That no drip gas flap goes unnecessarily hard.

The leather fuel droplet catcher won't soak up the fuel like the cloth will. I'm betting the leather piece goes under the cloth, which makes sense why the leather is longer and can still display the name.

Hi Jimmy, The flap is not against dripping, but to prevent the pump nozzle to hit/scratch the paint

The second plug is for flame front propagation. On the smaller engines it was less of an issue, and the original Motec systems just advanced the timing earlier and gave up a few HP. Once the cylinder diameter got really large with the 3.6 it became a problem that finally needed to be addressed. The thing about old Porsches is that they were light. The big challenge was to see how light you could get your 911 or 914/6. Gut the interior, dry ice & chip off the sound deadening, needle felt carpet, lightweight seats, lightweight door cards, replace the aluminum bumpers, mini battery, fiberglass dash, replace the glass with Plexi, etc. 2400 LBS was a reasonable goal for the G-body cars. ~200 HP was a lot of fun in a 2400 lbs car.

I commented the last video that the secondary coils are why the engine makes more HP. And with the crank case leaking you have to retorque them after so many miles because rhats the way they were designed. Thats why oil changes at dealerships cost so much on them

There’s a resonance flap in the intake that should open at 5500 rpm if you didn’t set it to trigger with your new ECU that might be why the hp and v/e falls off a cliff at 5500 rpm. Google 964 resonance flap. Best of luck!

If its a steelcase, those can have like 10 year warranties on them. You should reach out to them. I had something break on one I got from my job. I reached out to see if I could buy a part from them and they sent it under warranty I didn't know it had.

Dual plugs are run in aviation as a safety backup as well. Just in case one plug fouls the other will keep firing and keep the running even though it will run rough. A rough engine is better than none lol

230 on an NA for banger isn't bad at my book. Especially not having individual throttle bodies. Be careful if you put a turbo in that thing though mid engines get twitchy fast

A Porsche is like a 450 4stroke, a turbo car is like a 250 2stroke. That’s why it feels so fast. Torque. Love the series. I have driven a 996 turbo with 650ho. It was exactly like yours only white and half caged. I have videos on it on my other channel MRJ666C.

Just a heads up, my father had a 1986 Carrera and it dyno’d at 218hp which is what they are rated for. The motors are actually hard to tune because they are very efficient. I will say the exhaust sounds junk, like you have a cylinder down. The way the car is geared is what makes up for it, enjoy it, turn it into a grip car for track days

Some nice SS or cup cams would make that come alive. Re-grinds aren’t to expensive. That’s what’s missing on the top end, but you loose some low end torque.

Those old school Porsches have such a nice power to weight ratio. Interior should be one of 2: peanut butter or red and black combo.

Car sound awesome, Jimmy. And the blue colour is really nice. The only thing I'd do is get rid of the fiberglass arches and get some a good body shop to weld on steel 911 turbo arches. Hopefully the guy that installed the kit hasn't cannibalized too much of the metal.

Porsche uses twin plugs because it has hemispherical combustion chambers, it’s a Hemi, top fuel dragsters have twin plugs, modern Dodge/Chrysler Hemi’s have twin plugs, something about it not being able to locate a single plug in the center of the chamber for maximum efficiency so twins are the next best thing.

I've always heard the stock 964 cams are good for turbocharging. I also foresee an upgraded intake plenum setup, which is a real limitation on the ol' 964's.

In the Gen 3 Hemi world you find out pretty quick that both spark plugs per cylinder are required for it to run optimally. This car looks and sounds awesome 👌

About that turbo plan. Is that aircooling able to cool that much of heat when it going to be boosted ? In my opinion it would be nicer if you just keep it n/a build (cams, port polish, lighter clutch, exhaust, ect.)

Steelcase does make the best chairs! theyre 800-1200 new and yet used can be picked up under $150, and sometimes sub 50 like mine lol

The motor is rated 247 crank from the factory, but you shouldn' t see the power drop off at 5500 rpm. That's when these motors come alive! Also, as you saw, working twin spark is important for these motors to get proper burn.

Hey Guys, You can definitely get more power out of it before slapping a turbo on. Make sure the injectors are up to the task. My 1994 964 made 300whp N/A! The thing about a Porsche is not always about the power it makes but how it gets delivered.

You should do metal fender flares when/if you redo the body. You have the people that can get it done right. Or stock body lol, no idea what is going on under the flares.

It just isn't breathing right. Make the intake less restrictive and get it dyno'ed with the fan blasting it for a more accurate reading.
