I do love that there is no billboarding on the knife. It annoys me when high end knives feel the need to turn the pocket clip and/or blade into a Worldstar Video.

I think in the long term it’s always better to pay an ok price for a great knife than a great price for an ok knife. Generally you end up worse off going with the latter initially because typically you’ll end up buying more stuff overall. Thanks for the pronunciation lessons, Roll 😂.

Same here! Wanted this for years and finally got the chance. Picked up this version and the REC exclusive as well. Great knife. Carrying it right now actually, it’s a beast.

That was a LOT of cons for a knife priced that high. I think you should revisit this again, after the luster has worn off. Dark Matter CF is great, but that can't outweigh all of the cons you shared.

Will definitely revisit. The interesting thing Is how much appreciation for my Arcane Designs Plexus this gave me... things like having to adjust a pivot screw don't matter as much to me as a perfectly set inlay or the quality of the inlay..the action could potentially get better with time but I'm planning on a set of skiff bearings too so that may become less of a factor but we will see

@@Rollshambo, but you see all of the work YOU have to do, just to get a knife that price to be "as it should be?" Throw that up against the $60-100 Tityus and try to be objective. Tityus comes ready to rock and roll... For less than 1/4 of the price. 🤷‍♂️

@OreoDave I definitely hear you, for me it's a scale of context..the cons list is long but not weighty it's just that the more something costs the more I'm going to nitpick because knives like the quiet carry Nine exist at $330

I bought the SMKW exclusive not because I liked it better than other dealers exclusive, but I bought their version because I bought this knife to use it. My favorite version I saw was DLT’s exclusive, but I knew if I bought that version I’d probably baby it and barely use it. I love this design so much I didn’t want to spend the money and be sacred to use the amazing design of the blades and how crazy sharp and deep the hollow grind is. I wanted to truly use and experience this knife as intended. Only gripe about the knife is the plunge grind. I wish it was brought back further. Great video! The SMKW version I have is heavily milled and I believe you are exactly right as to why your version wasn’t milled out. I can’t believe it! I just checked my bottle of “action oil” and it literally has the same amount of oil! Why even send the oil when there is almost none?! Wow my opinion is changing very fast. Not sure if I’ll buy another because when I got this it was very hard to flip and took forever to slightly smooth out but I’m never getting rid of this knife.

I bought the SMKW dark bronze frag pattern frame lock version… and not because it was the cheapest. It’s the one i wanted. Love it. And I luv my Gill-o-teen action ma’naf. LOL. 😂

Just off. Thank you for pronouncing it correctly for those in the back row lol. You and MC are the only guys I watch who actually do and it drives me crazy when they actually pronounce the “LL” in the guillotine. Secondly, I love the look of these but do feel like that are a bit of hype. I had a Raptor v2 and sold it after a week or so. The action was just meh and the ergos were terrible for xxl hands.

I totally agree about the jimping. I know some people love it without them but I don’t get it. Also I added skiffs to mine and the action is even better now. Highly recommend it. It won’t become a guillotine but it will be a nearly drop shut

Great video. And I know how you feel. Just finally got one a couple weeks ago. V2 knife joy exclusive and it has the mokuti set in it. It’s awesome. And yesterday I found. The v2 Brittany blue which is the one I’ve wanted more than any other version or color. It’s in the mail and I’m pumped.

I have a Yeager V2 and it was horrible to break in. Even after installing skiff bearings. In direct comparison with the New Breed Clydesdale, the Clydesdale smokes it. And at only $125 versus $400. Kinda crazy.

I got the NC Blade exclusive in artic storm. I absolutely love this knife. Mine has a detent tuned to perfection, and the Reate quality shines through. Now the elephant in the room is it worth $400? I think they pushed the price a wee bit, but after getting it in hand, I'd definitely buy it again . I'm glad to know I'm not going crazy thinking they sent me a dam near an empty bottle of lube😂

I did nitpick the crap out of it but I also don't currently have any regrets in picking it up..I think they give you the nearly empty bottle of pivot oil because they intentionally ship the knife dry and let you do it yourself..which is novel but also annoying at the same time😂 I am looking forward to putting some skiff bearings on this one though

@Rollshambo I was really shocked how gritty the action came on a $400 knife. I used their oil they sent, and tbh I was impressed with it. If you ever get the chance, check out a We Trogon. It's by Brian Brown, and I absolutely love it

I really dog the yeager for sure.. the clip on the pm2 is the MXG Deep Carry Clip...American made titanium and I think it looks and performs better than the stock spyderco clip..and it's titanium which I'm truly a sucker for🤣

@@Rollshambo it happens. I talked to Brian. He has said he checked these all before they went out to vendors. When you talked about the pivot being over tightened it got me thinking… is that Reate, or was it when Brian inspected them. Not saying that it should come that way, but might not be Reate? Great review brother. Oh, and guillotine (pronouncing it with L’s accentuated 🤣 JK) 👍

I'm not sure if it's on brian..reate..or the vendor(all points where qc checks can take place) but I do know I've talked with multiple people who all experienced that..it could be that during those checks somebody decided they'd rather have a reduced chance of blade play than a centered blade..but action improved immediately after I backed the pivot off just enough to center the blade and that's no joke

Attack on Titan has ruined the word "Yeager/Jaeger" for me... I can only hear the original opening theme song. I've been telling myself I want to move my knife-buying ways into "quality over quantity" and support small companies, especially US ones. But that also makes it harder to decide on which ones to spend those dollars on. I don't want to get too picky nor make my indecisive ways worse, but just have a healthy eye for what's what.

The oil was meant to be a sample. I got the gecko carbon fiber the action was perfect out of pouch. Great video only dislike i have is how dark this video is . Can't see how awesome your knives are cause lighting is to dark.

The action lube is sample bottle Brian Brown sent for people to try. He should've included an explanation in the packaging but he explained it in his FB and IG page. Side note, not a fan of your lighting. I get the vibe you're trying to achieve but doesn't look good for this type of content.

Good to know about the sample, honestly I'd much rather the knife come lubed since sending 5-6 drops in a bottle that should hold a hundred times that amount and a bone dry knife makes for a poor first impression. As for my setup it's ok, I've accepted that just like how not every knife will appeal to every person, neither will my channel appeal to every viewer. Thanks for watching anyways✌️

@@RollshamboIt's not really a "not for everyone" thing. The desk lighting is poor - video image has compromised clarity and colors are not coming through true. The interspersed still shots are nice because you can actually see the knife in full clarity, but why not strive for that in video as well?
