The idea that in complete darkness he decided to leave his first location to find a bigger air pocket is mind blowing. Probably one of the most corageous things I've ever heard

The scariest part is he heard large fish swimming around the ship in complete darkness, eating corpses

Being in that situation, pitch black, cold, hungry, and not knowing you'd be rescued in time sounds so terrifying

Unsaid in this video is the fact that Okene, though terrified due to his ordeal, overcame said fear and became a certified commercial diver. The best part? The diver who rescued him was the one who handed him his diploma. To have the courage to even go back to such waters...what a brave man.

Hi everyone, Just want to give everyone an update on Harrison! He recently just completed his commercial diving training at Jacks Dive Chest. Best bit - he was given his certs from Nico Van Heerden, the diver who rescued him.

I dont think he wanted the trophy, I think he wanted life.

Update on Harrison: he took a job in 2015 with the same company that saved him. He now dives commercially and may one day have the opportunity to go on a rescue mission, like the one that saved him.

The trauma must be unimaginable... Not many people are talking about how brave those divers were. That was a near impossible recovery mission. Nico is a brave man.

TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW: There is a video if Harrison's rescue on youtube! You can see his hand reach out and grab the diver's hand. The diver has an instructor talking him through the whole thing. I highly reccoment watching it !

In an interview he describes being able to hear his colleagues shouting and talking to each other as they were trapped in various other small air bubbles throughout the ship. One by one he heard them gargle and go silent over the course of those 3 days......

I'm ex Navy and was taught that, in this situation, when you exhale do so under water...the water absorbs more of the CO2 that way allowing your oxygen to last longer.

I feel bad for the guy, this ordeal has scarred him for life. A miracle he is still alive.

I wonder how many people have survived crazy things only to not be rescued soon enough. Reminds me of a family friend who survived treading water for almost 24h. He said seeing the helicopter and plane turn back the last time before the night was the worst thing ever. (They came searching again the next day and found him)

Hey infographics, my mother is from Nigeria and yh I live in Nigeria rn. I must say I am absolutely impressed with this documentary, the name pronouncing was not too bad for a foreigner and the story was well described. Amazingly my mother is also from warri Delta state 😂. Well we heard the story and my mom also told me. I was so amazed when I found out that it was a story about Nigeria because I was scrolling normally looking for you wonderful videos to download. I want to say thank you for making this and also yes the religious part was absolutely true but next time the black magic in Nigeria is know as ( JUJU OR JASS) love you guys

Update: Harrison Okene actually did get back into the water. He became a certified commercial diver and, as of very recently, became a saturation diver.
