As most of my audience knows, I am a massive G-shock fan. For me, it has always served as the ultimate rugged affordable tool watch, and it’s one I use everyday during my workouts.
Last year, as part of the ongoing 35th year anniversary of the iconic world-changing digital watch, Casio released a line of metal versions based on the 1983 original. Being late to the party (due mostly to being very content with my $40 DW5600E,) I was slow to check it out, but I finally got one in to review, and I’ve spent a few weeks getting to know the GMWB5000-1.
After a day of filming in Brooklyn, I share my thoughts to see if the watch is worth all the hype and if it is worth the dramatically higher $400 asking price. Join me as I discuss the features of the watch, things I loved about it, things I didn't, my predictions, and thoughts on where G-shock is going wrong.
