all the young dudes is my fav harry potter fanfic -- its about james, sirius, remus, and peter during their years at hogwarts (and has a remus/sirius romance) but it is SO SO good... so well written and also super long so you can be reading it forever which is AMazing!!
Yes, I relate, I'm Sicilian and my Sister and I are into cooking all the foods, were kinda loud when we get together, we love cooking for everyone and my husband is Puerto Rican so again with foods and all that. Were very much in touch with all of that. Both sides have lots of traditions and we both grew up immersed in culture. I love it. I would love to try some Argentinean food. Happy Reading
Omg I been follow you for years now and I didn’t know you were an Argentinian, I am too! I love your videos and Apollo in his sweater is the cutest thing I’ve seen this year 💙🤍💙
The Life and Times is an HP Marauders era fanfic. So good that’s it’s practically canon in my head. I’d love to see your Christmas haul and your book haul.
Dramione fanfic is the only reason I even started like reading reading, ya know? I used to read 2-3 book a year and now I read 100 books a year and it all started with Dramione fanfic.
I’m Canadian born but will always feel as a Slovenian / Croatian descendant, much more CROATIAN from looks, language, culture, history. Ironically, my maternal grandfather & great-grandfather left Croatia to work in ARGENTINA during the 1920s but then went back to Croatia and then onto Canada. So, during FIFA, I was mixed on who is winning because we 💜Croatia & Argentina. I think it all worked out well. I’ll never be Canadian enough nor Croatian enough.
I am the same way with my icelandic side. I was raised here from the age of 2 but i still feel more icelandic. I think my family over there definitely see me as more anerican though.
I love your Grinchmas videos every year. It feels like I'm just hanging out on the phone with a close friend and it's very soothing. All your videos are like that though lol 💕
13:26 lmao that yell like my dad and my coworker, we always talk about football and how it should not be called football lol. I'm mixed. I'm European/Canadian so like every time there's a sport events like the Olympics or the World cup etc, I'm like who the heck am I supposed to cheer for?? My mom always makes me cheer for Europe but when I start cheering for Canada, she's like the heck you doin lol ahh, I remember reading a lot of Fanfics back in the days. Heck, I still have unfinished stories on my account that I didn't get to finish writing them 😅 Babel Fairy Loot loos stunning!
I know how you feel. I'm half korean and lived with my mom most of my life so I was raised with knowledge of the culture and food. But I remember feeling out of place when I was younger the last time we visited family in Korea.
Merry Christmas I hope you and your family had an amazing Christmas 😊 Also Happy New Years ❤ Aww Apollo and his little sweater 🥰 and Queen Luna blessing us with her presence
One of my favorite Harry Potter fanfics is Harry Potter and the Psychic Serpent, I think it was written after Goblet of Fire was published and the storyline has so many different elements, it's honestly amazing.
Christmas is stressful indeed I love the movies, the weather, that my friends have vacations so I can finally see them But it happens a looot of things to process them all and we have to xD Thank you for being such a lovely company for us with this videos 🥰✨
Omg I’m the same, I’m half Japanese half Australian but I definitely identify more with being Japanese but my family in Japan definitely see me more Australian because I was raised here😅😅
Definitely the most unique way I ever heard Rutherford pronounced😂 Also, as I live in the Balkans, literally everyone's families are many nationalities so at this point, pick and choose as you like💀😂 But it does mostly come down to where you were raised here, like it or not you grew up surrounded by a culture and claiming another as primary without having lived there is odd here.
My dad and grandparents were born in Germany and whenever someone says I'm half-German it brings me so much joy. Then my mom rains on my parade and reminds me that I was born in Canada and therefore am 100% Canadian. 😂
Fantastic video as always love it 🥰 love you and your amazing channel prayers and thoughts for you and your amazing family please stay safe and enjoy your reading 📖 and wishing you both all the best and amazing luck with your New Year of 2023 love your family friend John ❤❤
Amo verte usando una camiseta argentina!! Somos campeones!! Yo este año leí el fanfic de HP más famoso Carry On y lo amé!! Feliz Navidad y Feliz Año Nuevo!! Muchos besos desde Argentina!! Espero que pronto nos vuelvas a visitar!!
Re: not feeling like enough for either side, I think it is less about you not measuring up and more about you not having the same experiences. Speaking as an immigrant who moved to the US, I've had seen so many first gen try to claim their parents' experience as their own--the struggle of immigration, of the unique isolation of not being familiar with your surroundings--that first gens will just....never get tbqh. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, they were just raised in a different environment and will therefore have different experiences, different contextual references, and different connections that they should do more to be proud of.
To put it more succinctly, your experience of the culture of your relatives will always be filtered through whatever translates best in your situation. But translation never quite matches its original context--that is the paradox of translation. That doesn't make the translated version any less good or real.
That’s definitely fair and makes sense, still a funny place to be when you don’t totally fit into either side- neither the place you were born nor the nationality you relate to most
@@BrittanytheBibliophile Oh absolutely! Not knocking diaspora or first/second gen folks at all, cas I do think it is really healthy esp when you are raised *by* someone in that culture to connect with it on your own terms. ime the instinct to say "but you're american" from folks back home can be super divisive for no real reason, esp given it is usually said within the family, though usually said out of love (i.e. you have different advantages than we do). If anyone ELSE tries to tell you that tho, remind them its none of their business lmao.
I’m half Filipino x half Caucasian, and I am white passing. I’m always made to feel that I’m just white because I can’t speak Tagalog, I don’t look filo, an live in Australia! Its very hurtful
She’s has some pretty awful things to say about the trans community and only ever doubles down on her opinions, so she’s just not an author I care to support
