Just an aussie chiming in at @20:00 here. The RB30’s also come factory in the R31 Skyline also. Very easy to source motor over here. It just so happens I myself have 2 of them, and my old man has one of the many that have been in his VL Commodore wagon. You boys will not be disappointed! The rb30 also came from Australian/NZ r31 marketed Skylines where I believe when the Japanese only got 20 then eventually went to 25 It's so odd watching this and you guys seeing this as a rare combination cause it used to be such a common thing starting over 10 years ago here I'm sure you and your team will love the results ! Also please add an additional oil drain line from the head to the bottom end before you install it (save yourself the time of having to pull it out and do it again or potentially engine failure)

You need to strip it and make it the cleanest show quality GTT with a beautiful RB30. Super hyped for this, first the Porsche and now this…. Take it in brother, you did it❤

The RB30 also came in the r31 Skylines and also the Nissan y60 Patrol in DE form while only the Holden commodores came with the 30DET. Proud long time Kiwi viewer of Jimmy Oakes here. Fun fact over here it’s usually more common to put the series two 25 DET neo head on the rb30. The 25 neo head has better flow over the RB26 DET head and not to mention is way cheaper than a 26DET head. The RB 30 with some big cams sounds insane They scream and not to mention sound orgasmic off the limiter

Don't make the same mistake as me when you first go to shut your bonnet with the 26/30 in it. Being a taller motor, I had to trim the bonnet reinforcement as it hits the 26 valve covers. Can't wait to see the build, love all the way from Australia

Good find guys. I got lucky with my R33 GT-R with no rust on the strut towers. I did end up re-sealing all the seams prior to my re-spray as they were cracking. The mention of skyline sturt tower rust is scary AF. the seams run all the way up to the glass. All the seams on top need to be seal. including the ones under the fender riser. Seal up all the wheel-well seams, Also completely fill up the space between the metal where the top panel sits. That's where most of the water gets in. epoxy primer (as its non-porus) and 2-part sealer (lasts longer) are your friends RB30 for the WIN!!! Get some Speedtek billet trans gears after you blow up 3rd lol

Pro tip r32 gtst engine mount brackets ,a31 engine mounts ,with the r32 subframe drops the rb30 tall block as low as you can go in the bay using oem components

The RB30 also came in a Skyline, namely the also Australian build R31 Skyline's. In the sedans and the last Skyline wagons. I owned one when I was backpacking there, red as well. One of the fancier models with the better interior, audio, bumpers and polished OEM C4-like blades. Stock NA and a (sportier) auto but it was plenty fast and a great roadtrip car. Did the Great ocean road at speed behind 2 supermotos and it could keep up just fine. Outran it's 180 kp/h speedo quite easily. Rare AS today though i hardly realized that at the time..

Thanks you for explaining the joy of a non GTR R34. I have a GTT that I’ve had for 15years and the feeling of doing what you want to the car is the best. With the GTR you can’t do that. Love this build! 🙏💪🖖👍👏✌️

You need to talk to your boys in nz. Guy is running the same engine in his s13. Please make sure you have the correct restictors in the block and have the head drain. There is a way to make these engines reliable and handle some power but its an art

👉Jimmie's smart plan to tastefully upgrade the GT with the RB30, the car already being manual is a big plus. *As an X body guy, I'd say getting spoon even a cheap harbor-freight bead/blaster would be the answer to those strut towers as there's no (faster/better) way to uncover "sketch" molded bodywork other than a full chemical dip. Then...you can see how far U need to go. I'm with Spoon that it's probably not that bad, (the telling part will be the underside)! Exciting stuff.

YEEEES, giving a little love to non turbo JDM dailies! My Chaser Tourer S has been the PERFECT JDM daily. Do I wish I had a GTE with a manual trans, sure, but I can hop into this thing and cruise.

Non turbo neo is arguably the best base if you aren't building, its the highest compression block, just bolt your turbski on
