Love my ttartisan lenses. The 25mm f2 was my first. I also own the 35mm f1.4 and 50mm 1.2. Have my eye on the 17mm f1.4. I know not everyone is into manual focus but I’m having a great time. Having a Fujifilm with exposure triangle and other features at my fingertips (X-T1 & X-T2) with manual lenses is like driving a sports car instead of a luxury car. Not for everyone I’m sure but great experience.

I have to admit, it's great watching the videos again and you get more from the images that you may have missed on the first go. This time I figured out what to say. These particular images seem like they are alive if that makes any sense, and it makes you want to just jump in and swim. I have only one such image in my files and it was from my Olympus E500 down at the Hook beachfront. I was gunning to make a Kodachrome shot which I love and when I looked at it I said .. yup .. Kodak CCD Oh Yeah. Not quite as good as Greg's but in all honesty this one could hold the tail wind.

Super nice Greg, saw them on my tablet, even more stunning on my big screen TV. I can't wait to do some more long exposure shots. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you could hand Greg a pink kiddie camera off Amazon and he can take it and make it sing. Thanks again for sharing, The shots with the stars really have a magical quality to them, spot on getting the moon in the one frame.

@oneeyedphotographer
@oneeyedphotographer 17 дней назад
Remember, four minutes to eight is one stop. Failing all else, guess. Then adjust as seems best. Next time, your initial guess is informed by experience. You could possibly get a reading by pushing ISO beyond reason. However, some of my cameras measure exposure over the exposure duration. Gets progressively annoying as you go further and further beyond 1s. With Olympus and I think recent Lumix cameras, you have live composite or something - you see the image as it develops on the back of the camera.

Looks like a good deal if you shot square format. Issues get cropped out, but you still get to have bokeh with it wide open. I'd add an extension tube for closeup on top of square format. I don't see you looking for bokeh balls though.

Agreed they're overhyped by the online influencers who have gravitated them to cult status. You now have to pay several times their original value to buy one. I remember when digital first cane out and everyone was selling their film gear, I picked up several on ebay for £10 or less. Thankfully I kept them and sold quite a few, the mju zoom 170 I paid £10 for it and sold it for £180.😊 There are still bargains around, I recently bought a mju zoom 80 for £15. To be honest, they're quite a solid camera, I've not had any issues with mine but like any electronics they will not last forever.

The S9 was never advertised as a Photographer Camera 😂 never pick a Camera on feelings. You said “you were upset” & “and the S9 didn’t answer anyone’s needs”😅. I could use the S9 in several ways to encourage Clients to agree to upsell items via Social Media. The S9 is great at many things but if it’s not for you move on. It was and still is advertised for Fun Pictures (not Pro Pictures), short video clips & Social Media Sharing nothing more nothing less. Canon and Sony gave us $2500 USD overheating Cameras and the community found a way to defend it. We get so invested in things we do like or would not personally buy to justify what we do have, We Camera Snubs are the absolute worst. 😂 Where LUMIX went wrong was they should have not invited ANYONE and let the market customers found out their personal need for it. I shoot 4 brands and what I’ve learned from the LUMIX experiment is people are hobbyist not daily shooters because if they were their would clearly not read specs only and make final judgements from there. The S9 has a User Case (I agree not at $1499 maybe $1199) but there is a void it fixes for Social Media Content Creators. LUMIX misread the room, oh invite these people who a filmmakers & RU-vidrs because they are in essence Content Creators they take family and friends photos for quick upload, they post to instagram and TikTok to promote themselves with short form, they would like an easy to use app to style and transfer pics and quick videos… but “nah” the Internet is the loose canon of unnecessary judgement 😂.

@janedagger 25 дней назад
Hi Mr Carrick !!! I'm an ole punk rocker and newbie photographer.... shoulda put that in quotes I think. Anyway, there's two things I love; people who question and people who prove it. And you sir, did both. I've never trusted a corporation and never will. I research to my ability on a product and then ponder, a moment and either walk on by or hit the buy button. But, marketing is just a method to gain familiarity, also called brand recognition. Familiarity causes trust in some; it's basically imitating the relations with family and dear friends, but they're NOT your family. They're NOT your friends. They want your money. And money is a representation of time you've spent renting yourself out to some sort of business to assist that business to ... make money. IE: you're basically selling a portion of your time on this planet while still alive, to procure tokens that you can exchange for objects you desire, things you need to survive, and an object that provides safety, comfort, and protection from the elements. These are tokens you can only get by selling part of your time on this planet so other people can get more tokens than you'll ever see. People in corporations want to have LOTS of tokens so they get the feeling that they've sold their hours for more tokens than others; it makes them feel strong, and special. And they'll do anything; lie, cheat, buy politicians, and even murder their parents to get that standing. And that goes to marketing too. People in marketing think we're a bunch of rubes. And those at the top of corporations don't even give us that courtesy. Nope, we're rats in a box who are unable to lift themselves up by their bootstraps and become owners of billions of tokens, like they are. Marketing is lying, cheating, manipulation and lawyers. Sometimes the product is good and sometimes they rush it out fast cos they don't want to invest money... never, ever... trust a corporation. On the other hand.... YOu sir, are awesome :) All my love and pls be safe.

Clickbait video comparing apples to oranges , Fuji does not make FF cameras and their APS models have poor IBIS poorer video than Panasonic models etc. The S9 hold no appeal for me , but when you see the whining about it online it is almost always the old codger brigade { a brigade I am about to join } this is not aimed at that group. The quoted price $1500 is US dollars and $2500 Australian is roughly $1620 US so not a lot in it. The 26mm F/8 makes absolutely zero sense to me Nikon has a 26mm F/2.8 that is a fully functioning lens a full 3 stops faster and only 6mm taller than the Panasonic. Every company has made cock ups over the years,

All I'd want extra would be a proper pancake lens like the Nikon or Canon 28f2.8. Outside of that, I don't care about mechanical shutters, because every Fujifilm camera I've owned has malfunctioned and left me with electronic shutter for years. I don't use a EVF because I am a Ricoh GR III shooter, I got used to LCD - even in sunny Mexico where I live. I also don't use flash so the hot shoe is irrelevant. With the S9 I get better AF than my Fujifilm cameras, better IBIS than my Fujifilm cameras, and interesting new way to create and share colour profiles for use in camera, and it's full frame while being cheaper and smaller than most of Fujifilm's line up currently. As a user looking to leave Fujifilm but not wanting to commit to a massive camera like the S5II, Z8, R5, or A7RV, the S9 is great. Unlike most critics of the S9: It's a tool for a purpose.

11:54 Panasonic doesn't sell LUTs, how are they the product? Arri on GH7 is an exception, cause all of the money will probably go directly to Arri lol 11:59 Panasonic is introducing another competitor to Leica travel cameras, but with one of the best sensors of it's price and a lot of Panasonic features, that even Sony cine-line don't have. 12:25 Camera, on it's own, is godlike. It has amazing sensor, best in class gimbal, awesome AF, low noise, wonderful V-Log, and a video capabilities like open-gate 6K. And! No useless crap that modern filmmakers are not using, because why would they. It has a lot of shortcominds, 99% of which You can overcome. I've clicked on video, thinking that Panasonic tried to silence Your opinion. I was disappointed. Also - the commentor is somewhat right. Of course, You're right - the companies CAN fail, CAN miscalculate and CAN do wrong. BUT in this case - You're just a wrong audience for this camera. And I see no reason for You to get mad at it. 3:17 Because, if You make shorts, You need vertical space, not horizontal one. Full Frame + Open Gate not only allows You to make a full-size content, but actually cut it without a quality loss, even on a kit lens. It saves time, and You don't need to hold Your camera gangsta-style, You just shoot it normally, and then cut it middle. Also, less noise - more glossy look. And Full Frame sensors are better with noise. 4:05 I love that You so avidly hate S9, but then admit - cameras You don't like can be popular. "For some strange reason..." 4:36 So what? It is forbidden by law to make photos with electronical shutter? 4:45 So what? Is it forbidden by law to make photos only via EVF? The EVF was popular due to on-camera monitors being a piece of garbage. Nowadays EVFs are as useful, as a PS/2 connector on motherboard. To fancy old guys. 5:00 While flash can be useful - not everyone uses flash. Not everyone needs flash. 5:10 Well, great. Not everyone needs it. Less waste - less price 6:34 Yes, because trees, leaves, buildings, sky and people standing still are notoriously fast moving targets. Also S9 has the same sensor as the S5 II/IIX, which is pretty fast by itself 7:39 In the industry we have something called "cuts". If You make RU-vid videos, You can use a teleprompter, cut Your text in pieces and film them in pieces. I'm doing RU-vid for about 5 years, and in that time, when I'm using telemprompter, I'm yet to achieve even 3 minutes length for a single cut. You probably won't achieve it either, since You have as much cuts as I have. Yea - You can't film interviews or stream. THAT'S what You should say, not the "6 minutes = bad camera". 7:48 Yes, because the quality of a phone footage, captured ON A SHITTY FIXED FOCUS NON-STABILIZED SELFIE CAMERA, are in any way shape or form, comparable to matrix-stabilized, autofocus-driven, full-frame sensor with professional lens and professional LUT. THAT'S HOW YOU GET SUBSCRIBERS! You really despise modern video creators, don't You? 7:57 This camera can be anything You want it to be. It would be as effective or even better at video capture, then R6 Mark 1, for example. While being much cheaper. And yes, people still buy R6M1 for videos. Cause they still believe that Canon is the best. 9:29 In Ukraine S9 is sold with standard 20-60 lens, and last time I've checked - You can't even buy the body cap one in a kit. Also - body cap has it's shortcomings, but not in focus distance or fixed aperture. Or even in price - I trust Panasonic glass much more than I trust 7artisans or some shitty $20 plastic lens from AliExpress. 9:37 They actually did. And they've presented evidence and explanations. Overall - as someone, who CAN actually use S9 for everyday studio work to make a living, I consider Your take - misleading at best, and dishonest + unprofessional at worst. Still better than "GH7 is garbage cause MFT dead" tho

I could not agree more with your `rant´. A surprisingly big number of youtubers and camfluencers went on a sushi spree courtesy of Panasonic only to find out that the S9 takes pictures. Some of these people are real photographers and yet they were full of praise for a $ 1.500 gimmick which could be replaced by a 13.99 app on your phone. OK, make this 19.99. For just $ 1.000 more you could buy yourself 2nd hand into a system which consists of a camera with shutter speeds and ISO to be set plus one of the best lenses in the market, where you set f-.stops and distance. But then you might have to learn something before teaching the world about your next greatest gadget.

When Panasonic replaced my G9 twice under warranty. Fixed the second one under warranty they replaced. And then a month after the two year warranty expired the front dial wheel went bad they wanted $550.00 dollars to replace I was done with that manufacturer forever. So I’m happy to say that S9 is a horror show for photographers and doesn’t tempt me.

It's all got a bit ridiculous. I suppose there are people who will pay that sort of money for a camera. But for the majority of people fancy, all singing and dancing cameras are a waste of time, and filled with features you will likely never use. How many potential customers do you hear complaining about the bewildering array of features on camera? But sadly that's the choice now. Priced out of the market by pointless features and bad business decisions.

Unfortunately no one wants to find out they made a huge mistake after they bought something and the S9 with its shortcomings can really disappoint a new owner. I would rather take a listen to what you are telling me about a particular camera before I decide, rather than follow an influence person that has no real idea how to practice the "craft" of photography or know what's really good or bad about a camera no matter who made it. Case in point, I was gifted an Olympus Stylus 790SW, tough camera yes, horrible performer too, my 770 blows it away, but I did research before I got that one. A great deal of good information research Greg. After a great bit of researching of the G9. I purchased it 2 years ago , as a companion to my Canon D200. It has been a great Panasonic purchase. Panasonic has been our go to brand for the last 50 years. And always preformed to expectations for the price range. That’s TV’s and VHS players and cameras. There is a fault in the corporation model… it’s called “Corporate Amnesia “ ! The corporations forget when they do things right/good… !! I believe it is has a lot to do with management changes.
