Agreed, pretty great headphones. I’ve had the “non-Bluetooth” version for years and they just won’t die other than new ear pads I had to order eventually. Picked up this model too. Great video thanks!
Mine randomly stopped turning on today. Plugged them in, red light on. Charged for a morning shift at work, red light off. Try turning them on and they go on, connect via Bluetooth to my phone and then immediately power off. Repeatable, happens every time. Will probably claim my warranty.
I like the way you describe the sound quality. I get it. You have to know what you want, and I think i will order these - knowing that listening to bad recordings from the early 90's might be a little harsh 😁
I love using headphones and have a high end pair and an upper mid range pair. In comparison these for the price compare very well. Bluetooth sound quality is very good, great amplification. To up the quality further I use wired or into my Fiio BTR7 or ifi Gryphon. A very good buy for traveling with. Great value and well built. Pleasing, musical sound.
Seems like these should be a good alternative to the MUCH pricier Sony, Bose, Sennheiser equivalents. Good sound, good performance when used with cable, functional app at a much more affordable price. What’s not to like about any of that?
TLDR: They are great! I bought the ATH-M50xBT2 half a month ago. Can't really compare it to the Sony WH1000XM4 because I only tried them on in a somewhat crowded store. Noise cancelling was definitely apparent, but it was hard to judge the sound quality in those 2 minutes. When it comes to the ATH-M50XBT2, I can definitely hear the difference in sound quality when using Bluetooth vs wired. Bluetooth never really works when you want perfect sound, so I am happy that you can use the headphones in wired mode which from what I've heard are on par with the original ATH-M50x headphones unlike the AKG-371 BT from which I've heard that the sound quality in wired mode doesn't compare to it's actual non Bluetooth counterpart. Bluetooth sound is still good for casual listening btw. When I first tried the ATH-M50xBT2 on, the clamp force felt a bit too much as I was used to cheap headphones that easily fall off, but after having used the new headphones for about half a month, they feel nice. Just needed to get used to the clamp which isn't too bad (I don't have the widest head so that may be an important factor) and the headphones feel way more secure so I don't have to worry that they will fall off when I lean forward. The only thing I don't like is that the headphones come with a pouch instead of a proper hard case. The pouch folds too much for my liking so I feel like the headphones aren't protected that well. Just don't want to take the risk. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. But if you have the chance to try the Wh1000xm4, you could. Especially now Black Friday and Cyber Monday are happening and in my country the XM4 is about the same price now as the ATH-M50xBT2. But I don't need the noise cancelling and the Wh1000xm4 are more bass heavy by default which is not really what I was looking for. Forgot to mention, battery life is also great. Had to charge them after a week of constantly using them (about 6 hours a day, after 7 days they went below 10%). I had to get a 3rd party case for the headphones but for the rest it was definitely worth the money
Can confirm, I've been using them for work quite often! Excellent sound especially for BT, the mic is decent but not great (no real issues in my use case though). Money well spent!
My Sony xm4 literally the headphone fell off because a 1mm piece of plastic holds it on, my MX50's still going after 6 years and went back to those, it endures.
I'm planning to upgrade from these headphones. I really want to spoil myself. I'm not experienced with headphones but love music. Not sure if that makes me an audiophile. Do you have recommendations on what to update to? I live in Pakistan so unfortunately not a lot of options to try stuff out. I really like sound stage, so someone recommended the Rx70. But will the lack of bass throw me off coming from these headphones? I don't know how the bass compares on this and Rx70. I'm not a bose headphones user, so I don't think I'm used to overinflated bass luckily
They do leak. I have the original pair and they leak sound. I don't think it's bad. There's certainly worse. People will be able to hear your music if you BLAST the volume, but at regular levels people won't notice or mind at all
@@The12231 bruhh i just got the notification... Anyways i bought them and learned the hard way , was playing egirls by corpsehusband and the part : choke me like you hate me but you love low-key wanna date me when you f me touch me... came right as a priestess sat next to me...
Well the frequency of the drivers might be the same (didn't check) but for sure the BT itself will cut down the audio quality naturally due to how BT works.
There is. Just not sure how to activate it yet as Im still waiting for them to be delivered. But I saw another reviewer turn on the noise cancellation feature and test it by blocking out the sounds of cars and trucks passing by.
i did the mistake to purchase this headphones and now i 'm really considering to return them ... after one hour of continue use it gives you a headache and ears really hurt from the pressure it exerts over them ... i was intending to use them with computer but they become really really uncomfortable to the point you need to take them off and take a break from the pain ... i had used before the audio technica ath m50 coiled wired version which i used them for more than 8 years but i don't remember them to be so uncomfortable ! this bt2 are atrocious after 1 hour of continue use !
Stretch out the headband...and leave them wide open on a wide box (even on their own shipping box), when not in use. Also I highly suggest getting aftermarket thicker earpads...it's night and day difference in terms of comfort and not much change to the sound. I use BRAINWAVZ memory foam sheep-skin ones and the pressure on my earlobes is gone ( the plastic grill of the inside of the cup used to touch the tips of my earlobes to the point they hurt like crazy...not anymore). Check them out. PS. Oh and I use them at the office some times hours on end...no issues what so ever with the replacement pads.
@@marian-gabriel9518 thanks for the suggestion ... definitely should invest in a new pair of ear pads giving the fact that the stock pleather crap is perishable within a year or two ... wonder if the Brainwavs sheepskin is genuine or is deceptive advertising ... i would take it that real leather won't crack in time like the stock ones ...
Hmmm I did that mistake with my AKG K371 by buying the Dekoni Elite Velour and it totally ruined the sound signature and bass totally went away. It sounded dull. As soon as I put the original pads back they revived. Wouldn't these have the same issue?
I’ve used a lot of headphones for the past years from known brands like bose, beats, sony, jbl etc. The ATH-M50X BT2 is by far one of my favorite… Yes it does not have the ANC feature, but I was never a fan of it anyway. I still prefer transparency of able to hear my surroundings. It is an overall a very well balanced headphone in my opinion….
The M50x series are way better than the M40x just to own them. The cans rotating to either side for one makes them more durable. They're tanks, you can toss them around and they just last forever. I don't think these cans will ever die.
m40x sound soooooooooooo much better, not even comparable.. they are waaaay better both for mixing and for casual listening.. 50x can't be used for work, mixing, guitar practice AT ALL, they sound so muffled.. tested both for a week, 50x are PURE trash compared to 40x in EVERY DEPARTMENT except that rotating part..
The way I’ve abused my M50x these past few months amazed me in their build quality. I’m generally rough on gear as I see it all as a tool and build quality is important to me.
Replaced the tiny ear pads immediately. I cannot for the life of me get the mic to work on this. I even tried it plugged in. The sound is impressive, but the mic not working makes it a failure for me. Also, the instructions do not show how to enable or disable the background noise, and I've seen it done on one video, though, sadly, the uploader didn't show how he was toggling it on and off. When I go to the Windows sound settings, if I tab over to the mic section, the audio stops playing though I can see the sound indicator moving. I assume it's so you can test your mic, maybe not. Either way, the mic just does not work. As for the headset, I was playing music on WMP and whenever I start any game the audio disappears completely. I'm just so frustrated.
@@residentzero wired being analogue inherently cannot be lossless. There is noise from the source device's digital to analogue conversation, the cable connections and the cable itself acting as an antenna. If you've ever had to suffer the endless clicking from an electric fence blasting RF you'll understand. Bluetooth 5 uses forward error correction so the transmission (within design range) is lossless. The codecs AAC/LDAC are not lossless, but at sufficient bitrates (not that high) they are transparent compared to FLAC. Those that always demand lossless and can 'hear a difference' demanding higher and higher bitrates are just audiophiles who don't understand information theory and/or human hearing perception.
what i found is the earpad turns heat after 20 minutes of wearing... maybe because I'm living in South East Asia?! the mic is not good for me. the sound quality is very good.
@@chuckolatte600 thanks man. I bought the BT2. They sound great with my digital piano but lacking a little bit of very low freq. Also, the stock earpads are awfully uncomfortable and I'm going to buy the brainwavez hoping they will be more comfortable without much of sound quality loss.
