There is literally a website dedicated to Messi vs. Ronaldo stats. Messi wins out in all aspects except for 1: Heading :) So unless you decide heading is the most important in football then the GOAT debate should be long dead. Messi is a once in a lifetime player. Hope one day there will be someone as good or better, but I doubt I will ever see it. Ronaldo is an amazing player though! The fact that he's even compared to Messi is a testament to his great ability.

My dad hesitated to add drama haha. The video is meant to entertain which is why I posed the question in the first place....as for Maradona, that's kind of a generational thing...I just got back from Buenos Aires two weeks ago & a lot of older people will say the same thing...also for them, Maradona resonated more from a cultural perspective. There's deep layers to this and as an American I don't fully understand but I'm making an effort

Is not that you were wrong about Messi, it's just that you looked at it from the perspective of an opposite team and, that, in itself, may give you a bias position against the game rivals. This is going to be normalized, Miami winning, because the team is learning to play together. Now add the new, more experience guys joining them soon, Inter will be "almost" unstoppable. I'm glad you and your dad had the chance to witness greatness.

Inter Miami scoring that way against Philadelphia Union these days explains a lot. Messi, Busquets and Alba are pushing a gradual revolution of their game from the core. Because we must understand that this is a team sport and you need a lot of training and playing to find the perfect association with your team mates, although many, many teams never achieve that. In Miami side, when the team game was not enough for them, well, there was Messi with his magical moments that makes him the GOAT.

Messi is a playmaker as well as a coach on the pitch, he's a genius, quick to read situations & immediately organizes tactics (as Guardiola said, Messi is more dangerous when he's just walking and looking around reading/scanning situations). It can be said that Inter Miami players are quite good and quickly adapt to follow Messi's rhythm and are ready to follow Messi's directions including receiving his long passes, it seems they are getting used to the tiki-taka pattern. These young players will continue to develop & it is not impossible that the Messi era Inter Miami will be at the forefront next season.

Just that WC???? Sorry but you need to look for Napoli history. Is obvious that you haven´t seen Maradonas carreer or any football match of him or anything at all. You can like Messi more between the two, but you can´t compare two different futbolers, personalitys (what they meant in their time to us) and brillant carreers and outstanding skills that both had. (by the way watch also how it was played back then). It´s not all about records, its about the actual game of and how you play it and both are from another world.

Philly has a good team, la pulga (the flee) is just out of this world! @pops, in terms of fútbol proficiency and creativity Maradona and Messi are comparable. I personally think Messi is better, but in terms of being a decent and humble human being, there is no comparison. El Pelusa (Madrona) not even close to Messi. At this point I don’t understand why CR7 is even in the conversation! Cheers!

@StateOfSoccer

What most Americans are missing about Inter Miami is when they think that it’s just about Messi when it has 3 of the best players that played in their respective positions when FC Barcelona won its quadruple titles: Jordi, Sergio, and Messi.
@StateOfSoccer
@StateOfSoccer 10 месяцев назад
Totally agree with you...but in fairness only Messi made all of this possible. But in that match we gave Sergio way too much time and space. Our back line was constantly tracking Messi movements, and Martinez is also lethal. They're a tough team to stop at the moment...quality of our defenders in MLS needs to increase

@The7dioses 10 месяцев назад

Americans are used relying on scores for emotion. That's the way it is in NFL, NBL. This is a different kind of game. You generally don't see high scores, unless the difference between the two teams is significant. Football (not soccer) culture is not yet widespread in the US, but it will be pretty soon. The magic of football is in the teamwork, the passing, the rotation, the triangulation, the exquisite technique of some of the more talented players, the ones who are capable of changing a game with a couple of touches and pulling the unexpected from a hat. When you learn to watch for that, you will enjoy it far more. Messi is the undisputed GOAT, not just because of his skills, but because of his football IQ. He sees things nobody else sees. This has a huge impact on his teammates. He just makes everybody play better because he's the ultimate team player. He never cared about being a superstar. He's just a competitive beast, but he understands he can't do it alone, no matter how skillful he may be. It's like an orchestra conductor, except in his case, he also plays first violin like nobody.

as a Union fan...this just confirmed that our window is closed....Unless this great academy of ours is the next La Maison, we are done...Miami took 3 of Barca's O-30s and in 5 or 6 games, turned this league into one of those 3 Pros vs 100 3rd grader videos...Name me one World Class player that is going to choose Chester/Philly...Only chance we have is if Pulisic wants to be close to home if he ever decides to come to MLS...
@StateOfSoccer
@StateOfSoccer 10 месяцев назад
I don’t totally agree. We’ll continue to build from within. This Miami team is beatable IMO. Look at the second half. MLS teams are going to be forced to improve their defense. It’s shocking because the Union have a solid backline…but they’re not good enough to shut down Busqueta, Alba, and Messi. We need to retool quickly, and keep drawing from our academy. Maybe sign a couple world class defenders & a lethal finisher.
@jspring9588
@jspring9588 10 месяцев назад
@@StateOfSoccer right now Miami may be beatable....next year? after a year to acclimate the scrubs with those 3? no chance... They made Glesnes, Elliott, and Blake look like amatuers, and your right they are a solid MLS defence...sign a couple world class defenders and a lethal finisher?!?!? I mean sure we do but so does Liverpool., Man United etc....Who is going to choose to come to Philly?
@StateOfSoccer
@StateOfSoccer 10 месяцев назад
@@jspring9588 so you’re calling Josef Martinez and Cremaschi a scrub? World class comes at many different ages & stages. Look at Alba and Busquets…they’re not playing for ManU or LFC now are they? But I still consider them World Class…and no they wouldn’t come to Philly..sure, it’s tough to recruit to Philly, but it isn’t impossible. The union are more than capable of recruiting some talented veteran defenders that can step up. If Messi really does improve the profile of the league that much…then players will be looking to join MLS…and Philly is still a top-5 market, on the east coast, has a solid club, and is a neighbor to places like NYC (stuff an international would care about). We’re not a total loss for recruitment lol
