That is such a beautiful place! The sound of the water is so calming and relaxing. You may not have been able to swim in the pool, but I think you made a very smart decision to not get in, like you said, you wouldn't want to risk getting hurt. At least you got to take a quick dip by the falls. That was neat to see the trolley and I'm thinking you are right and that was some kind of bridge or dock too, very interesting! Awesome footage of the guys jumping off the cliff. Beautiful photos, the picture of that random boot is really cool! Looking forward to you returning. Great video JP, thank you!

I had those falls on the biggest screen I could get it and it was almost hypnotizing. I could watch the falls all day. The merky water could be from tannins from the nearby trees which turns water from the falls a dark brownish color. Those young guys have a lot of guts to jump like that. It took my breathe away just watching. You have such nice places to explore. I always love watching your videos.

I agree JP, that is interesting to see thoes cut out sections in the rock. Definitely looks like like it was wood compenets, that was inclosed into the rock. I think it was used for supporting a deck, it seems to make sense.

I forget how beautiful PA. is until I watch one of your videos. So many cool things to see in such a short length of water. Those squares cut out of the concrete were so random, yet purposeful. Great video! Èspecially since I'm down here in Florida with 92 degrees and a heat index of 105! That cool water looked soooooo good to me!

My guess on the retaining wall and timber platform is that there was a water powered mill there. That channel looks perfect for a water wheel and the water level was probably much higher before the step falls dam was built. Look at the height of the undercutting of the banks relative to the current water level.
@JPVideos81
@JPVideos81 Год назад
I know there was a mill downstream, but yes, that channel looks ideal for that.

That was a nice surprise find. The swimming holes looked so inviting. If I was younger I would have been jumping right along with those guys. Fun! Don't blame ya for not wanting to go in that murky water not knowing how deep it was or what's in it. I am the same way. Not knowing the depth doesn't bother me unless jumping from high up, but not knowing what I might hit does. Looking forward to you going back.
@scottghall1

My guess is a coffer dam for a grist mill. That deep area is probably where the water splashed down. The overturned platform may have been a sluice for directing the water into the mill wheel.

At 18:00, I am most sure that's a bridge from the twin bridge replacement project. I think I saw it on the news or in the newspaper. Some huge heavy duty plastic bags also came down. They were hanging in the trees in the river near the old rr bridge on the walking trail to Taylor. I think it happened 2 or 3 years ago. I also saw some bags near where the big pipe crosses the brook. Edit-Nov 12th, 2018 in the Times Tribune. Plastic mesh, tarps and what are sometimes called swamp mats ( wooden bridge you found ) were washed down from the Harrison Ave. bridge replacement project. The only thing, the one you found is upstream of that project. I can't find the story ( if there even is one ) about the twin bridge project getting flooded. I do remember seeing it for myself though. I am pretty sure it was the same storm.
@JPVideos81
@JPVideos81 Год назад
Yes, this is upstream and looks much older than something that was used for the bridge.
@rxc640
@rxc640 Год назад
@@JPVideos81 I have seen some of those mats when they were working on the pole line. They are in rough shape to begin with and this possibly traveled down the brook for almost 5 years. The article said one made it to the Elm Street bridge.

Wow--what a beautiful place! Could that piece of metal be the remains of an old tr4actor seat or some sort of heavy equipment?? I am terrified of water, so it scares me to death that you go into bodies of water alone, but I know you know what you are doing. I am glad you DID NOT go into that water! That square metal thing in the water looks like it might be a piece of the structure they blasted in your video. Isn't that the spot where they were doing demolition?? Those plank-like structures look like what was in the middle of the structure you had in the demolition video. If you go back and look at the blasting, the middle of the structure being blasted looks like the those linked together logs or boards to me and it probably drifted down to that location in a time of heavy rains and high water, right? Great exploration!! Yeah, that guy jumping from that waterfall could have hit something under that water and hurt himself, but he is probably local and knows where the obstacles are, hopefully. The waterfall is awesome though. Please be careful!!
@JPVideos81
@JPVideos81 Год назад
The bridge demolition was right next to the current bridge. The wooden plank bridge is a few hundred feet upstream from where the bridge was imploded.

Yes, I am the same way. I want to see what in the water. I bet that was an old bridge from way way back in the day. I have been spending time swimming at lake guntersville but the heat wave has made the water hot and not refreshing. The local swimming hole, called High Fallls, not far from the house is so low because of lack of rain. When the water isn't moving I stay away because the snakes are so bad. I like it there because you can see the bottom except where the falls churn up the water. My neighbor up the road has broken his back jumping from the falls. He didn't break his back not once nor twice but three times...lol...it took 3 times for him to quit jumping the falls...lol. I Will not in any way jump into water that I can't see what I am jumping into. See... because I took a break from swimming I actually got to watch your video the day you put it out 😂😂😂 ✌
