Total chad, his delivery on national TV isn’t even awkward. Tbh I feel like he comes across awkward in his regular videos, but here he looked confident as!
No it wasn't. And that's ok. Not everything needs to be perfect. If he was totally comfortable in that interview it would be a *miracle* Given how stressful it might have been, he did an amazing job, yes. But it was not the perfect interview. I mean, if you compare him in it to Trash Taste, the difference is stark - he's obviously not as comfortable. Just like people are too eager to criticize, they're also too eager to mindlessly defend. Transparency and constructive criticism are almost absent.
The TV spot was surprisingly well organized and packed with key footage from your YT channels, it went fast and smooth and there was great rapport with the hosts; Believe me I've seen plenty of cringe moments by huge name stars on legacy media but this felt very complete.
its pretty cool to see that the news anchors, who i imagine probably don't game or watch anime, seemed to have a genuine level of appreciation and respect for what joey does and how much success he's had
That's good journalism right there. They did enough research beforehand to actually be able to engage with their interview subject and get them to properly express what they've been invited over to express.
He probably felt more nervous knowing it was live so if he unconsciously swore or did something else that looked a bit sus, basically any mistake at all, they couldn't just do another take and it would be seen by everyone watching including family and friends. He was probably super self conscious because of that and that made him feel awkward. Like everyone else in the comments I also have to tell him not to worry as he came across absolutely fine.
That is actually a good interview. The interviewer do their homework and look genuinely interested in what they asking. No over sensational questions or probing. Just curious and very polite. You did good Joey. Your answer is very professional.
I was absolutely shocked when Joey popped up on the ABC a few weeks ago, for a second I thought it must’ve been someone else. It must be amazing to reach the level of success where you’re asked to appear on national TV. From an Australian fan, we’re proud of you!
You really really seemed natural, not awkward at all. I've been on TV a few times over the years (taking about my comics or events like the Malta Comic Con), even those early early morning TV shows so I can understand how you can still feel nervous inside. But my viewership is Malta... yours is Australia!! You seemed really natural. Good job!
You may have felt awkward, but you were really humble and did the interview really well. Proud of ya, dude. America has ABC as well. American Broadcasting Company. Its channel 7 for us. I use to watch Saturday morning cartoons on this channel along with Fox5 (before it went to shit), and WB11. Now I just watch the news on my ABC. They don’t do morning cartoons anymore. Lol
Just like to add, even young people still watch the ABC in Australia. The public channels (the ABC and the SBS channels) still generally have good content like Hard Quiz, Rage, Gardening Australia, cooking shows, World Cinema, and what not. The commercial channels are generally not that good unless you like reality tv.
This was a great interview Joey!! The hosts were great and actually showed you and the greater gaming/anime/nerd community the respect it so often doesn't get on mainstream media. Good stuff!
I’m so proud of you! I’m Australian and I had no idea you were even on live tv, probably because I watch barely any tv anymore. But either way, its so great that Trash Tastes is doing so well. I kinda get it as well. I can tell you and the boys put so much effort into it. Its all very well deserved.
As someone in the same age as the boys I have to say, kudos Mr. Joey Bizinger. Very nice 🎉🎉🎉 ABC has an audoence of 300k daily incl. rewatchables. Cool
Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and it's the channel that is owned by all of us. Govt funded with no ads. Congrats on being on the best Australian telly channel.
Don't know why people are saying traditional news channels are dead. It's just a different audience. ABC in Australia get 250,000+ live viewers for their morning segments so they still have a pretty big reach that probably doesn't overlap that much with the online demographics that usually watch Joey.
@@poutine1469 Cause he's been doing it for a decade and he's not as meek as Garnt to keep catering to his audience constantly even though he's feeling burned out
@@comkioxdGarnt has reduced the amount of anime he's consuming but seeing things like his mushoku tensei review, It's clear to me that he still holds the medium dearly
@@mrdozey7361 It's not a commercial if no money changes hands. Guests can talk about whatever they want as long as the host doesn't stop them or production cuts it.
That was a pretty wholesome TV segment, and I think you handled it pretty well! The hosts were also nice, and not condescending and rude as some can be about nerd culture on other channels across the globe.
I personaly really liked your interview. Didn't feel awkward at all to me. Keep making great content and stay true to yourself! Also liked the fact that you rocked the Nonsense hoodie on live TV! 😉👍🏻
good job Joey! Just means you've expanded your audience and showing the older Aussies how youtubers really are and might check you out.. (im in my 40's btw and an aussie!)
Must've been insanely stressful going onto that but damn you pulled it off perfectly, can't really detect any awkwardness or anything from it. Seemed super natural, you did great!
I got to say Joey.. you're such a natural at talking in front of the camera now that none of the awkwardness you were feeling showed during your interview. Great job and so happy for you.
Very cool to see you on abc TV Joey As an Australian it's so awesome to see people from the internet sphere getting more recognition and promotion in I guess what was main stream media. Would love to make it to dreamhack and have seen you guys live, but unfortunately, I'm in South Australia and couldn't make it over. Hope the show was great and you guys are enjoying your time back down here
I think mainstream media are finally starting to realise that they are totally out of touch with their audience and more and more people get all their news and discussion from RU-vid. If they don't change, they will die.
It souns so surreal, Joey. I'd have the same reaction if I was on an American channel like ABC family. Even if it's not as watched as it was when we were growing up, it's still really cool and I'm glad you had fun. You did rather well so it's not as bad as you might believe. I get being critcal of yourself though. Love the pod and it is very natural feeling. That's why I liked it from the start. Also, can't help thinking, "nobody in Australia is surprised that the Japanese kid likes anime" lol. All the best to you. Thanks for sharing this!
I think you did great on the show! I understand how you kind of felt, was on the English Montreal news once about the Ice storm of 98 and how we survived without power for about a month, it was mostly my dad talking. Also Hahaha, even though I'm Canadian, I know about the ABC (the Australian one, US aslo has ABC too), I downloaded and watched Chasers War on Everything. 😆
Damn. You were super well spoken on the live TV segment, props! I imagine in such a quick rush it'd be easy to get tripped up and not find the correct words but you did fantasticly!
Nice job Joey, I didn't detect any awkwardness at all, you came across in your usual pleasant way, confident and engaging, good on ya mate! - from a Kiwi Fan.
Goddamn ABC's vibes seem so wholesome. Love it. ABC is Australia's national broadcaster by the way. The equivalent in Japan is the NHK. Best channel in Australia. Good stuff mate.
eyyy looking great on TV, only a little bit awkward at the start^^ awesome to see that the Australian mainstream media is more open to the "new media". we are the mainstream now :D
