The shot of Queen Elizabeth had Prince Phillip on the left and ( then ) Prince Charles on the right. You will notice everyone was wearing a poppy. That is the symbol of Remembrance Day which is observed on the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month. That date marks the signing of the Armistice and the end of WWI. It is observed in all Commonwealth Countries, including Canada, Australia, New, Zealand and the rest of the commonwealth. Remembrance Day is a solemn day of honouring our fallen service men and women, those who survived and came home and our current military members. Wreaths are laid, prayers and hymns and 2 minutes of silence followed by a 21 gun salute. Fun fact….both Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth served in WWII….He was a naval officer, and she served in the women’s auxiliary as a truck mechanic and ambulance driver. Most royals have served in the armed forces at some point in their lives.

We in the British isles don't wear our patriotism on our sleeves. It's not the British way but when we do patriotism we do it very well indeed check out last night of the proms at the royal Albert hall in London

That is a fair point, just let us Brits go about our business so we can create the Western world again and make amazing countries like the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Seems sensible 😂

The peace treaty after WW1 was signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Each year, on the closest Saturday and Sunday to 11th November the Royal British Legion organise a special event - a Festival - at the Royal Albert Hall in London in honour and celebration of all our military and those of the Commonwealth of Nations. There are civilian singers, military performances, short films about our military abroad, talking about their tasks, maybe how they are missing home, or we see film of one of the services, for example, reacting in a current action. I Vow to Thee my Country is one of the hymns that is often sung at this event. Its particularly touching when people of the military sing it because they are offering their life in protection of ours. You will see most people wearing a paper poppy. We buy them around this time of year in support of our military. The money from the sale of these poppies, goes to supporting members of our services and their families. The poppies are worn by us all in remembrance of those soldiers, sailors, airmen/women who lost their lives fighting for us and our freedoms. ALWAYS during this event we have a two minute silence in honour of their sacrifice. A paper poppy for each fallen hero, since WW1 to the present day, falls from above onto the audience below during the silence. The next morning we have Remembrance Sunday. It's held at the Cenotaph in London. Music is played by the military bands, poppy wreaths are laid by the Royal Family, the Prime Minister, etc and one each by the 56 Commonwealth Nations. There's a short service and then the veterans of all ages march past the Centotaph, to salute the fallen heroes. The military swear their allegiance to The Queen, now The King and no other - that's why you will always see the Royal family at these two events. It's very important to them that they support the military. Both events are televised Live for the whole of the UK to see. The BBC have put full length videos on these events on You Tube if you want to take a peek - I'll go see if I can find one. Also you may like to react to 'The Tower of London Poppies'.

The Festival of Remembrance in the video is 2008 as there is a 90 on the screen at The Royal Albert Hall in London as 2008 was the 90th Anniversary of the end of The First World War. I know this as I was in Ieper Belgium 🇧🇪 watching this on tv in my hotel room at The Ariane Hotel after filming at The Last Post Ceremony at The Menin Gate Memorial. The following day I was in Vichte 30 miles away for Rememberance Day.

My grandfather and his son, my mother’s brother, both served in the military during World War 2. There were some things that affected them their whole lives. My uncle was a bombardier and was shot down twice. He returned to fight each time. He came back a totally different person. My grandfather would be walking down the street with my grandfather and when a car engine backfired, he would drive to the ground. He worked on the front in Salvation Army Red Shield Services providing R &R for the allied forces.

I have had friend from other countries ask, why do you have this festival. My answer was simple, though originally for the generation lost in WWI, it has over the years taken on the roll to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts that followed which are the consequent of humanities own stupidity . and the monarch, be they king or queen attend every year. and if you watch the one from 2022, the pay tribute to the greatest queen of the 20th & 21st century. Her Majesty Elizabeth Queen of the Untied Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. may she rest in peace.

In British English all countries are her/she, if they have a gender at all. The second verse is about a higher patriotism - to the heavenly realm, a higher country, whose paths are peace, even if the patriotism for your country can lead to war - eg the reference to sacrificing the dearest and best and laying them on the alter. The price is dying for your country - a high price. The second country (the higher, spiritual realm) is a higher calling that transcends all earthly attachments.

Why didn’t you just look up “what is The Festival of Remembrance?”. It would have given you an insight into the video, but then all those who do reaction videos never seem to do any research and I’m not talking about investigating the complete video they are going to watch, just a brief overview of the subject. It would make so much more sense for you, but I suppose diving in head first appears to be the norm.

This is the remembrance service which is held every year on the remembrance weekend closest to the 11th of September as remembrance to the end of World War One called armistice day. World War 1 killed so many members of the UK and the then empire almost every country of the commonwealth are included on Remembrance Sunday but the Saturday evening is the Royal British Legion Remembrance Service here in the Albert Hall that commemorates all members of United Kingdom who have lost their lives over the years since then. It includes the Monarch then the Queen and Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and others who wish to be there. In the arena are members of each part of the Uk forces including Navy, Army, Airforce, Marines and the Gurkha Regiment as is their right. While the band plays at the beginning a drum alter is erected the same as would have been used on Sundays in the big old wars and the book of Remembrance is placed on top which has a record of all those that have died in the defence of the nation and commonwealth.

The British Monarch is Head of the British Military, so generally is present for most, if not all, ceremonies that involve the military. If the Monarch cannot attend (health, age, whatever) then at least one or more of the other Senior Royals attend - since all Senior Royals have military experience anyway, it's fitting on two counts.
