators part, it's possible they hadn't planned for Miguel to be the villain and changed him between films
@@Cami_22099 bruh did you wathc the movie it literally explained how miguel broke the canon by popping in a verse where miguel dies and he then lives with his family which die off because he breaks the canon
@@Pinakiprime910 I know, I watched the film, I’m not denying that I’m just saying that at the end credits scene in Into the spider verse, Miguel looks a lot different to what he does here So maybe the creators decided to change him between the films or something
Not really. Since his real goal is saving as many people as possible. He'll only Not save you if he can save even more lives by not doing so. In any other situation he priorities saving lives over completing his mission.
@@PhenomLightyeah idk it seems everyone is missing the point of his character and making him out to be some villain anti hero dark gritty being of some sort
So much of the fandom will neglect to bring attention about this side of him because he's attractive, but he's such a chilling character with unwavering values and this edit really brings it out
never was much of a spidey fan but seeing him and how he’s similar to batman def made him my fav. the focus, dedication, darkness, trauma, and the burden he has put on himself to be responsible of multiple universes is very much that atonement and punishment batman has on himself. miguel is an outlier with other spideys
The worst part is that it's all not even Miles' fault... it's Gwen's. Essentially Miles' universe had already being stabilized even if it came at the cost of another, but ultimately, it was Gwen not stopping Spot and ignoring her mission that let Spot damage the spider-verse even further. While they would still have to deal with returning everyone to their respective universe, and fixing the spider-verse as much as they could, Gwen ignoring Spot to hang out with Miles is what ultimately leads to the current set of events, yet Miles is taking all the heat. I don't hate Gwen or anything, but I'm not gonna lie, this one's kinda on her.
One thing that's overlooked about miguel is that while the audio described it well and so did the movie, that he is about the mission right. But he does joke around and have a good time only and only once the mission is over and the problem is resolved
@@Skalesthegoatyea that's true cus he is a bit younger in the comics and has lost less but in the next movie he might come around and be a bit more jokey at the end of the movie, cus he can finally relax yk
I hope he will get a redemption arc in the next movie because this is not the same Miguel O’Hara I saw in Spiderman games Shattered Dimensions and Edge of time. Thanks to these games he became one of my favorite Spiderman versions.
@@ma.2089miguel isn’t an anomaly bro. he was made into spider-man from his universe. there was no outside influence. miles is an anomaly, he was bit by a spider not from his universe. it’s that simple
@@samsonoke1765 People don't have to be bit by a spider to be part of canon. For example Ben Reily is a clone but hes still considered a canon spider. Miguel isn't an anomaly, and I have no idea where you got that conclusion from.
@@sleepdeprived7879 Since we are speaking English then I don’t have to define what the word “Anomaly” is. A clone is also an anomaly. The process of Miguel becoming Spiderman was just as ‘artificially’ influenced as Miles’ process was
Honestly i really hope that if they prove canon events wrong then they gotta have a sort-of conclusion to give miguel a happy life cause bros been through enough and he has been demonized enough bro
Here's the thing tho, even if Miguel's theory is complete baloney, there's no way I am trusting a 15 year old who can't juggle between school and heroing and ends up failing in both over someone who has gone through universe destruction and has some sort of 'knowledge' about the multiverse.
He's doing just that, but there's probably more to the story than he knows, so they'll probably find another way since while to Miguel the universe of Indian spiderman was getting destroyed bc of the canon change we saw the hole originating from the spot, and Gwen's father just resigned from chief without consequences, so there has to be another factor other than canon events behind Miguel's universe's destruction.
What miguel did is he save his daughter from different universe, thats why that universe broken Gwen save her father in her own universe, and its just fine, i know we still dont know is that gwen's father death is canon event or not, but as far as we know for now, she save her own universe and her father And there is a possibility miles can save his dad in his own universe This is something that miguel doesnt try, i hate a cunt that weak and fear to try something If i in miles possition, i could save my father with any cost
Okay so the speech part is from my fav Robin who I was super obsessed with and now I’m obsessed with Miguel. So that fact that the two are in this is amazing hahaha. 😂❤
Miguel thought the same as the good doctor strange in "what if..? Ep.3" . But he was a hero to us in that universe . While the sinister strange wanted to things just like miles .
@@Beeschurger_ but would you risk it for a theory? He experienced it first hand and other spiders can vouch for him like what he said to gwen "do you wanna find out?"
I really hope they go into at least a little more detail into how they've managed to save universes in the past though, they say that they haven't always been lucky with saving universes but that implies that they have been lucky with repairing a collapsing universe. We a saw a little bit about it but I'm still curious about the limit to what you can save.
