I have worn this technically every single day since i bought it last October 2019 & have completely forgotten my other swiss watches. Yes, its this good!
Nice video of a great watch. One thing though, more wheels the truck has means less weight per wheel so it’s a potentially a lesser feat compared to the original.
Well the G Shock that I have works perfectly even after being dropped from a height of 70 metres. It's the GW 9400 Rangeman and it's an absolute beast. It hurts your ego to wear something that is much tougher than you.
I was going to say the same thing! They are fully aware this video is most likely only going to be seen by G-Shock enthusiasts and we can tell the difference a mile away!
Brilliant watch, I received mine last week and am totally impressed. This thing looks the business, period. I was a kid in the eighties so the metal square is a piece of nostalgia in a cool metal jacket to me.
Nice video, including the legendary hockey puck video that caught so many people's imagination. I have a number of videos on of my GMW-B5000 on my channel, I truly love it. One of the elements not mentioned here is the fact its also a great watch to wear with a suit. Not all G-Shocks look good with formal wear but the GMW-B5000 looks superb. Keep up the great videos! Cheers
The best value ever. These are truly 🙌 amazing and smart, as in the smartest decision you've ever made by buying one. Have one from 10 years ago and 24 more. My favourite? The "full metal square gold"... amazing, iconic, elegant and... more accurate than my Tag or my Tissot. Love them 💕
34 tonnes - ok. But how much per wheel? 10 wheels out of 12 on the ground which give average 3.4 tonne/wheel. Still good. I have three full metal G's. Love them.
It dont matter if it is 34 tonnes or 3.4 tonnes, if your wrist was wearing that watch while the truck passed over it. I can bet everything i own that the watch would survive and your wrist wouldnt.
I also wondered about the rubber tire which would to some degree disperse the weight in a different fashion than say for discussion, the steel tracks of a bulldozer of the same weight.
Good video. I just ordered this watch. But I think many luxuary watches should pass this test as well. A fully metal house is very tough against pressure. The true strength of G-shock is the ability to withstand shocks without damaging the internal parts, and the function of the watch. To survive dropping the watch from several meters on hard surface is where G-shock supremes.
Great watch and video. It's so comforting to know that if I'm ever run over by a 34 ton truck, my g-shock will still be working! ;) I'm not a scientist, but I think these "run over" tests are somewhat of a gimmick. After all, the rubber tires do have some "give" to them, not to mention that the 34 ton weight is not concentrated on that watch, but distributed among all the tires of the vehicle. Well in any case, it's still an impressive feat.
Impressive. Shame they did not measure the actual pressure on the watch. The truck’s 34 tons were spread on 6 tires, themselves spread wide on the ground, so the watch “only” received a fraction of the 34 tons. Still more than my body could cope with though.
The GMW-B5000 is this best $400 you will ever spend on a watch. 4 years and still going strong! My only complaint is the metal bracelet has accrued much wear and tear from 4 years of daily wear but I will never get rid of it!
@ukcasio my Casio didn’t survive being ran over a 20 ton fire truck 😢 although it was the b5600BC. It broke apart the bracelet and put a good dent in the back plate. Bluetooth works…. But the lcd screen and pizer alarm no longer work. I still love and trust my G-Shocks!!!
It is a really good watch! Unfortunately it works on a battery charged by light ,so it has electrical components, because if it was mechanical or automatic, you could really say it is atomic bomb proof :))))
Even a normal watch could withstand that test cos of the soft rubber tires. You should put a normal watch to the test as well. The reason that even a normal watch could pass the test is simple. There is not a 34ton force to each wheel of the lorry. If that was true the lorry wouldn't stay on the road and lorry drivers wouldn't have to load their cargo considering weight distribution. I'm not saying is not much of a force there but not 34 tons that you advertise it.
The watch is good, but its look I don,t like. At least, company must make a such an excellent look that after looking at it, one has the idea that watch is really expensive.
does casio g-shock gmw -b5000 d1r have a mineral glass as robust as a sapphire glass because it didn't break under the wheel or is this glass mixed from sapphire glass and miner glass, in which case sapphire glass is not needed for this watch
The mineral glass used in gshocks is more shatter resistant and less scratch resistant than sapphire. So it will scratch easier than sapphire but should resist a shatter more
HEY BRIT: YOU KEEP REFERRING TO THE DW-5600C AS THE ORIGINAL G-SHOCK, BUT IT IS THE 1983 DW-5000-1A MODULE (240) THAT STARTED THE G-SHOCK LINE THAT WAS NEARLY DISCONTINUED DO TO SLOW SALES. THE 1984 SLAP SHOT HOCKEY COMMERCIAL WAS THE G-SHOCK THAT SAVED THE G-SHOCK WATCH LINE FROM HAVING CASIO DROP THE ENTIRE PROJECT WHICH IS THE DW-5200C-9 (240) BEST KNOWN AS "THE HERO" AND RIGHTLY SO. AS OUR OTHER BROTHERS & SISTERS HAVE MADE EXCLAMATIONS OF THE RAW POWER AND ENDURANCE OF BY LIGHT YEARS THE VERY BEST WATCH EVER PRODUCE THE "G-SHOCK", SO G-SHOCK LOVERS, LONG LIVE CASIO BUT MOST OF ALL LONG LIVE OUR G-SHOCK!!!
