Hang in there man, this was great to see as I can relate tremendously. You have good rules and no one really understands what's going on in the background, but you'll have "amazing videos twice a week" or you've suddenly changed and your style is completely different and it'll never be the same again. Trends aren't as short as people think they are. We all have our low times, but when you're expected to put out a video every week it can be quite challenging to put on a facade and pretend like everything's just fine. Keep doing your thing!

The sub loss was from a purge that google did. Their system that removes inactive subs and old accounts glitched. When they found the glitch they fixed and did a huge purge removing inactive subs. It happen to everyone. Keep up the great work really love your videos. :)

It ain't the fanciest thing in the world but if you want to slide over to Birmingham, AL, I've got a 2015 Golf R with a 6 speed, Juice box tune and diesel geek shifter you can throw up on the channel. Nothing spectacular but content is content if you're interested. (Edit: and a CTS Intake but realistically, I think in the Alabama heat, that's only good for hearing cool turbo noises)

The loss of 2500 subs was due to youtube deleting inactive and fake accounts. The loss happened to almost everyone

Whenever I go through phases of depression the best way for me to combat it is exercise. Running is a very good stress reliever and is a great way to escape everyday problems because it doesn't cost anything

I just wanna say that I think it's dumb how some people unsubscribe from a channel just because of a slow period. my channel isn't as big as yours ( 170k subs) but I'm only doing it part time and have a full time job, girlfriend, and a project car so I do try and make quality videos as much as possible but sometimes it's just not feasible. It's free to stay subscribed to someone so for anyone reading this just please don't unsubscribe just because of 1 or 2 modest videos because there will be more awesome videos to come regardless of the channel :)

Dude! Don't worry about the sub loss! Every single RU-vidr lost lots of subs that day (for example, PewDiePie lost 600k), its RU-vid auto deleting spam accounts or something. Sounds like a rough time for you. Have you considered setting up a Patreon page? I think a bit of extra cash for gear or travelling wouldn't hurt.

Damn dude, I really hope things get better for you. I'm struggling too as well, just as I moved to Seattle for school. I've been let go from a job (never have been let go from anything), went through a break up with the person I still feel is the one for me, and totaled my vehicle which I'm now dealing with insurance and lawyers. I feel like life has sucked since I moved here but still am fighting. I just landed a new higher paying job and am saving up for a new vehicle and trying to mature a little. I'm really glad I watched this because it's giving me that much more motivation to keep working!

The 2500 subs lost was nothing, just a glitch on yotube. Many people experienced that, some people even gained 2500 subs instead of losing them, lol.

Hey David, not sure if you're going to read this or if you've ever watched any of our videos... but I just want to say how much you connected with me in this video. The authenticity, the story, the explanation. On May 19th, my girlfriend of 2.5 years broke up with me. The girl I thought I was going to marry, the girl who was by my side from 100 subscribers all the way to 60,000 subscribers. My best friend, my road trip pal, and the love of my life. The only clue was a slightly depressing post I made on Instagram. Other than that.. I was isolated, to everyone else I was fine. My heart began to sink as this video was playing and I was just thinking to myself what are the chances. Our channels are very different, and yours is even more personal than Roads Untraveled. I have a separate channel for vlogs, but your rule about keeping the personal away from RU-vid is something I've had to adhere to as well.I had absolutely no motivation to do anything for weeks after. Subscribers to our channel also left... We didn't put out any big, exciting videos until just yesterday... A month and a half after I was too beginning to feel depressed. What I guess I'm trying to say is that as much as we have control over the content we produce and the message we give out to the car community, it can all disappear in a second, just like you said. There are some things that have the POTENTIAL to ruin me.. but would I ever let that happen? Not in a million years. I think I can relate a bit, I've had so many things go wrong the last few months, video plans falling through, equipment not working right, car breaking, not having time to make any content due to my real job. I feel like I haven't been delivering to my subscribers and that I'm failing them. Basically i feel like I'm in a rut of not being able to keep up my channel and it is really aggravating me. This video kind of sparked the end of the fuse, I'm going to try a lot harder to become more active with better content, I'm done having the setbacks keep me from being a good yotuber. I get a lot of motivation from watching my favorite channels, this one being included, so for that I thank you David

Hey David, Keep your head up man. I know a bit of your struggle. I'm paralyzed in a wheelchair from an accident in 2004 when I was 5. Now I'm struggling to get a job because every time I go into a place they don't want to hire me. And the people who don't mind the chair want experience that I just don't have. I've also had several medical issues including having 17 levels of spinal fusion which means I have 2 titanium rods in my back that go all the way down which causes me a lot of pain. I've also got numerous other issues in my life. I do totally agree with you man that things will get better. I always look up to God and just know that he's in control. As for your car reviews, I live in St. Augustine in the same area where you reviewed the Pontiac Solstice. I have hand controls in my car that make it easy for me to drive. I know it wouldn't make for an incredibly interesting video but it might be cool to show how I get in and out and how the car drives and everything like that even though it's just a Corolla. If you read this just let me know and maybe something can come of it.

I have a 720whp C6 Corvette and a 400+whp 2015 Subaru WRX in North Florida you can check out when I get home from deployment in about 2 months. Just remember it could always be worse. None of those rounds hit you or anything important to you. Cars break but that's the fun part of owning and working on them. Keep up the awesome videos.

This just crossed my mind, and it might add a whole new dimension to your channel. What's your experience with bikes? If you have none, starting small and gradually upsizing will not slow your bike content down (plenty of reviewable 250's and 300's out there, and there's more than just sportbikes). I think the bike world is just as diverse as the car world, and it would be something to look forward to on your channel!

This video kind of hit close to home. I have never been a big RU-vid subscriber but I have always used RU-vid for random videos. But for the longest time, I have watched your videos because of how much cars meant to me. I used to be a tech at Audi and ever since then, I have always been a euro car guy. But because of your channel, my love of cars was restored to all types of cars... from the LS Miata to the Lightning Ford to the 918. But sadly one of my auto buddies moved to North Carolina then my other buddy got a girlfriend and he is working all the time and another buddy is going to school and working on his thesis which is awesome. But I just wish I had more friends in the auto world. I am now happily married with a one year old son and i am just trying to keep my love of cars alive. My wife and I would LOVE to move down south so if you have any tips or tricks, we would love to hear from you.
