I remember my teacher giving my class a paper with the lyrics to this song, putting the song on for us to sing to, and having to restart the song every twenty seconds cause we just couldn’t get it right. Brings back so many memories!
I´m mexican and I lived in Canada for one year and a half, I miss Cnada so much as if it was my real home. I think your home is where you feel more happy. Great song
I remember they played this in my school assembly back when I was in kindergarten. That was nearly 13 years ago. Good memories. Those were the days :,)
OMG this song brings tears to my eyes I remember listening to this in grade 1 all hyped up jumping and singing and now I am lying on my bed listening to this song
This song used to play in my old school for an assembly one time, I couldn't remember most lyrics, this song brings back memories, I was singing this yesterday while visiting my friend, we were both singing it yesterday
Hello from below (U.S.) I really appreciate a lot about Canadian music, culture, and much more. I do hope to come up and visit your beautiful country some day. 😄 Songs about Canada always sound so happy. Oh, and what I wouldn't give to see the northern lights ❤️
Well I am too old for this to have been a part of my youth but let a more ancient person assure you that eventually you realize the only thing you get too old for is the notion you can be too old for something you love.
remember when everyone in elementary school would sing this on Canada day and other holiday We are growing,we are just having fun and not noticing it 😔
The loon bird, oh the loon bird is a beautiful sight to see He lives and swims and fishes in the north under tall pine trees. He has dark, spotted feathers and a long, straight fishing beak. Oh listen for his vocals if it's that bird you seek.
@@Aglaceon100 The polar bear oh the polar bear is a beautiful sight to see She roams the arctic landscape She swims the icy seas. Crowned by the auroras A most breath taking scene Of all of Canada's animals I'd say that she's the queen.
Did anyone else's school ALWAYS have the song skip on nickel? It was A penny and a nickel and a nickel and a nickel, and a quarter and a dime. I asked my friends from other schools and they had the same thing lol
I remember singing this song when I lived in Canada in elementary school. I had many happy memories in Canada. I still think of Canada as my second home. It's been ten years since I came to Korea. I got nostalgia:p
Since the penny is no longer in use, here is an updated version of this song... Chorus: I've got Canada in my pocket A little bit of history A loonie, toonie, nickel, And a quarter and a dime Mean a lot to you and me It's more than pocket money They're the symbols of our land They're pictures of important things For which this country stands Verse 1: The beaver, the beaver Is a beautiful sight to see He's a happy, furry animal Like a teddy bear with teeth He's never ever lazy He works all night and day Building houses for his family He's got no time to play Chorus: Verse 2: The schooner, the schooner Is a beautiful sight to see It's a great big wooden sailing ship That can sail across the sea It brings to other countries The things their people need And brings back things like chocolate bars And books for us to read Chorus Verse 3 The caribou, the caribou Is a beautiful sight to see He's a really big strong animal I'm sure you'll all agree He looks like Santa's reindeer And he loves it when the wind blows cold So he lives up north with the polar bears 'Cause he likes the ice and snow Chorus: Verse 4 The loon, the loon Is a beautiful sight to see They live on lakes all over our land They mean a lot to you and me They're rugged, smart, and hardy And their cry, it echoes free They're spread all across our country The true north, strong and free Chorus: Verse 5: The polar bear, the polar bear Is a beautiful sight to see He lives way up in the arctic And he swims in the deep blue sea He's a symbol of our country He's majestic, strong, and free And if you see a polar bear Then climb a great big tree Chorus (2x):
I heard this many years ago in ESL summer school, its the first song I recorded with a Chinese dictionary translator and playing it off RU-vid, good old times.
