My favourite meal is cod and chips, cooked in crispy light batter, with crispy well cooked chips eaten at the seaside with the fresh sea breeze and the sound of seagulls flying high above. Someone said that seagulls need the wind beneath their wings to float stationary high in the air, not at Seaton Carew they didn't! 🙂 x

That is a bargain for London. Up here where I am in Glasgow cod is a rarity, about £9 for a haddock supper, and a chippy in town charges about £15 for a cod supper (Supper means added chips btw). That was a great portion you got as well! I am quite envious.

Good Afternoon my Friend DJ. I would say that the review starts at the door, before you go in to the Establishment. I could tell that, this was one of those Special places. Very Lovely Atmosphere, Excellent Customer Service with a smile and a Warm Welcome. The fryer put at least 5 Scoops of very Well cooked Golden Brown Chips in to your Take Away recepticle, and then he positioned on top of your Chips a very Good Fillet of Cod. I thought that the mushy were not to bad. It did like a very Good meal for your money. This is London after all. I was very Impressed DJ. GIGs, a very much I must go and visit this Beautiful Establishment sometime. Thank you DJ.

Now that's what I'm talking about mate. A good portion of fish and chips, well cooked, brilliant price but actually quite cheap for London, what more could you ask for. I'm putting this one on my list for sure. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I love food.

I live in Hastings which still has an active fishing fleet here on the South Coast and I'd call that exceptional value for anywhere, let alone Central London.

Very peaceful for London. Not a fish person but that looked delicious. Tbh it's nice to see that for a Greek possibly Cypriot place (lol) nice to see Fish and Chips was not just an add on if you know what I mean. Once again Darren you've found a little gem. Good value for money ❤

I think a lot of people forget that sub £10 wasn't unusual a few years back for cod and chips pre cost of living crisis. So whilst it might be a smaller portion, its nice to see fast food outlets can still make these prices work.

We don't have too many "proper" fish & chips here in Cyprus but all the ones I know are back here after having fish & chip shops in the UK. My nearest one is Oh My Cod and is amazing.

Lucky me I work nearby, I was there a week ago and been going to Gigs for years, a great little family owned place. On the other side of Russell Square by Marchmont Street I also recommend The North Sea, again family owned and with free chip refills.

I can remember recommending Gigis to you ages ago, Darren. Goodge St area has some great eateries tucked away - fair prices, few tourist traps. Locals and workers in the area.

That's the way it should be. Other channels 😂never interact seem to be frightened to especially if not sure what the dishes are . If the staff don't show you etc an interest in what they serve etc your not going to be interested. Seems it's manners have gone these days,and always good to say thanks or compliments to the chef etc. Or ask how's business, etc how long you've been here etc. Especially in London you may have ridden past it' or been on the bus etc and never noticed. Great video as always

Good Vid Darren Fish was Meaty , dont matter any if its Small , the Meat Content makes up more than enough for the Size No Breadcake? , Got to have a Chip Butty ,with the Butter Melting , its the Law 😊 You still need Hair Sides Cutting and Shaping 🙄👍

Dazza because I am skint if I ever go for cheap fish n chips scran I always take at least 4 buttered rolls to make chips butties and fish sandwiches and I always bring my own mushy peas from a tin in a plastic pot. I can then get 3 or 4: meals to take back to my Newham bedsit 😂😂😂🎉

I was a student at the LSE in the 1980s and Gig’s was a favourite haunt. I’ve been back since to eat in the restaurant- you really should go back to try the kebabs and the other Cypriot dishes. That’s what we used to have as students - as well as the chips!

HI Darren Good value considering you are in London for a lunch time special that is Ok for a quick lunch for normal customer but I think it may be to expensive for some of the Students at UCL and University of London. I know this is just me but the fish looked to greasy and I am not a lover of mushy pea. Again thank you for sharing

Watcher Darren, you prove that you can find places like this if you want. A very good standard portion of fish'n'chips and at a very fair price. The chips were just begging to be squashed in the ever popular " chip butty " Very naughty but very nice. The restaurant section has a touch of class. May treat the wife ❤Allan&Family
