The Utah Christian Research Center is the only Evangelical Christian bookstore and library in the Salt Lake Area (In the Ogden-Provo corridor in Utah). There's nothing else quite like it in the entire state of Utah.
Bill McKeever & Eric Johnson of Mormonism Research Ministry (MRM.org) felt that after the closing of Sandra Tanner's Utah Lighthouse Ministry Bookstore, there should still be a physical location in Utah where questioning Latter-day Saints could come and talk with a Christian about their doubts/concerns. That desire blossomed into the Utah Christian Research Center.
At the Research Center, Bill & Eric have crafted a number of helpful & interesting exhibits built to bolster our trust in Biblical history. There's an archaeology exhibit, an explanation of the transmission process of the Bible (complete with very old & rare Bibles), and even a research library.
If you're in the Salt Lake Area - be sure to stop by the Utah Christian Research Center!

There are only 2 Christian bookstores in all of Utah - the Utah Christian Research Center (in the Salt Lake Area), and a small bookstore up in Logan, Utah (Oasis Books and Conversation). The Church of JESUS 😮CHRIST of Latter-day Saints is a Christian denomination, so all those LDS bookstores are Christian bookstores too. You can probably find more Bibles in an LDS bookstore than in a non-LDS bookstore there as well.

@@micheleh3851so why did historic Mormons reject other Christians and call their creeds abominations?
@micheleh3851
@micheleh3851 8 месяцев назад
@BNichols021 - Hello. Each Christian religion has found things to reject about other Christian religions. Otherwise there would still be only one Christian denomination on earth and everyone who believes in Jesus Christ would still be the one sole religion of the early Apostles who served with Christ during His mortal ministry. But some beliefs evolved into the Catholic Church over time and then became hundreds of other Churches and creeds that exist today as certain beliefs were accepted or rejected across Christianity.

Mormonism is not a denomination but rather a different religion altogether. Joseph Smith would be appalled at such a statement. As Joseph Smith taught there was a great apostasy thus the need for a new church. They were as Smith said an abomination. So why now do some Mormons pretend to be “A Christian denomination” when it’s not.

Very cool! I had no idea that Sandra retired earlier this year. I've been away from Idaho/Utah for 16 years now so I'm a bit slow to hear a lot of the news. I was never a Mormon but I married a (jack) Mormon in 2002. She eventually converted to Catholicism and we have raised our kids outside the LDS realm. I watch everything I can from Sandra, Bill, RFM, GLM, Aaron S, etc ad I am fascinated by the LDS faith. I find it a LOT easier to deal with no bring surrounded by it in ID/UT as I did back then. But yeah, if I'm in the area again, I'll stop by and offer patronage. I'd love to talk with Bill someday. As a kid from Tennessee who moved to ID at 16, I had no idea what to expect. It's taken me decades to understand it better and come to peace with it all. I was very bitter in my younger years because LDS believers made me feel like an outcast and much of my experience in Idaho felt very much like I was living amongst a hivemind culture. I felt stifled to have spiritual conversations with LDS folks because they felt they had ALL the answers and anyone who doubted was simply "ignorant".

I now introduce myself as a non-creedal Christian. Which may not make sense because you can’t deny the Creeds and still be a Christian. But as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ I recognize the stark differences found within the Creeds that do not jive. The debates between your side and our side are never ending and there is never anything new. We know why you deny us the label of Christian and you know why we deny the Trinity as taught in the creeds, the Rapture and differences in definition in nearly every word we use. And That’s Okay Now more than ever we need to come together as Faith groups ! Now more than ever those who profess a belief in Salvation by Jesus are coming under fire and need to come together. It no longer bothers me you deny me the label of Christian. I am not a Mormon either. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We can either endlessly argue to no avail, or we can rise up shoulder to shoulder and recognize the devil is attacking both of our groups ! And the more we stand together the more we’ll not be divided. All love to you! Keep The Faith! “Behold I say unto you, that as these things are true, and as the Lord God liveth, there is none other name given under heaven save it be this Jesus Christ, of which I have spoken, whereby man can be saved” Amen!

@austinnajar
@austinnajar 3 месяца назад
Here's your issue. As a Mormon, when you deny the Trinity, you deny the very God Christians believe in and worship. You deny the Christ we know and worship. So how can you deny the God we believe in and deny Christ and still be a Christian?
@freedomfriday2.040
@freedomfriday2.040 3 месяца назад
@@austinnajar That’s actually not accurate at all. The denial unfortunately only happens on one side. Maybe not from you but I’ve seen in at large from Christians. We don’t deny anything. We are not denying the very Christ you worship, love, serve, give your heart, mind and soul to. We actually adore and love the fact that we share that in common. Just because we are at odds with trinitarian 2nd & third century Doctrine we do don’t deny you your worship. But that seems to happen a lot towards us. You are at odds with some of our doctrine. When can we recognize that we are worshipping,honoring & praising the same Jesus that was born in Bethlehem. The same Jesus who’s first recorded miracle it was to turn water into wine. The same Jesus who was the great Jehovah of the OT. The same Jesus who performed mighty miracles, commissioned the 12, was Baptized of John. This same Jesus died for our sins! It is through his Grace we are Saved! This same Jesus that rose again the 3rd day and who was witnessed by Mary first who was mistaken for the Gardner. THAT JESUS. I know of only one God who became flesh. It’s that same Jesus that I too have given my life for, I honor and worship his Holy sacrifice and seek to praise everyday of my life. The time for this separation needs to come to an end. Sure our beliefs are different. When are we going to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder and defend each others mutual love and adoration to Jesus as opposed to endlessly bickering in the comment section. Love you Brother!
@austinnajar
@austinnajar 3 месяца назад
@@freedomfriday2.040 a couple thoughts. One, we aren’t brothers. I have no Christian fellowship with Mormons since Mormons are not Christians. Second, you cannot deny the basic theology behind God and who He is and then claim to worship the same God. It’s illogical at most generous, and deliberately fallacious and dishonest at most honest. So we don’t share in common a love of the same God. Your god is someone completely unworthy of worship who I want nothing to do with.
@freedomfriday2.040
@freedomfriday2.040 3 месяца назад
Notice how one side is shooting for ecumenical fellowship and the other is not. It’s the same Jesus brother. There is no other. Careful you said “You cannot deny basic theology” You’re assuming that your theology is correct. Taking a closer look one would find that it’s not Biblical Christianity it’s 3rd and 4th century Christianity what it became long after the Christ and the Apostles were gone. We’ll forever be at an impasse this back and forth will go on endlessly. I don’t crave acceptance into your camp. I will continue to boldly proclaim the Restored Gospel. Keep a close eye on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, believe what you want but as time goes on you’ll find incredible witness that this is the Lords Kingdom on earth. Where is the Church of Eph 4? Where is the unity of faith? Where is one Lord, one Faith and one Baptism? Where are the Apostles of the primitive church? It’s no where to be found. In mainstream Christianity. The Word Trinity isnt found in the Bible. The word Rapture isn’t found in the Bible. All Christian churchs at the end of the day are just small businesses teaching the Bible. What Christ brought to the earth has been altered by Creeds. Paul and Peter we know… Athanasia and Nicea we do not know. Any rational non biased investigator would see that the Church of Jesus Christ far more closely resembles the Church of the New Testament. Acts 1. Where is the continuation of the Holy apostleship? When there was a vacancy Peter said vs 22 “must one be ordained” Acts 2 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Where is vs 37 & 38 in the Christian Church today? It has been replaced with the sinners prayer? Where is the sinners prayer in the Bible. You will disagree with the above and that’s fine but food for thought 💭 Jesus is returning. May we prepare for that great day!

@@ChomoBidensMules I'm not sure you understand the data. According to Pew Research Members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints read the bible more than any other group. I read my bible every day and every day it tells me that the gathering of Isreal is happening now and the church has been restored. I love the Cult of Jesus Christ.
