So, some people think camera corporations are infallible, know what's best for us, and should never be questioned.
Then there's people like me who look at what they offer and think "You gotta be kidding me!"
So, as well as revealing just what Panasonic are doing with the S9 (it's not about the camera, there's something far more important going on), I look at a list of camera fails from big name corporations, just to show you they can be as clueless as RU-vid camera reviewers :)

When Panasonic replaced my G9 twice under warranty. Fixed the second one under warranty they replaced. And then a month after the two year warranty expired the front dial wheel went bad they wanted $550.00 dollars to replace I was done with that manufacturer forever. So I’m happy to say that S9 is a horror show for photographers and doesn’t tempt me.

A great deal of good information research Greg. After a great bit of researching of the G9. I purchased it 2 years ago , as a companion to my Canon D200. It has been a great Panasonic purchase. Panasonic has been our go to brand for the last 50 years. And always preformed to expectations for the price range. That’s TV’s and VHS players and cameras. There is a fault in the corporation model… it’s called “Corporate Amnesia “ ! The corporations forget when they do things right/good… !! I believe it is has a lot to do with management changes. Beware the “Corporations”😳👍🏼🍷. Love your work son ❤

Love the content. I found one of those disc cameras at a thrift shop but didn't buy it. Maybe I should have... it was a novelty anyway. too bad APS film is gone. all those crazy small point and shoots are useless now.

Unfortunately no one wants to find out they made a huge mistake after they bought something and the S9 with its shortcomings can really disappoint a new owner. I would rather take a listen to what you are telling me about a particular camera before I decide, rather than follow an influence person that has no real idea how to practice the "craft" of photography or know what's really good or bad about a camera no matter who made it. Case in point, I was gifted an Olympus Stylus 790SW, tough camera yes, horrible performer too, my 770 blows it away, but I did research before I got that one. Spot on Greg as usual and many thanks for being real about all your content, very refreshing indeed !!

All I'd want extra would be a proper pancake lens like the Nikon or Canon 28f2.8. Outside of that, I don't care about mechanical shutters, because every Fujifilm camera I've owned has malfunctioned and left me with electronic shutter for years. I don't use a EVF because I am a Ricoh GR III shooter, I got used to LCD - even in sunny Mexico where I live. I also don't use flash so the hot shoe is irrelevant. With the S9 I get better AF than my Fujifilm cameras, better IBIS than my Fujifilm cameras, and interesting new way to create and share colour profiles for use in camera, and it's full frame while being cheaper and smaller than most of Fujifilm's line up currently. As a user looking to leave Fujifilm but not wanting to commit to a massive camera like the S5II, Z8, R5, or A7RV, the S9 is great. Unlike most critics of the S9: It's a tool for a purpose.

I just watched a video by a bloke who had an S9 for review. He liked the LUTS things, but ended up preferring his 2019 MFT GX85, with ergonomics a particular point of differentiation.

I bought a Panasonic camera, way back. The thing was very noisy. I will never buy another of their cameras. They had their chance to impress me and they blew it.

The Disc camera must be the biggest mistake by any company in the camera business. It was my first camera that I owned, still have it on a shelf above my computer and still love that little abomination of a camera A lot 🤣 Didn't know Hasselblad and Sony had a thing with the RX100, good camera but not as good as a Hasselblad prizetag would suggest.

Hasselblad did a similar rebranding of the Sony NEX-7 many years ago - I remember it getting ridiculed on Sony Forums at the time.

Nikon 1 There might be a case for the S9 as a compact camera. Needs a hot shoe though. Maybe couple of versions with different prime lenses. A bit like the Sigma Quattro DP? cameras. I can deal with quirky, if it does a job. I don't see how the S9 as it is is useful for anyone. I saw a video about the oh so new Nikong Z6 III. I commented that its specs are generally exceeded by a Lumix G9 Mark II. Nobody laughed at me. The Lytro is a bit like the SKA.

Arri on GH7 is an exception, cause all of the money will probably go directly to Arri lol 11:59 Panasonic is introducing another competitor to Leica travel cameras, but with one of the best sensors of it's price and a lot of Panasonic features, that even Sony cine-line don't have. 12:25 Camera, on it's own, is godlike. It has amazing sensor, best in class gimbal, awesome AF, low noise, wonderful V-Log, and a video capabilities like open-gate 6K. And! No useless crap that modern filmmakers are not using, because why would they. It has a lot of shortcominds, 99% of which You can overcome. I've clicked on video, thinking that Panasonic tried to silence Your opinion. I was disappointed. Also - the commentor is somewhat right. Of course, You're right - the companies CAN fail, CAN miscalculate and CAN do wrong. BUT in this case - You're just a wrong audience for this camera. And I see no reason for You to get mad at it. Except clickbate OFC.

I could not agree more with your `rant´. A surprisingly big number of youtubers and camfluencers went on a sushi spree courtesy of Panasonic only to find out that the S9 takes pictures. Some of these people are real photographers and yet they were full of praise for a $ 1.500 gimmick which could be replaced by a 13.99 app on your phone. OK, make this 19.99. For just $ 1.000 more you could buy yourself 2nd hand into a system which consists of a camera with shutter speeds and ISO to be set plus one of the best lenses in the market, where you set f-.stops and distance. But then you might have to learn something before teaching the world about your next greatest gadget.

It's all got a bit ridiculous. I suppose there are people who will pay that sort of money for a camera. But for the majority of people fancy, all singing and dancing cameras are a waste of time, and filled with features you will likely never use. How many potential customers do you hear complaining about the bewildering array of features on camera? But sadly that's the choice now. Priced out of the market by pointless features and bad business decisions.

Well, the numbers was just released today and lo and behold, it's selling like hotcakes. Apparently it's a giant hit and it's backordered almost everywhere. Almost like a multi billion dollar company did the market research and found that a camera like the S9 would sell really well.

Kodak did have the "Kodak Professional DCS Pro 14nx with 13.89 megapixil 24x36 mm CMOS sensor which was compatable with Nikon F lenses and produces a reasonable quality image for around 1800 US dollars, but sadly it disappeared. I enjoyed using it at the time though it was some wht limited with ISO of 80-400. why oh why did they drop this ball!!??

Clickbait video comparing apples to oranges , Fuji does not make FF cameras and their APS models have poor IBIS poorer video than Panasonic models etc. The S9 hold no appeal for me , but when you see the whining about it online it is almost always the old codger brigade { a brigade I am about to join } this is not aimed at that group. The quoted price $1500 is US dollars and $2500 Australian is roughly $1620 US so not a lot in it. The 26mm F/8 makes absolutely zero sense to me Nikon has a 26mm F/2.8 that is a fully functioning lens a full 3 stops faster and only 6mm taller than the Panasonic. Every company has made cock ups over the years,
