Yes they make a lot of money but in my case, my lawyer certainly earned it. I was in a wreck in 2010 with an underaged drunk driver and I hired a personal injury lawyer in Eugene, OR but he wasn't sure he could help me. About a year after he took my case, he called and was elated that he'd found a way out for me. He sued the Homeowners insurance of the family where this kid got drunk, in fact, along with their own son, cleaned out the liquor cabinet. The problem was that once all my bills were paid and my lawyer was paid there was no money for me. So Don instructed his entire staff to start calling everyone that I owed money to trying to get them to either lower the bill or wipe it clean. And in doing so, he was able to write me a check for $125,000. We are friends to this day and I adore him, as a person and a lawyer. When an attorney is on your side and they fight for you, it makes you realize that attorney's are like everyone else. When they are on your side, it's a different story than when they aren't.

Back in the 80’s a colleague friend was invited to my wedding. She and her husband attended and he was delightful, good natured, tall, handsome and very gracious. A year later she had their first child and things went downhill. She would say things like he was “weird” and didn’t behave at home as he did in public. She divorced him and he remarried and had 2 more children with the new wife. Apparently things once again spiraled downward. I got a call one weekend from my friend, she told me he had killed his wife by shooting her in the back of the head with a shotgun in front of the kids in the kitchen. He was sentenced to life without parole. I was stunned, and I just couldn’t believe it. Every time I view the wedding video I see him in the reception line. He had zero empathy for anyone and my friend was lucky she listened to her gut. This guy is guilty as sin. Thief, Liar and Murderer. How you;could kill your spouse and child is beyond comprehension.

Laws and policies need to be thoroughly overhauled. Too many loop holes for the dead beat entitled thieves, I hope this man redirects his career. Begins canvassing how many out here are duped by family, and friends, and they have a way to convince others to follow them like the pied piper. Those that follow and aide them are complicit in the abuse. I so very much hope this kind soul directs his career into working with Attorney General finding ways to combat the abuses in family home care, where one or more abuse and use the good advocacy of another and sit back and conspire ways of manipulating. Wills, into codicil's , during end of life on hospice and more, in dealing with alzheimers, dementia family member, and other with cancer, to stop the emotional abuse, emotional gaslighting, emotional manipulation. To stop the egregious from firing a well renowned, respected attorney who questioned the urgency of will change again with in 3 years and at end of life, during hospice no less. From changing Insurance beneficiaries, within 2 weeks of a hospice home patients attorney, simply because they believe they are in charge of all affairs is neglect, abuse, from threatening to have the sick elders placed in a Nursing home, fearing it wouod happen is abuse and one way of getting their way. To make it easier to have said individual removed from living within the house accessing all control. A mere canvass of neighbors who are very unaware of the true long time dynamics of control, the so called "keeping up appearances and protecting the financial, emotional manipulative abuser. There needs to be stricter contingencies to protect and help the advocates and those they try in vain to manage a quality of life. Thiere must be better training, more ways to report and find dedicated case workers and social workers on hospital levels to follow through at home. Perhaps medicare, aarp can find ways to stop the abuse. Innocent people are being trampled on, sick and elderly taken advantage by one or more family members because they have control. It is a dynsmic that has been a long time in the making and they strike at the lowest most unexpected times . When a family member can wipe out family business, personal accounts move funds, control the financial advisor staking their own interest, manipulating that financial advisor to make changes to Insurance investments, beneficiary, changes and wills turned into codicils at end if life is depraved acts. It happens more often than people recognize, they shutter at depositions, at discoveries and pray any who contest run out of Funds before proving the abuse. But it is all their, time dates, timeliness, and more. They move on thinking they won, they not only got over on their victim, victims, they got over on the county, state federal government because the way it is presently structured, in the end you see the irony, they place all in a family trust, assuring no one can do to them what they have done to others . The irony

@@elfenmaus1440 that's how it goes, the reach of betrayal will astound you, shutter the ground beneath your feet, feeling the cold, distance, and siding some you thought knew and understood your betrayal, their was surely much tolerance, and very much an understanding about individuals like this, no one no one you ever thought would throw you under the bus, leave you alone and shattered in your own family dynamic with your child/children, and spouse. Truly one of the most complex and utterly life changing events, as Shakespeare would ascribe, Tragedies, as we hear in the most beautiful heart felt voices in Opera, the story has it's deep dark theme, as in Don Qiuota Man of LA Mancha, as a most humbling book East of Eden, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, our Bible is revealing of much of the same. Grief stricken and emotionally sparred, you gain only enough breath to stand and during that time the necessity of your truth the truth, cannot be pushed to the side, your grief takes a back seat to what you must put all your energy in, your immediate loved ones, children, adult children, and spouse, and God be with you if your spousal relations have been smoldering under the surface for a long time, you them realize much more getting through the worst of this shared betrayal will not even fix that. The layers of human suffering, shouldering the depraved emotional and financial abuse you would never imagine knowing as off the rail your family member was, or friend you and your's were better than that. You and yous together found the bond, strength to tolerate, look past that individual and even what piggy backed that their family. Realizing you were all in for the right reasons, the right stuff made life, hard work, hardships and sweet engagements all the sweeter. I feel his brokenness, a betrayal like no other left to sort out the steps taken revisiting those memories is no effort, you awake refreshed or groggy, by the time your feet are planted on the floor pieces of memories rush in, your mind heart and soul feel like I don't need more of this, but it is real unexplainable, how out of nowhere days weeks years past these nocturnal, and dayturnal memories mash up and it is giving you the string to the spiders web you have been in with individuals, you realize my God what a salesmen this has been, selling you all the Kool-aid, that piece of tent in the burning dessert as some have flocked to and succumbed to heat and dehydration. That is the reality you never thought of all they ever did, the rumors heard of oh no really they did, said that to so and so, they had the nerve, you shake your head inspire of it all you carry on, with 2nd hand embarrassment and feeling wow wow, I can't believe and you move on shaking it off. Until the final straw and you realize that you too were never valued, never, you and your decency, integrity to do right and hold your head high no matter what you knew was borderline off in word or deed this so called friend or family member did, you gave your all on behalf of their sick parent(s) or other sad life event they shouldered look back you see now they never really were invested in life as you they showed up played a part, the chameleon with an agenda that was in the works behind everyone whose trust they gained. This guy had everything. A family, wealth, power and an incredible circle of friends who were clearly devastated and heartbroken that someone they cared so much about, had just found his wife and youngest son brutally murdered. Two people that they all loved as well. You can see the pain in their eyes when talking about someone they thought they knew. Someone they dropped everything for, to go be with him and offer their love and support on the worst day of his life. Someone they trusted explicitly. The betrayal and shock they must feel has to be so painful. Most of us would be incredibly lucky to have even one friend like Chris Wilson. Alex Murdaugh had many and he took advantage of and deceived every single one of them. A betrayal of this magnitude leaves you in shock and disbelief. You question if this person ever cared about you at all. It's literally like someone has died. His actions have caused so much pain for so many people. This is literally a fall from grace in every sense of the words. I hope all of these people can pick up the pieces of their broken hearts and find peace one day. The Murdaugh name is forever tarnished and it's all their own doing. Their greed and thirst for power was ultimately their downfall. You don't get to go your whole life treating people this badly and expect to not be held accountable by someone. In this life or the next, Alex Murdaugh will have to answer to someone for the way he treated people throughout his life. It's just way it is. I wouldn’t be surprised if Alex’s legal partners don’t sue Chris for his attempts to cover for Alex until he could get his life straight causing them some sort of “financial damages”. There’s a reason lawyers have a bad reputation in this country. There are plenty of good ones as well, and I tend to cut prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys, especially ones who are public defenders and actually put their full effort into their cases, a little more slack. However in the personal injury world there are more ambulance chasers out there than lawyers who take cases that are based on merit and a moral sense of right and wrong instead of clogging up the legal system for petty things because they know the potential plaintiff is LOADED.

This was not Chris problem but he was duped into helping Alec.. This is where con men can talk sensible people into doing things against their better judgement. He trusted Alec. It undermines all of our trust.

The boy scout motto is 'Be Prepared'. I believe down in our heart and our gut we know by our own character and our being how we would respond. Martin Luther said in the hymn he wrote, 'Here I Stand'. We should be taught at an early age where we should and want to stand and what the consequences will be. That deters a lot of problems later on. I pity the man for his coldness and lack of sorrow and grief over what he has done. He was probably just remorseful that he got caught. I hope he hasn't involved his son Buster in any of this.

This is just more evidence as to a motive as to why Alec murdered his wife and son. I was really having a hard time believing that Alec committed this crime. Especially with everyone testifying what a wonderful father and husband he was. And from all accounts, he was. However, after the smoking gun, him being placed on video and by witnesses identifying his voice on calls and video, at the kennel before the murders, I am 100% on board with the prosecution. How, a father and husband could do that, I will never understand. Alec can just keep on his fake nodding and crying dry tears. If he was a real man, he’d admit it and beg forgiveness. Either way, whether he’s found guilty of this, I know he will spend the rest of his sorry life in prison for the 100+ other counts he’s charged with.

I'm sure she felt somewhat responsible for not having controls in place to catch this sort of thing, but that's not unusual in these closely-held businesses. Is it really betraying someone if you know them better than almost anyone else on earth and yet even being biased to trust them you have come to believe they embezzled tons of money and then murdered their family? Chris was risking disbarment and prison time himself if he didn’t turn over the records and the whole story. Before authorities started looking into the money Alex took Chris didn’t say a word…it’s not like he went and reported him for fraud, etc as soon as he found out. He waited until he had no other reasonable choice.

I’ve been avoiding it , but I’ve started watching a few clips like this one. I hate Dick Harpootlian and , as I keep saying, I will lose my mind if Alex gets away with this. If I’m having such a difficult time with this , simply as a viewer from Charleston, I can’t fathom what these family friends must be feeling. It seems like once your a friend of the Murdaugh’s your as good as family , in for the long haul. That’s a special gift more people wish they had. Alex crapped all over these people and committed the ultimate betrayal.

Why didn't this lawyer tell Alex to have his law firm add the $192K to their books just like Alex said they were going to do? There was no reason for him to go $192K in the hole when this "annuity" was approved by a partner (Alex) of the law firm. This lawyer knew what Alex did was doing something illegal. The ONLY reason this lawyer put that $192K of his money back into that account is because he knew *he* was now caught up in misappropriating funds with Alex, and he was protecting himself and his firm. No lawyer gives someone $192K of his own money unless he realizes he is in some serious trouble that would affect his freedom and law practice.
