I like how he called out clickbait youtubers without saying a name and being respectful about it because everyones just trying to bash the ps5 slim when it’s obviously better
Personally as someone that has been doing a lot of research on the PS5, I think instead of the plastic stands, they should have stands that are part of the panel on the side that can be pulled outward so you don't break the stand pieces or possibly even lose them, just a thought, y'all let me know what you think of my recommendation
@@SSGoatanks the PS5 slim has a "30%" weight difference, compared to the OG PS5, and the size which is literally much more compact. focusing on the design itself, obviously its similar, but it definitely looks more slick and more-over to the side a PS5 should look.
I honestly prefer the design of the PS4 slim. After 3 years and such a price, it’s a shame Sony didn’t bring any energy efficiency improvements on the table…
they changed the CPU architecture from 7nm to 6nm, which, like in a steam deck, reduced power consumption, so they could introduce smaller cooling in the slim version while maintaining performance. so I can't agree with you
@@Chiisaichan711I saw another video its got an expansion slot m.2 and you can use ANY m.2 drive and geta heatsink for 7 bucks. So basically 100ish for 2tb or 200ish for 4tb More...
What a difference console gaming has become. For what I got when I purchased the PS1 in 1998 and even the PS2 in 2001 and to see how expensive consoles have gotten for barebone packaging. My super Nintendo came with two controllers and super mario world. PS1 came with Jet Moto. Sometimes I wanna get a new console but then I realize the old games were just more complete and offer the same gameplay with less graphics. I got all the old stuff and I'm happy.
I still remember gaming on my old c64 way back in the 80s on a black and white tv with wooden frames on the side, so the transition through the different generations has been crazy, we are at a stage where I don't know how better they can go now though.
Consoles have always been expensive, games too.. Considering inflation and the amount of money the average person has today gaming has actually become cheaper, especially with all the “freebies”you get with subscription services.. £450 today is nothing compared to £300 30 years ago.
I didn’t have a PS5 yet, only the Series X and Switch OLED, so picking up the PS5 “Slim” was the easy choice. I’ve been enjoying it so far, being new to me the DualSense 5 is actually pretty neat. I do agree those little feet are so cheap. I stood mine up vertically and it does fine without the $30 stand.
@@Jay082 comfort wise the Xbox controller is hands down better in my opinion. The PS5 feels much clunkier than the Xbox’s. It hasn’t been hard at all though! I’m currently playing MW3 with the PS5 controller and for me getting adjusted to it wasn’t bad.
@@XxXxEvil you can take the disk drive out and get a new plate for it that’s flat, disk is the better option just so you have the drive if you need it.
I really didn't like the design at first, but now seeing it in a room, on an actual table, not edited onto a plain white/grey backdrop, it's growing on me. With their "replacement" plan for this, it was smart to introduce this right before christmas.
Hey bro, you just got one more subscriber. I totally agree about what you said about people creating "problems" for click bait videos for RU-vid. I am planning to buy one as a Christmas gift, and I was looking for an honest review like yours. Thank you man
For sure! Welcome to the home team bro. Yea man I just had to call out the fake negative reviews...you will definitely like this as a Christmas gift. What games do you like to play?
Just found your channel a couple of days ago when I was researching if the PS5 slim was worth it. Your videos that I have seen so far are all fire including this one. Congratulations on getting 100k subscribers! I am happy to be one of them.
That extra SSD space really makes a difference, you wouldn't think so but i'd imagine it makes having to shift games to a external HD way less frequent
@@CKidMbro can you help me out I want to buy a ps5 but I don’t know if the slim will overheat or if the fan being exposed to dust is bad but can you let me know which one I should buy the slim or the OG one because they still have the OG one at my Walmart with spiderman?
I brought the slim a couple of days after release (I traded in one of my OG units) and I love it I put a 4TB M.2 in it and I'm loving it. The Disk Drive is quiet and I've not once heard it run loud or hot. 10/10 for me I love it.
@JohnYoddie I haven't been able to use it very much because I've been super busy with work. I don't have the stand because it's so expensive, but when I get to using the console I'll get back to you and let you know. So far so good with what little use I've gotten out of it 🤗
@JohnYoddie Hey I finally got it up and running. It does overheat quite a bit but I'm not sure how much the summer heat of Australia is contributing to that. I've been playing it for almost a week now, I just have a fan beside it that helps blow all the hot air out and it's a major help. Keeps the TV I'm playing with cool as well
@JohnYoddie I don't have the stand though and I don't think it's necessary. PlayStation 5s have that liquid cooling and it melts and actually drips through the console if you stand it upright. The console already comes with a couple plastic stands so that you can have it up sideways without it falling over (because the disk tray is huge) so it all works fine enough in my opinion
I actually really like the design of my OG PS5 with the disk drive. I have it on a cool vertical stand, with the black face plates. Im finally picking up a 2 TB internal hard drive. I can only hold about 4-5 games at a time with the original storage space built in the console. Its an absolute must accesory. Those new controller colors look dope too. 👌
If You Don’t Have A External, Get Yourself 1, I Got The Slim Yesterday Because It Comes With 1TB, + The 2TB I Got Internal & External 4TB = 7TB 😂😂😂 I’m Thinking Of Getting A 4TB For Internal To Get 9TB 🤣🤣🤣 I Got To Much Games
@DemonFrmDaX yea, i already had a 4TB external HD , but it became really annoying having to transfer games constantly. So i put the games i no longer play on the external HD, and have 2TB of console storage thanks to the internal SSD. These new games are huge to download 80gb and up for most of em.
what vertical stand do you have? just picked up my ps5 disk version 2 days ago and i’m loving it so far. also what new controllers? is there some new colorways or are you talking about the pro controller?
@@nivrag00 I got one off Amazon a while back, dont really remember the name. But Sony just released two new controller colorways, metallic red, and a metallic blue.
Yessss I traded today in Gamestop offering a $50 trade-in bonus for my digital PS5. Get the disc I get MW3 and I get 1TB bundle great review 😂 plus $325.00 trade value
You’re not wrong about how some content creators create issues for clicks I saw earlier an idiot sticking a GameCube minidisc into the disc drive to see if it would play. One why would it it’s not designed to play them, two guess what because GameCube discs are smaller than a regular disc it got stuck in the machine he had to find a manual release that’s no the drive itself in the console to get it to let them tiny disc back out. Why the hell would anyone do something that could potentially damage their brand new system. As you said 550.74 cents that’s a lot of money. I baby my electronics and not do stupid stuff like take the fans out and let it cook itself or I saw another video someone attempted to remove the disc drive while the machine was turned on. These people are idiots.
That's the same content creator that overheated his PS5 slim by trying to play a game without the fan and he titled the vid "I Overheated my PS5 slim" for clickbait. I even called him out on it in the comments section. And what's worse is you have people in his comments trashing the console because of his own misuse of it. It's pretty warped and and irritating honestly.
@@adamalvarado7269 yeah it made me angry to see him doing that crap. It was clear at first was for laughs he knew Xbox games wouldn’t play but when he attempted to put a GameCube minidisc in I kinda hoped he broke his console for that stupidity, though at the same time I don’t think he bought that console he has like 2 or 3 I think they were sent to him for review purposes so he doesn’t take in the value of it at all. I had to save for months for my ps5 I just got and you can believe I’m not going to misuse it
Just got the Slim. its my first PS5. pretty happy with it so far. one thing though. YOU CANT DELETE INDIVIDUAL SAVES ON THE CONSOLE. you have to hope the game has the option to delete save slots within it. otherwise, you overwrite existing data or DELETE ALL THE SAVE DATA. I have no idea why this is missing. kind of makes me rethink my choice
@@ElmoKnowsWhereYouLive5150 I heard somewhere that Sony figured people dont care enough to have it implemented, and also maybe to push people to rely on cloud storage. But I honestly don't know. I've seen people having issues with Dark Souls and especially Death Stranding because you cant delete saves in game. Crazy considering you were always able to do it with previous gens. I did message Sony support and they 100% confirm that you cant do it. I'm surprised more people don't mention it. I just hope they decide to change it.
You can delete your save data for the game. If you have 5 individual saves on the game and want to delete say 2 of them then you have to do it in game.
As far as I know, you can, in fact, change the disk drive from one console to another multiple times. In pretty sure that, the reason why it needs to be connected for registration it's, the firmware from all consoles with disk drive since Xbox 360/PS3 era, came parried with the main board, and during updates, the update checks if the console as it and if the drive it's the one that came originally with the console, so there's 2 installation for the OS, one for all digital and one for br-drive, so in order for the console to work, it needs swap between version... But that's just my theory
Tronix literally did a video with two of these and you can definitely Use the same drive on more than one console and you don't even need to unregister it.
@@shootertone5644 lmfaro. No They won't. Why on earth would they. FML people will literally come out with the stupidest things to have something negative to say

Sony recommends horizontal orientation for the slim. If the metallic processor paste melts , it will run all over the board. Horizontal orientation helps keep the past in place, better. If you don't overheat your slim, it should not be a problem. Make sure you keep slim in air conditioned room and watch the temps and notice if the fan speed increases. Give your slim a rest if it heats up.
5:20 Wait what? Couldn't you let people borrow a disc so they can play your game at their house? I don't think they can rip the "key/license" from the disc to play without the disc.

Had my slim for a few days over a month. I'm extremely impressed and surprised at how quiet the system stays during sequences where there's a lot happening on screen. Haven't heard the fans ramp up once during any PS5 game I've tested on it. Honestly, while gaming, it sounds like it's just humming away without a care in the world. Time will obviously tell and I doubt it'll stay as consistent as any gaming PC I've owned, but for now, well worth the price.
Ok, so I got my hand a ps5 in March, and it was the slim model I've not had any issues with it. I was hesitant with the fans being visible as well, but it has been no issue. And I've definitely not had it overheated or be really loud. The disc drive hasn't given me any issue either the setup took me 5 minutes before I was installing Spider-Man 2 People makeing a big deal over nothing honestly lol
I am fine with my orig slim, but hats off to Sony for reducing manufacturing cost, not passing them to the consumer, and making more $$ on each new console sold.
You was right about people putting false information in their titles just to get views smh like I was really bored seeing all those PS5 Slim reviews smh but dope video man keep it up. But I would buy it for a desktop setup tho.
I ordered OG PS5 Disc for 435 euros within Black Friday sale, and I think still good choice for people from Europe, that slim will cost 115 euros more and available maybe in January
In regards to the plastic, I feel like at this point tech companies know that consumers are gonna buy their products regardless whether they give them quality or the bare minimum.
I'm getting it for the aesthetic and size difference. I love the plates' customization versatility.(and hate the glossy ones) Just waiting on the DL version.
The would-be first time owners have it good, having the option to get the upgraded version. The OG have that story/legend to it though, somewhat sentimental in a sense that it used to be so limited due pandemic and with all the scalper-nonsense
Maybe I only like the slim model because I don't own one but the original, but although I get it. I've been enjoying mine since I bought it and so far there hasn't been any issue.
I will keep my og, It works well. Can put a 4tb stick in there. I don't have any issues with the size or anything. + the fan is easy to clean if you have to. My ps5 is never overheated.
this slim version was released in my country early december. the retail price has been inflated, but luckily I managed to grab one with retail price. honestly really liking how good looking it is.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one that's got that minor problem with Spider-Man 2 I go off and do side missions instead of sticking to the main story And i think I'll stick to the original PS5 digital edition for now since I just bought mine back in March 29th of this year It took me almost 3 years to finally find one
I transferred all my data, added 2 extended storage terabyte storage usb, played mlb the show, downloaded Fortnite, downloaded Spotify, and entered modern warfare that came with the system. All that downloading or in queue while playing and my systems fan hasn’t cut on yet it’s running great.
Really good watch that 👍🏻 i think the horizontal legs should have been integrated into the console itself that you pull down from the black section. Those transparent ones are awful, I'm glad I've got the OG version
@@user-so2rh9om6yyeah i thought if that did happen you could buy replacements. Still better than having them loose & the possiblity of them going missing
I bought the ps5 slim 3 weeks ago, I traded my ps4 pro for it, but I have tons of ps4 games and I watch all my movies with my Playstation. I don't have to own a DVD player. I hate anything digital. I'm so happy with the ps5 slim.
The problem with these drives is that in order to move it to another console you need to have online connectivity to their ecosystem. What happens when PS6 comes around and they shutdown the store for the PS5? They can disable the ability to move that drive altogether at some point.
My PS5 had a faulty motherboard after a year of use, I can still play PS4 games in it but when I play PS5 games the fan gets super loud and overheats after 3 mins of use I tried everything like cleaning and replacing parts none of them worked, I just hope the slim doesn't suffer the same fate. 😢
I dunno how they can really improve further then what the ps5 can currently offer. Afaik a lot of the games out at the moment aren't even pushing it to its limit, so seems kinda pointless them releasing another pro. I reckon they'd prob save that for the next gen, as it made sence with the ps4 pro as there was a need for it when they released it
Love this channel! Straight to the point and no nonsense. My only issue with the slim is i feel that considering how much the blu ray drive is, there should have been more of a price difference between the two models. I like the idea that you can add a drive later, instead of getting a a whole new console. I also like the split deisgn of the plates -- makes it easier to upgrade the SSD.
It depends on the way you like to game. If you have a collection of PS5 games you may want to replay in the future then the OG one is the superior option due to the internet requirement. If you factory reset the console once the servers go down the whole thing will at present become a brick.
The complaint of “needing internet” to register the disc drive is crazy. To have $600 for the system and say you don’t have internet in 2024 makes me think you aren’t home enough to be on a PS. 1st video of yours I’ve seen, fantastic, and relatable reviews. Thank you and have a great day!
It took them years to perfect the original PS5 while it took a couple weeks to come up with the slim. That should tell you which one will be better in the long run.
I agree with you Brodie! That plate was hard as hell to get back on haha! And I agree with you on fake negative reviews for clicks and algorithm!! There’s a few channels that live off that 😞
Man I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was struggling with that damn plate lol. Yea man with the fake negative reviews...I had to call them out and keep it 💯
@@CKidM the negative reviews feel like a trend that’s picked up. Or dinging products in spaces they weren’t even designed for. But it’s all good! Keep killing it bro! I got next lol!
Kickstand: Allegedly the reason the ps5 slim came with only the clear plastic stands is because that was Sonys way of acknowledging which direction you should stand your ps5. The clear plastic stands are easy to lose because they are meant to be used. If they thought standing it up was really safe you would have got that option like you did with the og ps5
I initially felt it was still too big but kudos to Sony for making it smaller. As far as the plastic stands… “is it Sony’s fault? No…” well, they are responsible for design and development 😂… I agree though, seems a bit of an afterthought. Thanks for the vid! All the best to you…
@@user-rk5ym9ep7o Easy there…nothing I stated was written in concrete that’s why I stated “it seems” and it was an opinion. Based on your subjective opinion, the stands are sturdy and you appear to be happy with the design. That’s great. And I honor that opinion…. The only statement I take issue with involves what is in my possession, which you don’t have any knowledge of. All the best to you! 🙂
Series X has a magnetic fan that does 0 noise, virtually no noise whichever the fan speed is unless you put your head right over the console. I got my PS5 Slim last week and its fan is audible since the moment you turn the console. It's not loud and it won't go noisier while gaming, but we cannot pretend it is impossible to make a more silent fan when Series X has been in the market for three years. Heck, my Series X has thousands of hours put in since the launch date and three years later it's still absolutely silent whereas my PS5 Slim has been noisier since the very first start.
I’m trading in my PS5 og day one edition to GameStop. I’m a pro member so they are giving $357 plus an extra $50 credit for Black Friday. That’s $407 so I will only pay like $130-$140 for the slim. I think it’s a good deal because it’s slimmer comes with a free game Mw3 or Spiderman 2. And it’s 1tb storage so for $130 it’s not so bad what you guys think.
I think that you're going to make a mistake. In the future the OG model will be the only one that will work since the disc drive requires internet for validation. If you're the type of person who buys physical media, keeps a collection and likes to have the option of replaying games years in advance then the OG PS5 is superior. If you do not care about that then go ahead but I firmly believe that video game quality is actually deteriorating so you may want to actually play those oldies in the future. Just look at MW3. Companies are getting more money orientated over providing entertainment value.
On your comment about 240 Hz, there is no reason for a CONSOLE to be able to run 240 HZ because TVs no longer have 240 Hz anymore. TVs are only running 60 or 120 now since around 2015-2017, 240 Hz TV ended. TVs are usually catering to the casual Home Theater approach where here in USA, we have 120 Hz TVs to hopefully fill in the gaps for movies running 24 frames and make it look smooth. (Different in some other countries like UK with 25 frame films) Consoles are placed in a more casual set for that type of screen vs a Gaming PC rig with someone wanting to use the highest specs parts and whichever monitor which isn't done like a TV. TVs now will usually be a set 16x9 aspect ratio in 4K in a 43"+ size with HDMI as the connection and placed at a further distance than sitting in front of you less than a foot away. Monitors will range in various different sizes, aspect ratios, resolutions and frame rates and do have HDMI, but main connection will usually be Display Port which runs more data at faster rates. They have similar purpose with respect to bringing up an image that can be used for gaming, but diverge in main purpose. Plus there's also the millisecond response delay for the competitive FGC and FPS gamers who will usually want the lowest delay in Gaming monitors. TVs aren't really going to compete.
I like the pegs. Maybe I am weird. I also do not like using consoles in vertical mode, but especially with PS5 and the liquid metal on the CPU as it can pool to one side and cause issues in vertical mode. Also you paid $540 but you also got a free $70 game, so you are leaving that part out. And we also got about 200GBs more memory, which is worth a bit as well.
Better keep it horizontal to prevent future heat issues from what I have read. I returned the digital because it is so unstable on its side. The disc version sits far better and looks better horizontal. I do notice the fan is louder than my original ps5.
Awesome video bro, keep up the good work, just curious can’t you use that old PS5 stand on the PS5 slim if you use the stand. Also you can always just mounted on the wall, that’s what I did with my digital PS5 and PS4 slim gave me more space, now if I were to get another PS5 such as the slim mounted on the wall just like you mount tvs on the wall, but it’s still cool. The PS5 slim is cool not coming though my launch day is just fine. God Bless bro 🫡
Personally i think everyone should just buy the disk version. I have always been a person to let my friends borrow my games so they can play it & see if they would like to buy it or not. Got to lookout for my people's man.
Last console I owned was the Sega Genesis. Yeah I know. Joking aside, I’ve owned this for 24hrs and so far so good. The original cable did not work on an old LG Tv 1080p. I guess it’s a different cable to work with 8k. I also don’t mind the plastic legs.
I was amazed at how quiet the slim is. I wasn't able to keep mine, but yeah, I was pretty satisfied. Seems like the biggie had higher fps but I was really happy with the slim. It ran much better overall.
I think the slim is a way better option cuz if you’re someone that takes gaming seriously and love to have a lot of games downloaded to play I would say it’s more worth it then the Regular ps5 version honestly i can’t understand why people want to act like the ps5 still better when clearly the ps5 slim has more storage then ever and it’s a lot way better option but hey
About the disc drive,..its mostly talked about preservation,..for now yea, that ps5 is still selling and internet is not an issue,..but when talking about 10, 15 year down the line and if for some reason, ps5 server is no longer around, and you did not authenticate at the time, its become a e-waste,...
But removing the disc drive and taking it to a friend's house is the same thing as... Taking all your Physical copies to a friend's house or straight up lending it to them. Isn't it??
WHOA...Gamestop!!! Damn I'm shocked...they usually be robbing people...I thought they would've gave you like $13 and said that's the best they can do lmao. Well in your case that is a solid deal.
I am worried of burn out issues due to Fan size etc for future use. This is because of past problems many have had with PS Slims in general...so now I don't know if I should get a 1st Gen or 2nd Gen Slim?
Just sold my OG PS5 and bought the slim. I love the design, it’s a lot less heavier to transport. The only thing I hate about it is that when Sony does revisions of consoles they stop putting the plastic handle in it. That’s my only critique.
The disk drive argument confuses the heck out of me. You basically described a very complicated way to let a friend borrow your game disk. The very same thing we've been doing since ps1.
A good honest review and I respect that. Agree with you on the itty bitty plastic feet. I’m from the UK, waited for the slim PS5 cos I didn’t want the OG Radiation King version. I paid £449.00 and the feet are cheap-ass. Still, I’m happy overall with the system so far. As a side note - my OG PS4 did me for 12 years!! That’s value for money. 🤙🏻
I know this is targeted towards new consumers, but let's be real. The reason our systems break is because of the disc drive. This shit is mutha fuckn removable. it's a upgrade frfr
That "certain" group of people that are complaining about the disc drive are pc players wanting to mod/pirate games and manipulate the drive. Sony did rught by protecting their product.
I love my PS5 Slim. When I had an Xbox Series X, I had heating issues that caused my system to shut off whenever it wanted to and when I also bought the Xbox Series S, it would be glitchy at times and it would not let me click on some games for whatever reason. With my PS5 Slim, I have no issues at all. I’m not trying to be biased about Xbox and PlayStation, but I’m being honest about both consoles. Don’t get me wrong, I do love Xbox, but in my opinion, they kept the Xbox plain while the PlayStation looks and feels more futuristic to me.

When has a console slim version ever been of the same quality of a launch console? You’ve just bought a downgrade my friend but unlike every other generation you didn’t pay less for it🤷Welldone! You’re the emperor that paid for an invisible suit that didn’t exist😂
This looks like a fisher price toy and it won't recognize its disc drive in the future should you ever need to factory reset your console. With this limitation we should have been given a cost saving. The OG PS5 is the one that will survive in the future. It will become like the backwards compatible PS3s - If there's one without YLOD in good condition it will be worth quite a bit.
