Maybe “ Edge of the Blade” from Frontiers…but any Journey song is great…except for the overplayed radio songs from late 80s…maybe start from the beginning “ Infinity “, any song
Imagine a 2 hour concert with this talent filled group giving 100% the entire time. Phenomenal! We Boomers may be aging....but we had the best live concerts! Steve Perry will forever be THE "Voice"!
I really enjoy watching you experiencing Journey for the first time in 2022 ! They are timeless ! Thank you for appreciating them too ! You make my heart happy with your reaction ! Peace.
Steve Perry: is a countertenor who sings in the range of a high tenor to a solid alto. Among the few tenor altinos, he is considered to be incomparable due to his incredibly rare countertenor voiceJourney, Steve is renowned for his countertenor vocal range and the same live as recorded, just phenomenal...Dubbed "The Voice" In the Top “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”...Thanx for the memories, Great reaction, Peace
Amazing performance. Did you know the studio version was recorded in one take? Steve Perry is incredible! This entire concert Live in Houston 1981 is fabulous and on DVD. Steve Perry was personally involved getting this on DVD for us the fans to have and enjoy. This is Journey at their height of success. Stone in Love should be your next reaction.
When he starts singing, you know it's Steve Perry! No one else sounds like him. It's so distinct and incredibly versatile there's no doubt. So many great songs. Pick a few. You won't be disappointed.
Perry was nicknamed, "The Voice" by other artists and fans. He has a voice so unique that if you've heard him before, you would only need seconds to know it's him if you heard his voice again. Just incredible.
So pleased to see a new generation of fans discovering the immense talent, power and creativity that is Journey with Steve Perry. Be sure to check out "The Winds of March", "Patiently", "Liberty" and "When You Love A Woman". 🥰🎶
Thank you for acknowledging his stellar voice! I saw them live in Philadelphia at the Spectrum in 1986 and to this day it is hands down the best live performance I have ever witnessed. They were better live than they were recorded.
Love your reaction! It helps me feel appreciate pieces that I may have overlooked…in the incessantly constant rewatching of this masterpiece 🎶❤️Thank you
Awesome reaction! Your smile is contagious! Now you can see why this was voted the best live performance of any band or artist of all time. So much talent in one place. Not only is this timeless, but the message as well. You know, Steve's voice is studied in Universities. There are computer programs now that can isolate vocals from the instruments, but they have a hard time with Steve's because the AI identifies his voice many times as an instrument. When Journey told Steve that they were planning on going on without him if he didn't get his hip replacement surgery, he begged them to wait. He told them to do what they wanted in the meantime, just don't call it Journey. He told them it would fracture the stone. They said they knew, but had already been looking for a replacement. Steve had drawn up what he calls "divorce papers". Because they were looking for a sound alike, Steve was able to get written in there that he would still be paid as if he were still a member of the band, because technically, his voice still is. To this day, Steve still gets paid. Dean Castronova, their drummer, now sings this song live. He does okay, but in my opinion, there is no replacing Steve. Journey's current lead singer won't even touch this song. It was such a sad time for us fans when they went on without him. It was as if Journey had lost their soul. I still loved the rest of the members though. I actually went to see them in 2018, but just to watch them play. Fortunately, it was before they got rid of Valory and Smitty. Did you know that the piano in this video is called "The Whale"? It was on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a bit. I went while it was there and leaned over the rail to touch it. Sshh. Don't tell. 😂
Everything you spoke about is so true! Journey just isn’t Journey for me without Steve Perry. He’s irreplaceable. There’s only one named “the voice” and that is Steve Perry.
@@victorialw1 we must be! So glad I found you! I’ve been a diehard Journey fan for 40 years. My crush on Steve Perry began when I heard “Don’t Stop Believing” in 1981 at the age of 13. I’ve been smitten ever since and I just can’t get over him or this band. To me they truly are THE BEST OF THE BEST. I will always be a fan.
@@wendyhowe2178 Absolutely the best of the best! I discovered them when I was 10. My parents made us listen to AM, but I flipped it to FM one day and heard them on the first station to ever give them airplay. Steve has said he will always be grateful to them and has done a few promotions for them. I think I recognize your name Wendy. I was an admin for PerryOn for a few years. I left because I was leaving FB altogether.
Wow ..thank you..but let me ask ..who is the lead singer now ..cos if Steve still gets paid when they perform all these songs what's the point..they might as well bring him back..
Hi bud, I'm also a vocalist Steve has been my favorite singer and I agree with you he's the best ever..but 2 other names that also pushed me Brad Delp, n Gary West..please check out Shooting star Gary West is not Steve but he is OMG! One last thing listen to WINDS OF MARCH!!...Most people have no idea about this song ..wait until you hear him climb up his upper Register!..HIT ME BACK ..thanks so much!!!!
@@lilpoohbear653 You know, I listened to it again (after I wrote you), and You might be right! The man is just blessed and so are we! What a voice, THE Voice! Hope you have a great day! 🙂
...So glad you appreciate Journey Phillip...no ones got pipes like Steve, and Neil can play, a truly special act...still touring, still sound awesome,,,new singer Arnel is not Steve, but is great...but Steve is legend
@@PhiliminizzyReacts Hi ! Nice to hear from you ! I love watching you find the music of my life and so many of us growing up during that time.....we were all on a Journey ! Thank you for taking the time....I enjoy you so much !
The Best. I love his voice! Been a long time fan. Glad you discovered him as well as Journey. Enjoy. By the way, he was much influenced by none other than Sam Cooke, another of my fave singers and Steve's too.
Nobody can ever be done with Steve Perry!!!!...lol... Another song that will blow you away is ....... 'Why Can't This Night Go On Forever' (if you haven't already) Also! This tour was the 1981 Escape Tour. It was a very successful tour, that started in July of 1981 to July of 1982; playing 132 mostly sold out shows! Not only that! However, some of the concerts were big jam concerts. Meaning there would be like 3 to 4 bands opening up for Journey!! When Journey did this 1981 Houston concert. They also came back and did the Texxas Jam! They had Sammy Hagar, Joan Jett, Sanatan and another group opening up for them! The Escape tour was a monster of a tour! Mother Father, wasn't on the play list in most of this tour. Only a few cities got to witness this song in person!
You can't go wrong with Steve Perry and his solo career is amazing too. Much love to you and your family 💕Brandi Modrak 💕P.S thanks for reacting to them ❤
Since you enjoyed that you should watch Dead or Alive from that same 81 Houston Escape tour!! The fast pace of the song & precision show's how talented!! Mother Father gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it!! Steve is CLEARLY "The Voice"!! My favorite group of all time
Steve said this is his hardest song to do live. Alot of people thought the last note was a computer or an intrusment until the saw him sing it. Johnathan (piano player) wrote Faithfully for his now ex wife.
This is amazing. If anyone watches this and doesn't have the same reaction that you did to his otherworldly voice, they're crazy. The studio version is great you can hear the bass better on it. Check it out. Stone in Love has great bass too.
I’ve noticed you haven’t reacted to the very famous song “Don’t Stop Believing” yet. Hope it’s coming up soon. Best version is from this same Live in Houston 1981 concert. Also a fun few facts about the song “Don’t Stop Believing”. It’s the most downloaded song on iTunes something like a billion downloads...crazy awesome. And earlier this year in April 2022 it was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry for 2022. This means that song will be registered there for 1000 years. Making Journey’s music truly timeless. Steve Perry was so honored by the induction of the song to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry this year he did a short video speaking about it and how the song came to be back then. He was very honored by it. Steve has said “Timeless music takes time.” And that is absolutely true. Journey is an amazing band. We the fans love this band because they play with their hearts and we feel the music in our soul. Band of brothers. They were magical together.
@@PhiliminizzyReacts Thanks bro! Appreciate you and all you do to keep the music we love out there for new fans to enjoy as much as we older fans have all these years. Journey On!
Journey has a deep catalog. If you want to check out another singer with that type of range, listen to Brad Delp, lead singer of Boston. Literally anything off the first album.
Almost no music, and definitely almost no singers these days, can compare with those between 1965 and 85.. But there are a few, like young Angelina Jordan and and Hayley reinhart and and Dimash.. All who are currently among the very best ever throughout history
EPIC song Thank you. Suggestion please review Triumph's Fight The Good Fight live from the US Festival. Rik Emmett is Steve Perry singing & John Petrucci on the guitar all in one. I know you and your followers will love it. Thanks so much for playing this. Spot on assessment.
Journey had a lot of replayed radio hits, but they have a lot more hidden gem deep cuts where Steve Perry performs some of the best rock vocal gymnastics ever recorded. Go deep with Journey for some of the more awesome stuff
Check out Journey doing 'Mother Father' with drummer Deen Castronovo doing the lead vocals and playing drums simultaneously. His voice doesn't have the same fullness as Perry's - but dang is he great.
This song reminds of gospel music. At least the themes and the vocal harmonies. Don't get me wrong, it rocks, but it has a gospel vibe. "Have Faith, Believe." Can you dig it?
Neal, Neal’s dad, Ross’s wife (Ross bass player) wrote this and then the others put in their ideas. Piano, Jonathan Cain is classically trained and plays rhythm guitar. Steve ( started as a drummer, vocals, bass guitar, little lead guitar,) Steve has just a natural rhythm for music.
No one has a voice like Steve Perry. Him and Freddie Mercury are often compared to each other as to who's better. They are both great. Just have different styles. I still prefer Steve Perry. Please keep reacting to Journey/Steve Perry. Why can't this night go on forever and after the fall are great songs. There's so many songs. Most people only react to the ones that are the most popular.
there is a reason why jon bon jovi called steve perry "the voice." jon bon jovi is a very good singer. steve perry is heads and shoulders above all the top tier singers of the 1970's and 1980's. no one has even matched the vocal talent of steve perry to this date.
Steve Perry’s voice is “The Voice”. React to Guns N Roses if you haven’t yet. Not as good as Journey but you will love Slash if you haven’t heard the group.
