Wish we had this kind of clay in Canada. Our stoneware clay here is only oven safe not stovetop safe.

I agree! There are many things that break when you put things made of normal clay on the stove! If petalite is mixed, it will become a pot soil!

Kiraku San, sumimasen, my Japanese is not good enough to understand everything... Could you please tell me what kind of clay and firing temperature you are using? Do you glaze the pot? I want to make my own clay pot but I'm worried it will crack on the stove. You can answer in Japanese, I can read kanji, I'm from Taiwan. :)

Thanks for your comment. This clay is for pot soil only. Since it has high fire resistance, it is a clay that can be used on a stove or an open flame. Ordinary pottery clay will crack if placed on an open flame. In Japan, it is sold as clay for pot soil. Also, the glaze uses normal glaze. The firing temperature is 1230 ° C. Please refer to it!

@@kiraku-pottery Thank you so much for your fast reply! Can I add grog or something else to normal high-fire clay to make it usable for pots?
@jc802

@@kiraku-pottery Also, where I live we use mostly electric stoves. I wonder how it works for that? Thank you so much! :)
@kiraku-pottery
@kiraku-pottery 3 года назад
Thank you for your reply. I don't think it can be used with an electric stove because it does not transfer heat. It's okay if it's an open flame or an oven. I can't say the exact thing because I don't know what to mix with the clay. It can be used by mixing materials with strong heat resistance such as petalite. Please do your best!

Thanks for your comment! It was... This video did not have English subtitles. You can't communicate in Japanese, right? Do you know how to make it by watching the video? If I have time, I would like to make a video with English subtitles made by Donabe.

No, I can’t speak Japanese 😞😭 But I would truly appreciate if you add English subtitle … Have you tried to make a rice cooker pot ? It looks similar to donabe but has two lids , one is inside lid , I think it has special holes and structure … Thank you for your attention !
@kiraku-pottery
@kiraku-pottery 4 года назад
The structure of the rice clay pot is difficult. I think that it has a double lid to increase the pressure, but a simple lid can be substituted. This video is a rice cooker called "Kamameshi" made in Japan. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pZhoggdYU6U.html It is made of refractory clay, so you can cook rice. Please refer to.

@kiraku-pottery
@kiraku-pottery 4 года назад

@kiraku-pottery
@kiraku-pottery 3 года назад
