I had the same epiphany. Between 2019-2022 I bought 10 birkins and kellys. I’m not even including the diors bottegas ysls that I picked up too. I realized I went overboard. I’m down to 2 birkins and 1 kelly. I know that I only want box tadelakt and chevre coromandel leathers. No soft grained leathers for me. So it was a very expensive lesson in leather preferences lol. I’m out of my bag collecting era and putting that energy into real estate and my business, but I know for sure at a certain point I’ll get back to my bags.

may i ask what you do for a living? i thought after you bought a b/k bag your history restarted and you had to buy things again to hit the mark for possible consideration for purchase history which averages (10-20k) what’s your best advice to acquiring them in boutique? appreciate it

Good call Jess. I love how you mix and match and don’t worry too much about clothing and shoes and jewellery. As long as you have a beautiful bag that makes you happy and instantly makes any clothing, shoes and jewellery look special, you can look and feel incredible. Personally I don’t have any clothing or shoes or jewellery that’s designer. I know I can chuck on a pair or jeans, white tshirt, and look and feel like a million bucks when I carry my handbags. I’m scared to pay premium prices so I make sure I buy pre loved. I’m extremely good at restoring handbags however, it’s best to buy the best condition preloved bag you can afford. Your collection is joy! I see your eyes twinkle and your smile widen when you pick them up and hold them. Your such fun to watch ❤😊

Please consider making a vid on your designer clothes collection!! I’d love to see what you’ve collected! And your shoes!! Or maybe highlight things that you’ve sold and why… if you can remember what U didn’t like abt them (besides not being an Hermès haha). I’n addition, please consider making one on how you generally approach buying an Hermès bag- esp a Kelly/Birkin-online… bc the whole thing just seems so daunting! Like where would you go/what do you look for, & are there resellers you trust more than others? Or would u only buy a bag you could see in person? And how do I go abt checking/evaluating it to see if it’s authentic? Do you, or have you, ever used an online authentication service? or brought it into the actual store to be serviced and that’s how you confirm authenticity? Or bought one and thought it was different than it looked online & had to return it (Bc some sites let you return your purchase). I would just REALLY appreciate your thoughts/opinions abt shopping for Chanel or Hermès or even other designer bags/items on resale platforms, as well as in physical shops. And since you’ve worked in one and prob has every type of experience buying/selling items, would really LOVE/APPRECIATE if you could share your tips for shopping online, or even in person at a consignment shop or resale shop. I’ve been trying to look for bags and other items I like, and obviously like to look at Hermès bags that’s are for sale, but while I know ALOT abt them, I don’t know the first thing abt how one goes abt actually buying one of them… and although I have the resources to buy a Kelly, or a Chanel bag I really like… actually buying it is a daunting idea! Ive bought other designer goods online, but knowing there’s possibly expert fakes hanging around, when it comes down to purchasing something THAT expensive, I freeze & get cold feet… I think it’s bc it’s online, & I don’t know EVERYTHING there is to know… & don’t know if I ever will 🤦‍♀️ or atleast feel like I know *”enough”* to confidently purchase one of them! Maybe if I knew more abt how other ppl go abt doing it… like using authentication services, looking up comparable prices, etc… it would be easier to do- HOWEVER, creators/ppl online (that I’ve come across at least) don’t EVER talk abt the purchasing, or process of evaluating, negotiating the value, assessing if it’s real, sending pics to an authentication service, etc… they usually just inbox or show off the end product! If there’s any recs for ppl that DO discuss this aspect of shopping for designer bags/expensive items, PLEASE help a girl out and recommend one! Haha I think it’s primarily bc I don’t know the best/most reliable/reputable way ppl go abt authenticating items… and even then, there’s limited recourse one can take if it IS a fake… so I don’t know if it’s better to stick to a more prominent reseller in case there IS an issue with the bag- bc one of these big co’s like RealReal or Fashionphile may charge a little more… but if *they* sell a bag that ends up being fake, I’d assume one can send it back (prob even if the tag is off). Speaking of… Have you ever bought a luxury bag from a person/shop on Instagram, for example, or someone like a private reseller? Or used someone that’s kind of like a personal shopper, (and/or know how much that costs?) Also, when you’re assessing bags & shopping on the resale market, do u only buy pristine ones? How messed up can a bag be for Hermès to spa or be able to fix jt? Is it like LV where they can replace a handle or buy a missing part??? Bc that’s something I consider when looking at preloved LV- I know it’s okay to get one thats priced a bit cheaper for being in a lesser condition *IF* I can actually remedy it… like, something thats maybe just missing a piece or has nasty handles- bc at LV you can pay to put new handles on a bag or purchase a missing part… I’m someone that spends a lot of my extra time shopping/looking at things, clothes, bags… online (with RU-vid playing up in the corner, of course😜), & I’m a student/researcher at heart too, so I enjoy learning abt the history and evolution of brands/objects… but I’m also diagnosed OCD so I can end up going down some pretty deep and wild rabbit holes! Somehow an hour, 2 or 3 hours pass… and I think it’s 20-30 mins! smh 🤦‍♀️ I’ve ALWAYS liked purses… ever since I was young- handbags were always my favorite & were also the item I liked looking at in the stores and collecting… Buuuut now that I ACTUALLY *CAN* afford to buy these nice things I’ve always adored and dreamed abt, it’s basically impossible- & it’s *so frickin frustrating & annoying* that they’re just not physically accessible… or they’re not worth my money, even IF I went to buy one new in the shop! smh 🤦‍♀️ But don’t get me wrong… I’ve always loved thrift/vintage shopping; I just don’t know if I’m willing to spend >10K on something of which ppl say 50% are fakes! I don’t know if I could even spend 1K and take a risk like that! It just seems like *YOU* have SO much knowledge & experience, so I’m grateful you started a channel! Also, you seem so natural and comfortable talking to the camera… so real! I *can’t staaaand* ppl on YT that talk abt bags or luxury goods and plaster on a fake smile throughout the whole vid, or talk/act like they’re all prim/proper and fancy… & also, seemingly, like they’re better than everyone else, ugh! 🙄 Have you ever thought of making a vid that consists of you screen recording on your tablet or computer and looking at listings of some designer bags, or any Hermès bags/items, that are for sale right now on various retail sites (or that have actually sold already and have pics/price info available). While looking at the different examples of bags for sale, you could be sharing advice or red flags or less obvious issues/damage, & places to look at that often show damage etc… and just go through each example by explaining what you think abt the bag, describing how you generally go about kind of assessing an item that’s for sale or researching it, including: what you look for or don’t like to see in a bag that’s for sale online? Maybe show some on sites you like to use and think are reputable, or whatever… Alternatively, you could pick some popular sites and big name brands/bags on them and scroll thru the pics to say what bags you think are good deals or not and why?/why not? It could almost be a series- where you’re highlighting not necessarily exact bags you think ppl should buy… but educating ppl like me, whom are just starting to buy preloved bags online, and pointing out known issues certain bags have, styles you like that are readily available, even abundant, on the market… & which ones you think are good choices or classic styles or underrated… etc. If there’s someone that does this type of vid/content already, pls share their name! (But that wouldn’t mean you can’t do it too…) I’m trying to learn not only what bags/brands/styles I like, the history of them, which ones would be most useful to me, and which ones are often problematic… but also… how to assess an item that’s been “preloved”, and whether there’s ppl that have had good experiences with them, or whether different materials or versions of the item are better fits for me and my lifestyle… U know? Sometimes, I just feel so overwhelmed when I go look at these sites, that I go down rabbit holes and only end up with more questions… and more bags/things to add to my list… haha! Not sure if this has been done, but I don’t think I’ve come across anyone doing it- but since you’re knowledgeable & have experience working in a consignment shop, it could be a good/effective way for you to share that more unique and specialized knowledge?!? Other ideas: A vid w/ top tips for ppl starting to shop for designer bags, or top tips for ppl starting their Hermès “non-journey” or “self-directed journey” whom are shopping for pieces they want online/preloved... also, favorite bags from each fashion house/brand, & fave bags under 2K… I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations, & I think you would likely help a lot of ppl bc of your depth of knowledge and familiarity with shopping & fashion. Thanks for sharing a bit more of your history and how you got to where you are- I just love all your beautiful & colorful bags and how open and honest you are. Sorry this was so long! Like I said, I Have ocd and can apparently get a carried away with expressing/explaining my thoughts… look frwd to your future vids- already have learned so much from you! Thanks! Sarah

I wasn't into designer stuff at all until the pandemic. I knew like 5 brands at best simpy because they are more present in the mainstream media or advertise perfume on TV. With the first lockdown, I was on my way to work and I was browsing for something small to buy for myself. I saw a Prada leather bracelet and then I went down the rabbit hole of watching YT and I spiraled into handbags. I cope saying that the bags were a "pandemic love affair" but I still scroll and look at bags. I have no need for desinger items. I spend most of my time in front of my PC 🥴 I don't wear my obviously branded bags, I'm worried that they will draw too much attention. I also have bags that are contemporary or independent brands, they have no resell value and I'm pretty much stuck with them. It's completely stupid. With the prices going up and me going part-time, I can't afford or justify paying this kind of money for a single bag. I started to look more at silks and perfumes now. From one thing to another 😵 If I lost it all, I would buy an LV damier azur bag or an SLG. I love the pattern too much to let go of it completely.

You can always thoughtfully rehome bags at any time for any reason. I think having things that you truly love is the most important thing because life is short and the whole point of having nice things is to make you happy. Hi Jess! First of all I want to say how much I love your channel and the original content you make! Please keep going! I myself loved bags from a very young age, so no I do not consider buying bags a waste. It's really a hobby and some people have much worse hobbies than that. Have you ever checked Launer London bags? These are the bags that Queen was using and they are supposedly an amazing quality. They are currently offering online customization, pretty much a special order bag. Their prices are very reasonable and they even have exotic leathers. I am thinking to order a bag. My only concern is non existing resale value. I am like you, sell my bags quite often. Would love to hear your thoughts about this brand! xoxo, Elena
