After a jungle survival adventure in the Lao rainforest with the Hmong, we had caught a lot of fish so I was invited to cook and eat with a Hmong family in a Lao mountain village or hill tribe in Xaysomboun province near Vientiane Laos. I tried all kinds of traditional and authentic Hmong and Lao foods and learnt how they are cooked. I also got to see Ked's traditional Hmong home and see how the Hmong tribal people live off the land everyday. Come and join me while I experience the real Hmong culture and hospitality here in Laos.

Usually Hmong men always eat first & Hmong women always eat last. Some still practice that tradition here in the US. Now.....some families will let the women join in at the table, or sometimes the women will have their own table eating at the same time.
@ceciliachang5735

That's only when you do spiritual stuff or something happened men will eat first, but at home when nothing happened everyone eats all.
@MikeyLee559
@MikeyLee559 Год назад
@@ceciliachang5735 yes at home Is different because that's your family, but when outside family join cook outs and other stuff men chop meat women do all the other stuff cleaning cooking preparing plates and setting dinner tables, while men chill and get drunk. Men eat first while women eat separately. Pretty lame and unfair but that's just how it is lol. It's the culture.

I can't help feeling that he wasn't totally honest about why the women weren't joining u. Presumably they did all this for a fee and the meal at the end was part of the gig. Their family weren't on the pay role and it would have been awkward with the language barrier. Your friend would be the designated interpreter and it would have been stressful on top of all the other stuff he had to do. Totally understandable and it was sweet he was slightly embarrassed and was scrambling for an answer. Top bloke and great video!
