When we recreated the classic techniques that brought Thunderbirds to life back in the 1960s, we knew that the new episodes would require some "human hand inserts" - shots of real people standing in for the puppet heroes' hands and feet when the action called for something that marionettes simply couldn't do! In this scene, Lady Penelope needed to struggle against The Hood's restraints and Geraldine Donaldson bravely agreed to step in. It was a bonding experience for the whole crew!
The team at Century 21 Films created three special Anniversary Episodes of Thunderbirds by taking authentic 1960s voice recordings and pairing them with brand new visuals produced in the classic style. "The Abominable Snowman", "Introducing Thunderbirds" and "The Stately Homes Robberies" are all available to stream on ITVX.

It was founded by a group of filmmakers who first collaborated on Filmed in Supermarionation, the story of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's hit puppet shows including Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet.
Since then, we have worked for a multitude of high-profile clients including ITV, BBC, Mammoth Productions, British Film Institute and the Halifax working on projects such Thunderbirds, Endeavour, Doctor Who and The Twilight Zone.
In addition to our regular filmmaking services, we specialise in ‘Supermarionation’ - the puppetry filming technique used to make shows like Thunderbirds and have collaborated with ITV repeatedly to provide specialised services.
