"The Great One" Jackie Gleason guest stars on this fantastic Eps hosted by Garry Moore! The Panel is Bill Cullen, Jayne Meadows, Henry Morgan with Guest Panelist Josephine Hull (For Faye Emerson) (Eps courtesy of Ron Gomes)
Jayne Meadows could hold her own with any of the women on Jackie Gleason's panel. Back then no one knew how bad smoking was for you obviously. Thanks for the video.
alexa penn I love seeing how he treated each guest. Weather it was a little old lady or a small child or a teenager or collage student. He always approached talking to them in just the perfect manner. He never condescended in talking to small kids or older folks. He really was a gem of a host.
It just floors me when he gives the elderly lady a carton of Winstons as a high-school graduation gift. Tobacco company sponsorship was a strange, strange thing.
Winston was the show’s main sponsor. It’s said he was contractually obligated to smoke on every episode of the show. 💨 (Later, he had throat cancer, then died of emphysema.)
Gleason was 39 here and looking dapper . i am sure that he knew Ms. Meadows well since he employed her little sister and knew also about her sisters frustrations about Gleasons lack of rehearsal for the Honey mooners skit . He did require for the June Taylor dancers to rehearse .
Jackie definitely has to be taken in the context of the time. I always had issues with The Honeymooners, but he did so many other things. Watch him on stage in theatre...
@@keetrandling4530 It's true, Jackie did a great many other things. From the early 50s to the late 60s, The Great One conducted albums of easy-listening music!
