I have hust ordered one the only thing unsue of is the free months trail bit false advertising as it starts on the day you order it .the kit can take up to 9 days to arrive and then at least 2 weeks for result so not really a free month is it

It would have been interesting for Lydia to have done it as well to see if Andrew's Eastern European and Balkan showed up in Lydia's heritage. I wonder why they only mention Irish, Scottish and Welsh, but no English

The in time they rerun the results and it changes ..so for Ethnicity…it’s not very accurate and just fun.

I'm on Ancestry, I started my tree in 2009. Then a few Christmas's back Jez bought me a DNA kit. I had to spit in a tube. Helped me discover my great grandfather as my gran was illegitimate

I did Ancestry and it was uncanny as I had DNA from the exact part of Ireland that my great grandfather came from and the part of Oxfordshire that my grandad came from. I'm Hull born and I too am 16% Scandinavian. I reconnected with my second cousins down south, i found out my slightly distant relatives ran a limousine company in Jersey with the family name and it's still there to this day, they were occupied by the Germans in the war and were forced to drive German top ranking military people about. I also found out that my Great Great uncle was a vice commandant of a branch of the IRA that were involved in massacre at the hands of the black and tans and it remains infamous in Irish history, there are books about it with him in. For those saying it's rubbish, it's something you need to try before you judge it. My bugbear with Ancestry is it became too expensive to keep a membership just for the odd new nugget of info they'd send me and they don't let you see them once you've ended your membership.

Andrew, your Scandinavian ancestors were more than likely the Angles & Jutes that arrived in England in the 8th century. Alternatively it could be Norman ancestry after William the conqueror. Your Celtic blood could be ancient Briton which were pushed westwards into Wales and the west of England after the Angles arrived. Check your forefathers surnames for any recent Irish ancestry which happened a lot in the mid 19th century immigration into Liverpool & Glasgow in particular.

Good to hear of both of yours..Did mine about 5 years ago,I'm 50% Irish,from my mother's side,then English,Scottish and Welsh,and some Swedish,Denmark and Norway from fathers side,Well the Scandinavian part has to come from been invaded by the Vikings etc.I did mine thru' Ancestry,and you get regular updates from them too..

They've updated their results since yesterday so everyone's has changed. MyHeritage is a lot better now. You will have different results now. You will most probably lose things like Finnish, Balkan etc possibly others.

I once tried that test and apparently I'm related to Mahatma Gandhi but had been out to a Indian restaurant the night before and done the swabs the morning after 😅👍

I did this haven’t heard the results but what they did try was to put me on a subscription and charge me £114 a month which I cancelled.

It should tell you if your Eastern European ancestry is from your mom or dad's side. Other DNA test companies do this.
