'I warn you' Neil Kinnock revisits his famous 1983 speech 40 years later 

I heard in person Neil Kinnock say, paraphrasing a biblical line, " A prophet is not recognised in his own land". How right he was. The same type of person who ignored him then and voted for Thatcher, voted for Cameron, May and Johnson and they still want us to believe that 'we're all in this together'.

40 years later and nobody listened and will not again .. so nothing changed and his words are still right.

I cried when I heard this speech the first time. I am old now, and more fortunate than many, but I cried again listening to Neil Kinnock now. It's no comfort at all that I never voted for any of this. Why weren't people listening then? Are they listening now?

after all we went through with Thatcher and Major people still didn´t learn any thing, and here we are again.

How prophetic, and yet no one will listen, no one will change, no one will rise up, no one will take the hard but absolutely essential action needed to really fight the system now. We are at a crossroads, the need is dire and urgent

Several decades ago, I was told that EVERY country in the world, gets the caliber of leaders that the people actually deserve... If that's the case, then we in the UK must have been very, very bad in the last 40 odd years... Much respect to Neil Kinnock, and others who have made predictions, which ultimately came true.... Right now, it seems that the people who COULD do something about our disastrous country, are keeping their heads well down... And who could blame them ????

The best Prime Minister we never got to have. This man was a visionary of great sagacity. He told you what they would do, then years later, Johnson et-al showed you how right he was and Sunak continues proving Neil Kinnock’s warnings with every PM question time.

A spooky, scary and chilling speech from Kinnock in which he basically lays out what can only be described as an Orwellian dystopian nightmare a la1984! It might have been thought of being over the top at the time it was given! However, it does not feel that way now, I am both sorry and alarmed to say!

And Kinnock never won ......... because he told the truth. To quote Jack Nicholson "You can't handle the truth" Will we fall for the Tory line of "Jam Tomorrow" (Build Back Better or Leveling Up) yet again ???

We never seem to learn. It makes me very sad for the country that I love.

Never forget the damage the Tories have done to this country.

So why didn't people listen 40 years ago when Mr Kinnock warned us of this? Why didn't people listen in 1974 when Sir Keith Jospeh told the general public what a future Tory Government was likely to do.

I remember that speech. My goodness how right he was.

Loathe though I am to say it but the Tories of 40 years ago when compared to the current crop looked distinctly superior! Clearly the inmates have taken over the lunatic asylum! Tbh the New Labour mob are not much better! Worryingly, the UK political landscape has declined tragically to the point where we are replicating the US model i.e. there is very little that differentiates the two major parties from each other! For a brief period it looked like something interesting could happen when Corbyn was Labour leader and he attempted to resuscitate the traditional Labour approach. However, that was not to be for various reasons and consequently we are now stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place imo! It is about time a new political entity took the bull by the horns and led us out of this mess! It hurts me say this but our political leaders have become a laughing stock internationally!

I've never voted Tory, couldn't stand them ..I was told 40 years ago by a house of lords politician ..when you reach retirement there will be no money left to pay your pension.!! My first retirement payment was due 5 years ago,..today I have received nothing having paid my taxes and NI. I now live overseas and now iam the one of 500,000 who had there pension frozen by this criminal government. When I paid my taxes I never agreed or signed up for any government to Re neg on there responsibilities and honour my full pension. Nobody in the UK government has any morality or sense of responsibility and nobody gives a dam about us 500,000 who have been duped by politicians of current and past governments. Not a single thought how 500,000 created pensioners manage to survive makes my blood boil with utter frustration and anger .. who now will ever raise this injustice and overturn this crime .... The UK has zero credibility, promoted discrimination in the cause to save money 💸 and cheat t pensioners. FUCK the DWP for failing our service and hard work paying my taxes to Keep the Royals in the lap of luxury. I like kinnock but why is everbody so impressed with this speech when he got almost all of it wrong?
