I left JW in 1961 at age 17. I really enjoy these stories of people waking up.

I was finally free after 42 years! I was a 4th generation born in, my children the 5th! Funny enough, my kids were the ones who said, this isn’t biblical teaching, it’s man’s word. So I left when they did. I’ve been out 10 years now and we are all so much happier!!! I wish I had left sooner. I don’t know how they duped me for so long! I consider myself a smart person, and I look back and and wonder how I let them lie to me for so many years. The only one still left in, was my mother, she shunned me & my kids. My kids I’m like ok, they both got disfellowshipped. I wasn’t though. Everyone I’ve known here in my town, just acted like I was invisible! Even my mother! The last thing my mother said to me was. “You’re going to die with your kids!” My reply was, “well, I’ll be dead and won’t know it!!! “ Just so happy to be free! My beautiful daughter is getting married next month! My son married his ex wife again, she’s still a JW but, she’s not in it! She’s seen the, the writing on the wall if you will ! If you’re still in, there’s hope! I mean I like on the same street as the KH!!!! LOL🤣 great video!👍

I'm sure that the more we can all share our stories whether a long saga or short snippet, the more that new and cautious defectors from the WT will see that they are not alone. Bless this man!! His smile absolutely melts my heart. I’m only at the part of the interview where his mom and siblings disown him, and I’m furious. I don’t know how this still surprises me, as I’m a 3rd generation born-in who left at 18 years old. I went through the whole “we will erase every memory that you were even born” ordeal, but my parents are inconsistent and they eventually got over it and still love me. I can’t say we are close, because unless I keep our conversations very superficial, they will go into recruitment mode. Still, in the moment my mom said that they were disowning me, it was just more proof of this being a cult.

What a great Interview. I am so sorry for what he and many others have and had to endure true life. All do to a wicket cult and unscriptural ideas. No one should have the power to control families like these deadly cults...terrible. There should be a world law that do not allow cults, organization or corporations intervene with families the way the do. So surprise that in these day and age they are getting away with these crimes. I admired what Russia has done, they truly put a stop to it as they did saw the crimes clearly.

Great interview!! Quite curious that at his mother's funeral, it was like two different groups of people. Also, how a belief can squeeze one of the most important qualities out- love and attachment- ultimately what we personify God as well as the "fruits of the spirit". There are some religions that gain my respect. I do listen to those who have left religion entirely as well as bible scholars such as Bart Ehrman. I love that freedom listening and looking at people individually instead of someone who needs to become a JW- bait for studies. Robert is a wonderful person. I personally am still in a bad spot due to how the religion shaped me. Happy with where my head is at but hate my predicament and life.

Hello Robert, Same age as me. I was D/Fd in 2018. I was not born in and was always an independent person, ex GM of Mining Company, always asked questions as it was my right, discussed with others. My Crime was disseminating apostate thoughts

Loved this interview he sounded like my old circuit overseer. I joined my local parish last year and we have Methodists come in and give services in our church twice a year.

What a lovely guy. He has a mischievous smile and an endearing sense of humour. His story is quite different and I love how he found his vocation and the fact that he had a wonderful father. Thank you.

Great perspective. Robert experience at the funeral. Its demonic how watchtower disciples carry the shunning even to the most somber life events, no compassion at all. Unlike the gospels they just don't get it.

I loved his nonchalant comment about clocking in on field service time and going to the library and reading about psychology and other interesting topics. The emphasis that the JW organization puts on field service hours to prove the commitment and growth of the organization and the progress towards the end of days is such a joke and a lie. I knew an elder who would go on date nights with his wife, and make a phone call to a study and count the entire time. Then the next day, give a talk about how honest JW’s are, and in fact were the only ones and Nazis trusted to shave them. I’m looking forward to reading your books, they sound interesting.

And now I find out he is from Manchester...so in both Clydebank and Manchester congregation,s I have many friends from this time period...Robert and I have probably many friends in common....

I think Robert has just answered my question...looks like he served in Clydebank congregation.... We were just one congratulation away from him and therefore we would have been in the same circuit ..

Can I ask where in Scotland did you serve as a special?

asking permission from men who are not called of God, it's unreal, yet that type of behavior still goes on and it's very sad, because it's a way of them interpreting the verses in the bible and innately we all know it's not correct. Can you imagine the Savior on earth telling you to stay away from your family members who are goodly people but do not believe in Him at the time, of course not.

They can say every thing on watch tower why they left ,but with tough reasons ,but they had stay in jehovah cult for decades during decades why they left as I said for f reasons.
