Nice! I agree, chucking lures in the surf is one of the most fun ways to fish. Ozark (Walmart brand) makes a small sized backpack cooler that isn’t terrible to take on the beach just in case you hook a fish wrong and want to keep it.

If you want to keep fish but stay mobile then keep a stringer with ya, you can attach it to your belt loops or something, and keep fish by you.

Back in ,the late 50,s my dad would surf fish gulf shores and dig holes on the beach and bury the fish .collect his catch when finished fishing.good luck.

Always thought Spanish were a constant fast moving all the time fish. After scolloping in Steinhatchee the last ten years they come right to you and hang out waiting to see what you push out of the grass and eat the little tiny stuff .

Hi You know what, here in PR are a lot of jacks from shore, I have found they like the medium to small lure can be poppers, metals, bucktails, lures, ect.. But your beach seems to shallow and have to cast very far away behind the soap.. here you can see them surfing the wave, so beautiful.. good luck By the way your favorite popper color is awesome I will paint one of mine like this to see if they like them as well!

I have never done any good trying plugging from the beach. I think it is a problem of fish density in the water. The species I get the most often up here in NC are whiting, Pompano, trout sometimes, flounder, and several species of drum. You get the occasional ray or shark. Spanish are usually farther out in the ocean here. I have gotten a few with Clarke spoons but that’s it. I hate seeing dolphin and porpoise up here. You might as well quit. I’ve caught the most Spanish trolling offshore in a boat. I love to eat Spanish but I hate King Mackerel. This was a very enjoyable video Matt!

Jacks are the hardest fighting fish pound for pound. I hooked a monster on bob sikes bridge had penn battle 2 rod and 50 lb braid and it peeled all the drag and broke me off. I thought the reel was gonna brake off the rod. True story Lol

Was down in Gulf Shores this weekend thanks for all the tips caught my first pompano Friday afternoon! The next day I caught one more pompano then my wife started fishing with me and she caught a pompano and then she caught a small slot red!! We had a great time thanks! Watched your video on tying pompano rigs and made me some and used them! Thanks again!!
