The reason the neck pickup doesn't have a coil split is because the Magna'Tron neck model has amazingly low inductance, around 1.2H. That's well under 50% of a vintage Strat pickup, and around 30% of a vintage low wind PAF. Splitting it would be uselessly thin and low output. The bridge model has a 2.9H inductance, which is around a vintage Strat pickup, and splitting it would bring it down to a little more than the neck model, so it's a reasonable pickup to split, though of course as you can hear, it's crazy bright when split.

My favourite guitar (that I own) is a Fender that's way more Gibson-like than that Strat. The Telecaster FMT HH is, in my humble opinion, the best guitar that Fender's ever made: thin and light, its mahogany body (with flame maple cap -NOT veneer) is resonant, its Seymour Duncan pickups are splitable and its set neck has a lovely, sculpted heel. Add to that the 15.75" fretboard radius, and you've got a very unusual Fender guitar, indeed.
@heathwasson7811
@heathwasson7811 Год назад
I picked on up about a year ago. I've been playing strats, teles, and acoustics (usually Guilds) for 30+ years. Decided I wanted to branch out my sound options and picked up my first Gibson LP a few years back. After 3 decades of playing straight-neck guitars, just couldn't get used to the angled neck on an LP. Specifically, it's the string height off the body I can't stand. So I got rid of the LP and picked up a Tele 72 Thinline Reissue. Cool on its own, but didn't have the LP sound. Then last year I ran across the Tele FMT HH, and snapped it up immediately. It's the absolute perfect LP substitution for the Fender player. Beautiful, sounds great and feels great. A surprisingly good price too, for everything you're getting... Picked up mine new and on sale for $949. The one negative is Fender doesn't even throw in a gig bag, and a guitar like this really deserves a hard case.

The TV Jones pickups are reproductions of Gretsch Filtertrons from the last '50s-early '60s. They were invented by Ray Butts (who also invented the tape echo effect) about the same time Seth Lover was developing humbuckers for Gibson

Depends whether you want to act like a Gibson buyer or a general guitar buyer. Gibson buyers seem to accept QC issues on $3k guitars. General guitar buyers reject that, because every other company charging $3k for their instruments is capable of selling you a perfect one.

@@desert_fisherman na, I have a Vela, aside from the bridge pick up maybe. The Vela is a cool guitar. It’s really barebones, nothing fancy about it. A really good work horse. It’s like top loaded telecaster, mixed with a Gretsch. Mine has a PRS 59/09 in the bridge. So it’s more twang than a regular Vela’s Starla pickup. Which is kinda like a darker filtertron but the single coil on the neck is pure Gretsch 57 duo jet. This strat screams custom 24 or CE 24 to me. The TV Jones are a cool spec on the strat.

Fender's straight-up shot at doing a Gibson LP is the "Fender Custom Telecaster FMT HH". Literally a tele for Fender players who want a Fender feel, but a Gibson sound. Mahogany neck and body with a set neck. Thick genuine flame maple carved top. Dual Seymore Duncan Pickups (a 59 and a Pearly Gates). Doesn't necessarily sound like any particular LP, but 100% sounds like it is an LP of some type.
