Actor Joseph Benjamin share his experience of being ignored by other actors at a gathering after he returned from his 6-year stint away from the industry
America is a humbling place. There is dignity in labor. I wish my entitled relatives will all get visas so they understand the sacrifices I have made for the extended family for decades. There is no big man or woman here.
Exactly but we do not blame them 100% , it is some people in media that lie and make like coming abroad is easy, as soon as you step abroad you get the best job and it is great and no bills etc .
I met him at chafford hundred station and he was soooo nice to me, I was with my son in the pram and I was struggling with the barrier. He helped me with the gate . Thank you
Seriously, there is nothing wrong with driving UBER. The problem we have in Nigeria is that we idolize sudden wealth without asking how it was gotten. This is the reason our BOLT/UBER drivers have an attitude in Nigeria. There is dignity in labour.
Wow!!!! This was an wholesome conversation. I love the way God is raising more generals for the kingdom. @ The Joseph Benjamin thank you for sharing your process and faith.
I was amazed to see Joseph Benjamin on A Time to Heal, Greenleaf family. A movie produced by Ophrah Winfrey. You have really come a long way, Thanks for sharing your story with us❤
This is one of the realest and most inspiring videos I've watched. I teared up. Wisdom literally exudes from every word you utter. Thanks for sharing your story. You are truly great. Maximum respect!!
Before you leave Nigeria, have second plan. It is not the way the paint abroad. I have experienced Nigeria, Europe (Portugal, Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany) and I am in US now. We experience life directly. May our life be inspiring.
So much to unpack from this clip! Wow. As Nigerians and if I can say Africans, we do not yet understand when they say, there's dignity in labor. When you travel to the western world you will get it. 😊😊Can we begin to refine and re-orientate our mindset so we can position ourselves and be ready for our next level?
I dont know why Teju is soo surprised that he did Uber. You should interview Shola Shobowale and listen to how she left acting for a while, traveled abroad and did menial jobs. No job is too big for anyone biko as long as it takes care of your Bills
There is dignity in Labour abroad. Same way Alex ekubo wanted to demean fancy's dad that he rides Uber. Guess what it's not a big deal abroad. Infact uber drivers earn good money abroad
Driving Uber or Lyft in the US is not a big deal. House of Representatives members do it as part time jobs in America. There is dignity of labor in the West.
My brother from Kogi State whose acting skills in the movie, mr and mrs is unparalleled. Life is indeed a journey of inexplainable phases but with God and determination, one will surely arrive at the right destination
I think Tẹjú should use another captivating caption for the thumbnail. Medical doctors drive Uber and Lyft in the US, lawyers do. I live in the US, you can't practice any profession without passing either board exams or get some certifications. Those who are bank managers in Nigeria are here cutting vegetables in food factories. That is why it is hard when people just ask for money or are not satisfied with whatever you give.
I am exactly at this stage I breakdown most times I even had to do just eat with public buses (use a black nylon to cover my bag get into the NX BUS and when I get to mc Donald’s I take out the nylon pick my order cover the bag again get into the NXBUS and go to deliver) but when ever I get home and see the face of my wife I daughter I move again the next morning. Thank you JOSEPH THANK YOU TEJU
People make 6 figures driving Uber and Lyft and they do it working on their own schedule. We Africans need to get perspective. As long as one is making money legally, it doesn’t matter what you are doing. Many Africans will refuse to sell Garri or fry puff puff in Africa but you can’t try that abroad oh you will starve to death.
Nothing is wrong with Uber driver. They’re speaking from the perspective of someone who was much more comfortable and well known. It’s not a Nigerian mentality. It’s like seeing Ebuka BBN doing Uber to survive, tell me you won’t be surprised.
@@olawaleadeyankinnu4322 the issue is not about been surprised, it's about that uber job is demeaning. Look at the way Teju making it look like. Any person can do anything as long as it is honest. Dangote well captured it when been interviewed on Aljazeera on why he is not flamboyant, he said ' no condition is permanent ' He said he's aware he could lose his wealth the next morning.
its a Nigerian thing and they don't know better....what amazed me is that the people that I expected to come out and educate them better are the ones coming here to showcase and dignify their ignorance more all in a bid to remain relevant on the pedestal of their grandeur illusions 🤣🤣🤣....if you actually understand the phrase 'dignity in labour', then you would know and understand the absurdity of sharing the fact that you drove an uber in US as your lowest point in life.....or probably your God hates those people that drive uber as their everyday source of living or projecting the narrative that you're better than them or you carry higher grace or anointing as you have been indoctrinated in your mental reasoning through religion😍
Thank you. There's absolutely nothing wrong in driving Uber or Bolt or Lyft in Nigeria, Europe and America. A lot of people use it as their second employment to make extra money to cushion the pressure of bills. Anything that brings honest earnings is a thing of pride.
Imagine how powerful it will be when his story is adapted into a movie , it will be powerful! Because he has tasted both sides of the spectrum. Nice conversation, always love Joseph Benjamin!
Thank you Joseph for sharing your divine journey. Am not surprised.... God can never make a mistake.. you know what I mean, you are an ordinary person designed to live extraordinary life that brings glory to God. Am glad for you...Asa
I remember loosing all I had 2021 after loosing my father 2020, but here I am pastoring a local church and understanding daily why God allow all I had be taken away from me
When God wants to teach you humility, he does it his way, after you graduate from that school, you will know something has hit you, nothing can touch you after he has put you through that process.
A man with experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument reminds of this scripture 1corinthians chapter 2 vs 14 and 15. Good one Mr Joseph. Really appreciate and learn from your thoughts.
Unwise for u to have sold your cars and gift out your properties cos a friend wanted to make u join Hollywood..if I didn't really know you back I'm naija, I would have said, your set back brought humility to your life, but u have always been an humble soul, so saying all these, and your experience in Yankee, was a way for God to use u for His works...
There's dignity in labour abroad. To fit in ,you have to drop your status. There's nothing wrong with driving uber abroad, you even make money more than most bank managers in Nigeria.
This was a profound interview! Learnt so much, as I am on this immigrant journey myself. Thanks Joseph Benjamin. You were one of the best and "fine boys" on our screens 😂😂 Well done! May your path continually shine brighter brighter.. 🙏 Amen
We all have a deep story to tell about our experiences in America but when famous people tell theirs it sounds like no one has ever experienced worse, i for one has paid my dues!
So inspiring, was emotional at a point. There is a trying time for everyone, this time God is not silent. He only want to see you grow, see his plans for you. while you still doing his will.
