I wonder if these stupid stories try this stuff just to drag the stories out. In reality Celia would have to be insanely stupid to pull this. There is nothing to be gained for her or the kids in her husband talking with his ex and everything to lose. She already knows he ghosted his ex for this and that he has zero tolerance for cheating. Why would she think he'd tolerate this nonsense? I'd bring the twins over to my wife talking with my ex. "Kids, this is a bad women who mommy is letter destroy our marriage. So, mommy has a choice -- she can choose to keep talking with this woman or she can choose to have a family." By now, I assume OP has figured out a prenup agreement. Having your wife associate with any cheat should be a divorceable offense, let alone your ex who you won't speak to. Sorry, new wife needs to know in uncertain terms what happens to wives who cheat on him and that there's no forgiveness, peace, closure, etc. other than divorce papers and never speaking again.

Celia is portrayed as a very tenderhearted woman who is in no way threatened by the ex, feels like the husband is well adjusted and that the ex is on the verge of falling apart and can be helped by her husband. Whether she is right or not, who could have known at the time. In retrospect, knowing all of the terrible choices she has made since then, a conversation with her ex husband isn’t going to fix her.

First of all, wife #1 was dirty dancing with strangers and that is cheating, I don’t think that this was her first time cheating, I don’t think it would have stopped no matter what the husband did she was going to be a cheater throughout their marriage. The second wife never should have gotten involved, she had no right to decide to invite her to their house or insist on the conversation. I would be surprised if wife #2 is not inclined to also be a cheater and I would DNA test the kids because she is clearly making decisions that could destroy their relationship and just how far has she already gone.

Continue with his plan because she was drinking, not like she was sober, and ask him for that the following day if she did not go with him. If she did not go with him, then continue with his plan. As a result of the actions you took the day before, he is able to convey to her that we will have to delay having a child.

we all know that the usual novel, the usual dialogues, a slightly more tragic ending. starting from the assumption that wives usually don't suddenly give themselves up like this in front of their husband, in itself he should have prevented it by clearly threatening divorce and in any case not let her go. but something better?

I think what inspires these stories is a married man's realization that his wife no longer feels empathy for him. It's been said that familiarity breeds contempt. That's probably why keeping a marriage over a lifetime has to be one of the most difficult things to do. There were a few moments in my life when I felt a woman's desire for me in really inappropriate moments. One was married, another had a rich boyfriend who looked like a Mafia Capo and another was a professional acquaintance I had just met. I resisted the urge to push things forward. One thing I learned, when a woman is turned on, she seems to forget about her man, whether or not he's in the room. That's a lack of empathy for the person who should be the most important person in her life. And if she can be that way to him, she can be that way to you.

The thing i can relate is after decades of separation, that hate can be pushed to the back of your mind, it becomes numbness and indifference. He can face his ex after 7 years of not seeing and act with civility as long as theres no bullshit. It will be always on thin ice, and theres little patience on BS.

A very unsatisfying story. The only possible satisfaction would come from reading the letter to give us some insight on what was going on in her mind, but we don't even get that. This story sucks.

First of all why do a man allowed his wife to dance with a stranger second he said she had a lot of drinks why he did not be straight forward and told her if you carry on with this i am leaving and we are divorcing if she didn’t go with-him than carry on his plan because she was drinking not like she was sober and asked him for that next day he can tell her because of your actions yesterday we have to postpone the having a baby

I wonder why people never think about the aftermath of the stupid things they do. Having sex with another man would have no particular implications, but the moment you have to ask your husband for permission, you know it's wrong and it's not just that, the most wrong thing is to give yourself the affirmative answer. This is very serious because you haven't considered his pain at all. No respect, no love, so suicide is the confirmation of the nothing achieved both in the 15 years and after the divorce.
