I’ve been trading properly for about 6 months now. Had some huge loses where I’ve over-staked at short odds for a goal, only for a match to finish 0-0 or no further goals come. Biggest lessons I’ve learnt in my time; Concentrate on 1 sport (Football too) and 1-2 strategies primarily the over goals markets for me. I’ve made good money in a day just from trading 2 matches. Also psychology plays a massive part of being profitable, more so than actual strategies I’d say. Not revenge trading/chasing losses, having discipline and using stop losses, treating trading as a business will have a very positive effect on profit.

This is great advice Oliver, far too many people treat trading like a get rich quick scheme and don't realise the amount of effort which you have to put into it

when ever i see odds at like 1.03 for over 0.5 goals at the start of the match i do smile because i know people are having out right bets on that asuming its a sure thing lol
@Preeno
@Preeno 9 месяцев назад
@@BenjaminK123you’ll notice big spikes on the charts at these odds and that is coming from people laying the O0.5 market taking profit as the match goes on.

my biggest struggle with trading is the psychology, ill start with 1K, be up 200/300 in a few days, get brave and risk more than I should or worse stick around in the market instead of trading out for a loss, even when I know I should, then ill be back to 1K and go on tilt because I'm "down" money but technically I'm just back to square one, blow my load and reset 6 months later. So yeah I need to work on that big time. Great video and content I enjoyed watching. Its a vicious cycle, you win you wanna keep trading, you loose you go on tilt. This is why I enjoy betting because you place your bet and walk away, I can deal with losses when betting but haven't been able to when trading.

Psychology is probably the biggest hurdle that all traders face. It's imperative to try to treat losses in the same way you do wins (which is easier said than done). My advice would be to keep to small stakes until you can better handle the psychology of losing

I’ve been going for around a year or so too, all sounds very familiar haha. I purposefully over-trader to start with to try and learn about different market types etc. it probably cost me a few quid but was all valuable learning. I think it’s good to look at any losses as the cost of learning. Time practising is great and vital, but a lot can be learned from a few genuine traders on YT (but def not the con artists selling their courses). I expect it will take another year or so before I can hope to be consistently profitable, but I’m in for the marathon. Another key lesson is to keep stakes low until you are ready and not get greedy, otherwise it’s a quick way to blow your bank.

Hi JM, I completely agree, stake management is vitally important to sort out in this business.

Hi Kie, I really like your video. I think you have given a really good overview of what to bear in mind when getting into trading. I think for a beginner, especially one who starts trading by themselves (most of us!) the concept of greening up clouds your vision and can lead to overtrading. I think if I were starting out trading again from the beginning, I would focus on the following: Choosing a sport that I have a good understanding of, observing how the markets move in relation to the live match play, research trading strategies (no more than 3), learn risk management with bank size, learn cost per click and test, test, test that strategy until you are sure it's golden. Pretty much what you've said 😀

I have been trading on Betfair for 7-8 years now. The internet in filled with "low hanging fruit" courses and wannabe traders. Its super refreshing to see you online, probably since Cann Berry. You are on point in all aspects that you talked about however i would like to suggest talking about emotional control and psychology of the game ( state of mind of the players). Keep up the good work Kie!

Good video, I've been trading on Betfair for a few months now, and like you wanted to trade everything moving, I did ok, but its a lot better when you focus on one sport and go from there. I stick with Lay The Draw now, using 5% of my bank for trading and trading out when the favourite scores. or if not staying in the trade if the dog scores and it stays that way for the majority of the game or unti lI get a greenscreen.If the score is 0-0 at half time and the odds have dropped but I know there will be goals in the second half, I cash out half time and then re~enter. and certainly have more wins than losses. i was trading the OV2.5 Goals market on lower league games and that was proving costly.My best results have come with Premiership and Championship games.

Another informative video again Kie. I started trading about 2 months ago (like you, coming from a matched betting background). Just can't seem to get the under 2.5 goals right though. Watch game, research goal times etc and trade the market and boom - a goal goes in. I'm getting over the losses by thinking to myself it's what I've gained from MB.
@DaveHayesTV
@DaveHayesTV 2 года назад
@John with the Under 2.5 Goals Market, you back the U2.5 goals for around the first 10~15 Minutes of the game especially if you know the teams playing aren't likely to score in that time period, then cash out when you get to a profit level you are happy with. Its not my favourite trade, but I have done it a couple of times with good results.

Love your videos Kie, I wish more Match Bettors would listen when I tell them how hard trading is anyway and match betting really hinders you rather than helps. The thing 100% most important is mindset, without the right mindset forget trading. I traded full time for a brief period around four years ago but found it too solitary and just didn't like it, then the PC hit and that was that.

Thanks for your honest approach. I’m very new to this having some matched betting experience. A problem I find is trying to learn too much too quickly. It’s just an information overload and works against you. Your point about starting with small stakes is definitely a good one.

Yes, trading is like being a crime detective working out who did the crime before the crime happens,

@@KieMillett Thank you sir, I have been practice trading a long time on horse racing, and actually believe I am profitable now. I dabbled with Football but think you really need to choose one or the other to begin with? Like you I came from a history of match betting also which was like a dream while it lasted. Like your channel and will keep watching and taking an interest! Many thanks,

Kie that was a very informative video . The one that most bettors will relate to is the way they react to losses and especially a cluster of them . The best way I find to handle losses is to just think of them as business expenses . There is no business on the planet that has as little overheads as trading and therefore each loss is just an expense so you can continue to trade . The mindset you really need to acquire is to trade in large sample sizes . The distribution between wins and losses over a small number of trades are completely random but over a large sample size your edge will become apparent and you will be in profit . It’s a probability game . Good luck .

Good video. The most important thing I'd say would be patience. Don't enter markets your not sure of. But when you see an opportunity act. Also have limits each week which you build up. Like a tenner per week. This way you will only every lose a small amount. And bank profits.
@BenjaminK123
@BenjaminK123 2 года назад
i have found to truly not worry about your losses is firstly they need to be controlled as you know in your exit plan, this is why we have set entry/exit points but mainly you need to know what your doing works in the long term then taking a loss is never a problem, its taken me about a year to get to a point where i have no interest in losses ill take losses throughout the day but if you was to ask me at the end of the day what they was i would have no idea as there a bigger process going on only in the last 2 months have i been able to do this and take profits in the long term it really is tough and theres been many times where i wanted to give up but all the hardwork finally pays off now all i tend to trade is over 1.5 markets and 2.5 thats it, i will build up a list of selections then i will watch the inplay action and see if i want to get involved its time consuming and i am only making about £20 to £40 aday so not a huge amount some days ill loss £40 but thats not very offen and again never a problem as the day does not matter only the end of the week or month

@@KieMillett yea I've bet for years mainly horse racing but more on greyhounds - would love to trade greyhounds but markets so all over the place with greyhounds quite often I know what is going to happen in market but it only happens in last 1 min or so before race so its a no go can't get your back and laybets on before race is off

Does it make sense to start out with matched-betting or is it better to skip it altogether because it will result in getting banned by a lot of bookmakers which will hurt the chances of successfully implementing other (longer-lasting) strategies like value-betting?

I want to get into trading but feel like I maybe missing a key element, as it just seems like gambling to me. Getting out early as soon as the Market has swung the way you want it. If it swings the over way, then you have to get out quick and try to minimalize your losses? I suppose that's where the lay element comes in?
@KieMillett
@KieMillett 2 года назад
Trading is a form of gambling, there is no way of getting around that its just a slightly different form of gambling which is slightly less dependant on actual results of sporting events. Something like pre-race horse trading is completely separate from the results.

I would say everything in life is a gamble but you can learn to put the odds in your favor by studying why things occur and positioning yourself accordingly.
