I think it's about time you get over your fear of learning jazz tunes by seeing just how similar they all are and how little effort is really required to get the progressions into your bones. Melody comes last. First is knowing the song on your internal jukebox (a lot of listening to different versions) but then come the chords! Herein, I go through jazzstudies.us - a website I've often mentioned - picking out random songs and showing you just how easy they are. Lots of knowledge dropped. Requests welcome for anything in particular.

I must say this is a fantastic video lesson, thanks Dan. First, the way you present the contents is very creative. I wonder how did you do that. I saw you had a laptop at top of the keyboard to project lead sheets but I don’t know how you put that and your performance together. Brilliant, indeed. I got your key points of common chords progression of Jazz repertoires. I do have two requests for you to consider for future tutorial lessons i.e. “My Funny Valentine”, and “New York, New York”. I love “Skylark” which you had introduced back in 2020. By the way I love Ms. Linda Ronstadt sung the song. You said “Very easy to play so why not give it a go?” And, I did. It is a very nice exercise.👍😀

Thanks very much, Andrew. I wish the YT algorithm felt the same way! Usually it pushes longer videos and this is a unique format. Maybe in a few days it will get pushed... I did a usual video as always but screen-recorded a custom area (the chords part of the page). I then inserted the video from the phone and the screen video file and found how to change the opacity of one of them, so they layered together. I will do a chord tutorial for MFV and NY NY! Today, I'll do the improv part for All The Things You Are... and maybe for Moonlight Serenade too. The summer is ending here now, with a sudden drop of 12 degrees on Monday so I can finally start living and functioning like a normal human!!! Glad you gave Skylark a go... it's quite easy, isn't it! @@danthecomposer You are very kind. Please take your time to proceed, no need to get all done in once. I have plenty to work on. Thanks for your explanation, honestly I am not sure I got it. No worry I will get it one day. Currently I focus on “All The Things You Are” (Ab key). I like the melody (music) and words . I just need your inputs on “intro” and “out-tro” (for ending chords) as you proceed the Section C. Yes, here I sense Autumn is near with day temperature in 85 F instead of 95 F daily. It feels so good. Take care and have a lovely weekend. 🙋‍♂️
