Under such circumstance if someone makes alliance or friendship with the enemies, then they are on their own, Allâh would not protect them. The message of this verse does not apply to casual friendship at work or school since 60:8-9 expressly allow making friendship with unbelievers who are not hostile to the Muslims and circumstances of war does not exist between them. Even Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] did business with the people of the book.The Arabic word for 'Friend' is 'Khalil' not 'Awliya'. This verse is understood as a political issue.For example,China and USA are not ally.But a Chinese and an American can be friends as there is no enmity with each other.

No. I never made it to the embassy. I became muslim, they threw me out of the group, the university and my family disowned me. Alhamdu lillah الحمد لله Allah allowed me to finish the University, my family returned (my mom took shahadah before she died), and I now live and work in a Muslim country and I make dawaa - Teaching others about Islam.
