I actually had flight constipation when traveling to Alaska, when at the store I saw dragon fruit and never had one before, out of curiosity to try i ended up buying one. Never knew how effective it was. Safe to say it did its job 2 hours later
Im obsessed with growing dragons now. Ever since I figure it out how to grow one from the seeds I’ve got like 75 of them growing right now.😅…. but I am so hooked on it. I just keep germinating more because they are just growing like wildfire for me from putting the seeds in and napkin. I had sprouts within like 3 to 4 days and then I got a cactus bud coming out of the sprouts within like three weeks, I am absolutely pumped with how well this is going. I think this might be my new favorite little plant.
I've had these before and let me tell you, THEY ARE SWEET. It's literally honey level sweetest. I would only recommend this to people with a very sweet tooth.
Growing'em in norway, got 15 of'em from one fruit, had to start giving'em away, chances are, if they grow in northern europe, they can grow where you live
kiwi fruit is another good one I can tell you from first-hand experience and also as a physician it definitely works. I had a similar experience. Totally forgot that I ate seven of them the night before and I was I’m driving on the freeway on my way to Sam’s Club the next day oh shit I really need to go number two. Fortunately Sam’s Club has a bathroom that’s all I’m gonna say about that but then I made a mental note to myself. Remember the next time you eat kiwi fruit don’t do that again.
Should try the red purple colored dragon fruit if you really want it to be explosive...for first timer and the unknown..they will think they had just ooze out blood
Maybe. Or could just be good camera work / editing. after he closes door first time. Open it again, remove camera, then later, put camera back in, get shot of door opening... and cut out the footage in between.
I bought one once from Trader Joe’s and it literally had zero flavor. I returned it which they didn’t seem happy about, but it just was a useless fruit. Maybe I didn’t let it ripen or something?
@@A_Ducky when the fruit Is fully ripe after it has turned yellow 💛 the thorns will fall off very easily by using a bush and brush them out, definitely worth it
@@pedromunoz4468 Omg thanks so much! We have plenty of red ones in northern California but they all have the most horrible tiniest needles I've ever seen. I must have picked it up at wrong stage of life, lol. You rock! I might even plant one, we'll see. It's definitely one of my favorite expensive fruits at the store (costs something like $6-8 apiece).
My grandma is from Ecuador and this was one of her favorite fruits. Whenever I eat them it always reminds me of her and this has become my favorite fruit.
We have a purple one in Malaysia. It has no thorn. We called it Buah Naga (Dragon fruit). The color is so bright that when we make juice, it looks so tasty 🤤
Fun fact: with these purple-fleshed varieties, you will not only get an explosive surprise if you eat too much but it will also cause your urine and defecation to turn reddish/purplish too, with the hue and the duration of the hue depending on how much you ate. This just happened to me last week ;-;
Oh man, I am so jelly right now. I've only had these twice and nobody around me carries this yellow gem. I'm not really a fan of the pink ones, but the yellow ones are so freaking delicious
My mom coms from a village in mexico named Pitalla, they wont consider them ripe until they start to split open on the cactus. Super sweet but the slimyness becomes too much for me.
@ Tony Redgrave You are a very lucky man - but, a - speaking from experience, please make sure that's natural for your body and no underlying causes ✝️
@@SylverScourge IBS is having shitty* guts and and general reference for all gut problems 😂 I've had 4 surgeries on my guts, once under the knife for 3 hours. One night in so much pain and praying, there was a flash of bright white light and my guts were healed. They work better, now, than the day I was born. The back of my stomach wall was stuck to my lower bowel. Nothing could go in OR out. Had Peritonitis that no Dr could diagnose. Found the symptoms in a medical book writ in 1898. There was no name for Peritonitis then - BACK TO EDEN, DR. JOHN (JETHRO) KLOSS, a country Dr who walked over mountains to see his patients. BEST comprehensive medical book you'll ever find, found in flea market for $0.25. His family put it back in print. Can be Googled, look for unrevised edition. Really, best medical book I ever saw besides MERCK MEDICAL MANUEL. Stay healthy. Bad guts suck 😂 * no pun intended.
@@vmr6771😮 the yellow ones are like $6 each here in Texas. Still get one every now and then because they’re so good. The red ones with white flesh taste like nothing here with barely any sweetness at all
I live in Ecuador, Quito específially and you can find those everywhere in the street, usually 4-5 for $1. They are the sweetest and you'll be tempted to eat one too many before your tummy starts crackling a-brewing lol.
Wow that’s so pretty also Idk how I though dragons fruits grew 😅 (i never really thought about it/researched it before) but it’s so cool that they come from a cactus type plant very interesting.
A lady near me bought a dragon fruit and sprouted a bunch of seeds and was selling them at our local farm market for $5 to $20 depending on how big. I potted it up into a bigger pot and it grows really fast(for a cactus that is) I broke a piece off and it rooted so my grandson will get it next summer. I live where its cold so its inside in my plant room with my figs and citrus trees lol. Not sure I'll ever get fruit but its a cool plant.
They are lovely but they can very quickly overtake fences and walls! I live in Hawaii where growing these is common and there’s a few places I’ve been where they’ve completely taken over trees and stone walls, super cool.
@@mrtrev4496 i was going to buy seed online but it was so expensive for one packet of 20 seeds and shipping. But trader joes had the yellow dragon fruit for $3.49 this weekend and I ended up with so many seeds and it didn't even destroy the fruit. Hubby and I shared it and it was so sweet compared to the pink outside one we had at a buffet years ago. I already have about 100 seeds planted and some drying out for a friend. I shared my dwarf banana plant too. It makes a lot of babies once the roots fill the pot! But when I brought it inside the leaves do die back so next fall I think ill trim them and use the leaves to make tamales lol
The seeds give you an explosive surprise...if you press it through a sieve, you can eat as much as you like. So yummy. Also you can torch the spikes off if you don't want to risk getting pierced.
For any parents of Littles. If your kid is constipated, add some dragon fruit with a little coconut milk to their oatmeal. Clears them out in a few hours.
@@Yoshirama Shut the fuck up. Only you pedophiles take innocent shit and make it perverted. I'm so sick of you stupid inbred mutherfuckers thinking that you have an inkling of a right to correct anyone about anything. They must be selling audacity at the piggly wiggly. Grow the fuck up, eat yellow snow, stay away from schools and playgrounds and above all mind the business that pays you.
@@KTL5637 A Lot of strange assumptions made here. Tell me more about myself, please. Also, "mind the business that pays you," sounds like something said by people who actually shop at Piggly Wiggly.
As i learn more and more about gardening, i have anxiety over eating seeds cause im learning how unbelievably important they are and can become if the plant goes extinct
don't worry bro, any plant you have won't go extinct except if you have something super rare. also there are seed banks in the arctic that store millions of seeds of different plants, so there is always backup
But don't just save them. Grow them out every year. Some seeds will not be good after a few years. Like onion and lettuce. After about 4 years you will be lucky to get them to germinate no matter how they are stored. I grow out open pollinated/ heirloom variety tomatoes and pole beans and have learned how to protect t them so no accidental crossing/hybrid seeds. Its not hard just a tad fussy lol
@Morty yea im aware but the oublic doesnt have access to it. Kinda same way wit weed seeds, not everyone cant easily get the strain they want or a name branded strain so theyll pay 100$ or more for 3 seeds
@Emeraldwitch30 oh im in michigan so winter i save as many seeds and then use about 50% during summer and see what grows viably and tend to the most bountiful:) i just got 2 Romain hearts to root in my "cloner" which is basically just a hydroponic box
Yup don't eat 2 or 3 at a time 😂😂. I didn't know and found out the hard way. I buy these fresh in Colombia for $0.25 to $0.30 usd and they are amazing 😋
Thank you! I’ve been looking for the name of these since my honeymoon to Columbia! There were several amazing fruits that I wish I had gotten the name of at the time so I could keep an eye out at specialty markets.
Pro-tip if you want to get rid of the spines if you happen to have a bunch of them get you a little fire going and slightly singe off the spines. We used to do it with the prickly pear cactus fruit and our charcoal grill
@@Madamoizilliondepends on the variety of the prickly pear. If you got some from the store chances are they didn't taste very sweet. The purple skinned ones are so good i only ever saw those kinds in people's yards.
@Madamoizillion Just like dragonfruits there are a ton of prickly Pear varieties. Most will be superior in taste (intensity as well as complex flavors) to most dragonfruits. We have around 150ish varieties of dragonfruits and 4 different types of Prickly pear. Red, purple, orange and green. The green is my personal favorite. Purple is the most complex of the varieties I have tasted. Dragonfruits, Sugardragon, is my personal favorite followed by a few others like American Beauty. Palora, Desert king and one called purple Watermelon.
In south east asia - the red skinned dragon fruits are white flesh or pink flesh. Very sweet when ripe ( you eat them when the skin starts being a little brown). Size about 2 or 3 tennis balls. And you can get 3 large dragon fruit for about $3.45.
I had that kind of surprise in Zambia. Everything my ancestors ate went through me. I felt violated, dejected and ready to eat my fingers but I needed them for the TP....
Years ago I used to be able to buy frozen curuba pulp aka banana passion fruit pulp in my local grocery store. Now I can’t seem to find it anywhere. My mom really loves it which is what I’ve been trying to find it.
It's also a laxative? I see that as an absolute win, it prevents you from over indulging and you have an exceedingly tasty way to alleviate a blockage or stay regular.
Last yr, I started growing dragonfruits from seed. So i have the pink and the yellow both growing. My plants are small still... only a year old. But im so excited for when they grow more and begin to fruit. Your cactus look so healthy. I hope mine grow big and lucious too.
I swear it tastes hundreds of times better then the other versions. It's maybe the most delicious fruit I had in all my life and I only had 1. Mum thinks the same after she had just 1 bite. 🤩😋
