Stephen, iv’e visited Blackpool,zoo every year since it opened, I feel I know Kate, the elephant, I’m glad she has a decent proper home now and she seems to get on well with the other elephants.

It looks utterly depressing.

blackpool has 2 zoos the main one opens at about 11 30 pm along the prom

My son, daughter in law and two year old granddaughter went last year and said it was fantastic for kids, I'll be there in July and hopefully see quite a few animals,tigers are my favourite.

When i was a kid, we had a pleasure flight in a small plane over Blackpool and it flew around Blackpool Tower. I wonder if that's where we flew from.. we stayed at the Greeley Hotel, i don't know if that's how you spell it. I was always in trouble for trying to use the lift on my own.. The beach was packed in those days if the sun was out..

I was soloist in the blackpool childrens ballet and the zoo was still there in the tower in 1968! Happy that those animals(who were many part of the circus i think) have a better life! We could creep out from the back stage and acess the whole tower!

I've been here many times now. It's my favourite, and iv been to most in the uk. Price is abit 😮 but if it goes back to the park, which you can see if it does, then I don't mind

I think they took a picnic because it's a bit pricey

wow brings back a lot of memories when the black turkey chased my daughter she is now 28 yrs old

Was at the zoo last year we managed to get free tickets through a freinds daughter who works there and stays in Blackpool really changed since I was there in the mid eighties. A great zoo

I could imagine the schools go during the year. Then the summer holidays will be busy when school is closed for the summer.

Had a wonderful day here not too long ago. Loved it. So much to see.

Not really anything to give you the wow factor me thinks . Half the animals plucked off when Stephen went to look at them,especially through the glass. Expensive food & drink ,the whole place looked a bit of a shit hole to me 😢

I went 2 Blackpool zoo a few years ago I enjoyed it but I dare nt have anything 2 drink and it was a warm day they is nt enough toilets you have 2 go back to the cafe to go to the toilet and it depends where you are in the zoo it can be a bit of a trek

Looks good changed a bit since I last went few years ago hopefully go again soon hope you enjoyed

My favourite is goats they so friendly love a stroke and a cuddle ❤

it looks very run down and the animals do not look as if they have enough things to keep them occupied like other zoos have

So I think you did it perfectly and the fact that you've not showed us everything because he's inspiration to have to go for ourselves to see the rest of it which is fantastic. It's a great zoo, love it. Worth going each year at least, pick a nice day, do the talks and shows.

What a dismal place ! I can't believe it's allowed to be open

Little funny story - When the Zoo was under construction I worked on the Pump House for the sealion pool. It was a cold winter morning and I picked up a Sparkling new Ford Escort Van from Thomas Motors Oxford Square then drove to the zoo to get back to work approaching the Pool there was only concrete road pathways. It was a very cold day with ice on the ground as I put my brakes on the van slipped down the ice covered path and went straight into the water. That took some explaining to my boss.

I love the zoo its awhile since i visted i took my mum we sat outside on the cafe tables and i just put mums sandwich down and a seagull swooped down and you can guess the rest. When you think of how much it costs upkeep of the animals and wage's ect i think price is okay. You can spend hours there so value. Thank you again Stephen i enjoyed your visit to the zoo. Denver zoo USA is a brilliant one if you go to Denver.

Nice video - probably about 40 years since I went to Blackpool Zoo too! Great to see the miniature railway. I’m fairly sure it was originally introduced at the same time as the one on St Annes Prom - and run by the same people. But that might just be a childhood memory gone wonky…😂

Not impressed by the miserable state of the enclosures - concrete and mud. I'm surprised the RSPCA haven't closed them down.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Stephen. It has been forty plus years since I was dragging a trolley around Blackpool Zoo with my daughters. The entrance is defiantly different than it was then and many of the enclosures where different as far as I can remember. Back then the zoo had only been opened a couple of years and everything looked brand new.

I remember visiting Blackpool Zoo once with my son, I just checked in photos and seen it's almost 10 years ago (I didn't think it was that long), might have to go again as my son loves penguins. We've been Dudley Zoo, Chester Zoo, London Zoo too (years ago aswell). I also very vaguely remember going to Belle Vue zoo when I was really young (not far from where I live) before it closed down many years ago.

Firstly I'm glad your feeling better, I'm coming to Blackpool zoo on the 11th of march, is the train ride included in the price? I have to confess I chuckled about the seagull eating your hot dog, they are so cute and I've always loved them such funny characters 😂😂

I used to cycle past the Zoo on my way to my Apprentice Linotype user job, which ended rapidly when the Printing Industry went digital. It was a hot metal typesetting system that cast lines of metal type for one-time use, and was a cracking job for the winter time. Having a small furnace full of molten metal next to your head, wasn't good in the Summer. The Orangutans would often be seen from the road, playing with a sack on their heads.

I know that it seems expensive, but as most tourists will only visit occasionally, you can plan for it. The running costs must be astronomical. It's a very ethically run zoo and the dedication of the keepers is apparent. The animals are well cared for. Well worth the money. A more frequent bus service would be good though. We waited for an hour and gave up and took a taxi.

I’ve upgraded my camera and bought new lenses and I’m planning to come here and test it out on a nice sunny day.

Used to work there. Very historic site. The elephants and the capybaras are good. Can buy an annual pass and can get discount if local sometimes. Worth a visit. Hope you are feeling better.

Giraffes are my favourite animal

I remember going there in the early 90s but it didn't cost that much , I was only paying £120 for Monday to Friday bnb at that time for 2 adults and 2 children lol

I think it's been about the same time as you since I went there as a kid in the late 70s / early 80s. I have vague reflections of the train. And I remember being terrified of a gorilla banging on the glass of his pen!

20years ago last time I was in the zoo with my grandkids First visit to the zoo was 1979 to be honest I didn’t like to see elephants in zoos are any large animals they need lots of space and not small enclosures I don’t think Blackpool as enough space for them but I guess the zoo keeps them in small areas so people can see them more close up

Blackpool Zoo is amazing we had a great time and well worth the entrance cost! the enclosures and the animals are great! we went the day after our greatest disappointment at the pleasure beach I recommend visiting great vlog as always well done

Not been since 90s. Used to like Southport zoo as you could buy a little bag of food and give it to the tamer animals.

I like Blackpool Zoo as it's just a nice size to get round with kids.

I'm sure they are charging no more than the going rate.But is seems like a rather expensive family day out.

Great video stephen.we have silver membership for the 3 of us unlimited visits from jan till dec and works out if you visit twice in the year it pays for itself so worth it if you plan 2 or more visits. also the membership gives you slight discount in the cafe and souviner shop think 10 percent .prices seem to have crept up from last year for entrance fee/food/drinks etc etc.a very enjoyable day for the family highly reccomend.anyways like i said hope you are feeling better and look forward to your next upload 🎉p.ssorry to hear about your sausage 😂 naughty seagulls

I remember taking my kid to feed the giraffe cost 10 pound to feed them where his neck was that's where you feed them

We all ways to Blackpool but never the zoo and finally went last year and it was well worth abit nice weather at the time as well witch was bonus really good day out for our family
