@@zx208 Hahaha!! No. But he was being robbed of plants he had growing. He lived in a very small town that hadn't had a murder in 50 years. The way he had been killed had looked like an ambush and well planned out. It had unfortunately rained the morning he had been killed and it washed away the scent of whoever had done it. Later, the years to be exact we found out it wouldn't have mattered anyway because the killer had gone to great lengths to mask his scent. He walked for 2 miles through a creek and then another 2 through the woods. Anyway, between the police and my uncles during the funeral and the weeks after..... there was always some armed around us. My point in telling the story... or some of it.... was that when someone is murdered the fear is so thick that you welcome the added security. And him not wanting to make sure his other son and really himself were safe is very suspicious.

He wanted to deny Paul was the driver of their boat, which everyone knew he was, so that the lawsuit would go away. Zero sense of responsibility in this family. I can't believe they're trying to pin Mallory's death on one of the other kids. Despicable. Sounds like Maggie was right along with Alex denying that their precious son could ever have been responsible for the accident.

He wanted to clear Paul's name, so the blame and lawsuits would shift to someone else. Then, he could have whatever property, inheritance, and stashed money for himself. I feel for Maggie's sister, because it's clear that she partially blames herself for encouraging Maggie to go to Moselle. And it's obvious that she didn't know that Alex's dad was in the hospital, otherwise Maggie would've stayed in Edisto. Alex waited until she arrived to tell her, and I think she just made the best of it... not knowing what he really had planned.

Pretty pitiful if I ask me that most all of Paul’s GF and close friends lived off the fat of good times and the Murdaugh inner circles. AS IF that’a a good enough reason. The only thing I wonder is what did Maggie think/do when she realized Alex was going to his parents’ house without her. Didn’t she hv an objection, if that’s theE reason she went to Moselle. I’d think so.

I felt bad for the caretaker too.

If you choose to drink and drive (boat or car), it's not an accident at all.

But, Maggie and Paul would still be dead due to theft of funds from multiple people.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) says the same thing. They are "crashes", not accidents. The police refer to them in the same way, as the crashes they are.

Alec left Moselle that night after Buster and his friends packed up his things. I think Alec did it. Or hired someone to do it more likely to me. But just for keeping facts straight, Alec did go and stay in different places after the murders.

Devils advocate: He had lost everything at that point including his will to live. He didn't care about his life at that point. He felt he was honoring his son, in memorial by clearing his name. I can see that.....

Thought it was quick too but as jurors spoke out it seemed they agreed on 80% . So really only needed short time to deliberate 2or 3 issues. That’s how I understood what jurors said.

Because his guilt is so obvious and evidence overwhelming. One jury came back in ten minutes in a murder trial I watched.

So glad Alex wasn't able to bs the jury. Justice has been served.

People are actually deranged and love their pets way more than they should, in a way that is just desperate and unsettling...example: some people calling themselves "dog mom's" as if their dogs are on the same level as their own human children that they gave birth to! It is absolutely sick, demented, and very psychologically destructive to a child to have their parent drag them down and put them on the same level as a dog... it is really sick. People are obviously not going to mention the pets in a lot of these cases because I think it goes without saying that having a person pass away far supersedes the importance of a pet passing away. You can get another cat/dog or whatever and probably love them exactly the same as you loved the other one that you had, they can be replaced. But when its a human being that you love, it is far more heartbreaking because people are absolutely and totally Irreplaceable. He had _bought a boat with a loan._ Interestingly _some of the stolen money_ that je he redirected to a bank account in the small bank was also _used to pay down that boat loan._ Might have been the boat that Paul steered while drunk and then he killed the girl in 2018. Apart from the drug habit that was the most financially devastating thing for AM. And devastating for the family because of the events it helped to trigger. When her parents hired a lawyer for a civil lawsuit he then tried to write over property to his wife so the parents of the girl could only sue him for less - and Maggie in May or June 2021 refused to hand over the property that legally belonged only to her - he could not use those assets (that he had tried to move out of reach for liability charges) to quickly come up with millions. In May he knew it was only a matter of time before he would be busted, but if he could have come up with several millions he could have repaid the money, fulfilled all obligations toward clients and the lawfirm (he also withheld revenue from them) and maybe the lawfirm would have let him leave quiety w/o exposing him. No scandal, he would have to step down of course - and the clients would have gotten a surprise payment, but I am sure he could have sold them the lucky turn of events. He chose the clients he stole from well, no one had protested that they did not get enough or the believed the story that the lawsuit was not successful. So there was a chance no one would question or protest or suspect foul play when they unexpectedly would get 70k or 200k. Stolen money paid for the boat that cost his family (and the girl) so dearly. On June 7th he murdered wife and son. He (as the owner of the boat, and it either had no insurance or the insurance would not pay because their son was drunk) had a court date for June 10th, on which the judge would rule whether he had to disclose all his assets. This had to do with the private lawsuit of the parents of the dead girl, and I think they sued for 30 million USD. I think they really thought he was filthy rich. Alex had been busy since 2018 or 2019 to try and get as much as possible in Maggies name / written over to her - but that likely motivated him to kill her when the walls closed in on him in the lawfirm (January - May 2021). Shortly before the murder his wife had refused to allow him to sell property - that sale would have provide a few millions real quick. I think he realized that he could not continue to steal from the company, and that the crimes he had comitted so far would be detected soon. The spouses had a discussion / fight not long before the murder over the beachfront property (4 million USD), I very much doubt he had told her WHY he so desperately needed money. But she refused to sell it. She must of course have known about his drug use (for 20 years) - one more reason not to let him have more money - and she likely could not fathom how much he stole. Only a few days before her death she had confronted him because a charity cheque that she had written had bounced. In August 2021 (so 3 months after the murders) he had 4 million debt with the small bank and his chequing account was overdrawn with almost 400,000 USD. Maybe she should have gotten involved in the family's finances or should have added up ALL their spending and compared it to what came in (the legal money - she had no way of knowing that he stole and how much). Only - if she had bothered then she would have been surprised where the money for the boat or other loans of Alex came from (from the account that he had opened for stolen money). AM had opened a private account the "fake Forge account" (that mimicked the account of a legit company & business partner of the lawfirm = Forge Consulting). AM would wait until the paralegal that normally handled the larger settlement cases and the "billing" was not in the house and then order her collegue to finalize the cases and to split the money that had come in. What the client would get, the fee for the lawfirm, all the costs they had paid in advance, and often liens had to be considered (hospital bills, Medicare that had to be reimbursed if a client got a settlement). It was necessary to know such files well to not overlook anything, the ladies were protective of "their" cases - and from time to time a confused collegue would call her when she was not in the company, because she had been orderd by Alex to finish a file in a hurry, and she found the instructions of Alex unusual, could not understand some of the position (no wonder it was fraudulent) - Alex often ordered that shortly before 5 pm and preferably on a Friday when all the other staff and the other partners and financial department had left the company. AM also instruced his staff to write the cheques not to Forge Consulting (a legit company that they used from time to time when they set up trust funds for settlements in form of recurring payments instead of one lump sum) but to "Forge" (in the lawfirm they called that "fake Forge" during their audit because it really was a private account that AM controlled. The name was chosen to dupe accounting deparment when they wrote the cheques. And those cheques issued to fake "Forge" were not sent by mail (to the legit company), he always said he would meet their contact at that company for golf or lunch and would hand it over in person. Drove his staff crazy, AM had a reputation of being sloppy and disorganized, they feared he would lose the cheques. Larger amounts often more than 100,000 USD. Replacing such cheques is possible but it is a hassle.

She was shopping for a new house after her son was drunk and killed a 19 year old girl. How could she do that. I think this whole family are awful people. Hunting and killing animals and selfish self centered. She told her housekeeper that she had to leave her doors open for the Mexicans. I am not impressed by any of them.

Marian and her husband are obviously wealthy. They built a beautiful house and guest house on 27+ acres in 2019. Sold it in Oct 2021 for almost $6million. She's either a very gifted interior decorator or she hired one. You could tell it was a home that welcomed large gatherings of family friends.
