The fact that this movie, has definitely the BEST animation quality we have ever seen in the entire franchise, not the best but a very VERY good story telling about the saiyans, this new version of Broly (which is absolutely better than the version made by Toei), Goku's origin and how Frieza is the main reason of everything that happens in the movie, having a great build up to the fight, making BROLY AND BARDOCK CANON IN THE SERIES, and yet there's people that dislikes it.

I gotta say when it comes to backstory, it being more centered on Vegeta very much helps. Maybe I'm stupid but I always thought that the idea that Broly being focused on Goku and his tears being connected to his anger at the Saiyans or whatever was reach of the century. Not only does everything for Super Broly make more sense, it's also just made more engaging imo. The only real thing Z Broly has over Super is how much you felt how ravenous Z Broly was. Now obviously that wasn't the angle Super was going for and I respect that but I could feel every attack Broly landed on Goku and the others.

The thing about Z Broly is, when Z Broly sees Goku, the memories of his bad childhood appears, Z Broly think that when he destroys Goku, he will also destroy all his bad memories

Z brolys obsession with goku wasnt a “saiyan rivalry” it was because broly is a power house, the strongest there is, and goku crying just brought him back to when he was stabbed as a kid therefore reminding him of his only “loss” so he began to associate goku with defeat

This movie slaps, there's nothing else to say. The buildup is awesome, the fights are brutal, set up Brolly to be a potential ally, and made Gogeta appear. It's pure gravy!

I'll never be able to replicate the sheer CHILLS I got when Goku starts screaming during the ragdoll sequence. Up until this point we haven't seen Goku losing to the pain of a fight since OG Dragonball. Broly is a superior character in the DBS rendition but og Broly was special for the same reason that earlier scene gave me chills, he was the first villain to legitimately surpass Goku in terms of power. Even Cell wasn't stronger than Goku, homeboy just gave up so his son could acknowledge his own potential

Something very few people talk about is how strong frieza truly was during this. He got ragdolled by ssj broly for over an hour and still had the energy to stay golden the whole time and after, and be able to do an attack but Gogeta stopped him.

I think regardless of whether you preferred Z or Super Broly, you can't deny this movie is so good. Like, it's actually not just "decent" or mindless fun, it's a genuinely solid narrative with likable protagonists AND antagonists, coupled with stunning animation. 9.5/10 for sure, a litter higher than my score of the original Z movie.

I like both versions but I will say the thing that made Z Broly in the first movie so popular which is something Second Coming ruined is that on top of him being OP, he was talking hella shit while eviscerating the strongest Z Fighters; “Kakarot, how much do you love your son”, saying to Vegeta after clotheslining tf out of him” So you really are all talk” and then to Piccolo “What do you expect from a true freak” the first movies Broly really gave you a feeling of “how are they gonna win?” I rewatched it a month ago and had that feeling and plot really is the only reason Goku won 😂that’s the reason I still love Z Broly from the first movie but I also like Super Broly even tho I think he should’ve been an antagonist longer or at least under Frieza’s control for another movie or so

One of my favorite finale fights. Gogeta Blue was as powerful as Broly, even a little less. But dominated through technique and discipline. It wasn't about unlocking a new form or using one technique to curbstomp him, it was about a warrior and a martial artist using their combined skills to beat a feral beast that probably could have killed them And for your question, Z-Broly is a better narrative tool. The reason I loved him is that, as a villain. He was everything Goku was dialed to eleven, the Super Saiyajin to Goku's Saiyajin. But this Broly is a better character, with depth and relatability. I consider both their own entity, and like them both for their own reasons.

Personally, idc about Goku’s SSB transformation here. *As stunning as it is,* I prefer the peeling shell effect from RoF; I find the transformation sequence to be too drawn out after coming off of the anime, manga, and RoF movie all displaying SSB as a form Goku doesn’t need to strain himself to bring out. Makes it out of place. I generally also prefer SSB’s colour/aura from prior properties representing it as a gentle aqua-blue flame. Whereas here, it is coloured closer to SSBE and has tints of purple. All a preference - Hope Sparking Zero has a costume for both styles like how Raging Blast had two styles of SSJ1 Goku

the power up they decided to do from base to super saiyan to red and then blue just sends chills down my spine every time. instead of an instant transformation, they do it similar in the buu saga when goku shows 3 against buu.

I would go as far as to say that this is the BEST anime adaptation since OG dragonball Z and Dragonball. IMO I didn't like most of super. Dragon ball gods was not bad it was just "Okay" to me, but this movie is special. Fantastic I hope to see stuff like this in the future.

I feel like people think its teasing at 31:22 that he turns silver for "Ultra instinct" but really he's been trying to tap into that form since the tournament of power and hasn't gotten it yet. So from what I feel or think is that he tried here again to go ultra instinct again but couldn't so he went to blue instead. Not really teasing but just reality that Goku cant exceed blue because that'd be non-canon from the ending of super, still as of yet since he's not being pushed to his limits enough or has not trained enough to entirely control going Ultra instinct by will alone.

The reason why Broly hates Goku is because of ptsd. In the z movie he was more aware as a baby and goku cried endlessly when he was trying to sleep. The ptsd comes from when solders came in to assassinate broly and stabbed him in the stomach. Making his murder attempt and Goku's Saiyan name being what he remembered from that moment he flashes back too. Granted we should have gotten flashbacks during the movie of him remembering these things but also most were kids and didn't really understand PTSD back then when watching the Z broly movie. So a life long meme came from this misunderstanding.

I agree with your take of Broly having more potential than Frieza. Frieza has repeatedly fallen victim to lack of practice with his power. He has lost to Goku twice now because he used too much stamina too fast. Meanwhile, Broly, having just become a Super Saiyan and with no Ki control training, is able to pummel Golden Frieza for an hour. This must mean that Broly had stamina to spare, since he isn't trained to conserve it. He then fights Gogeta for almost another half hour. Dude has so much energy he might as well be an android.

My only gripe with this movie is them having to shit on god ki again to show how powerful someone else is. My thing is why even introduce god ki in battle of gods and a new hierarchy of beings if your just gonna shit on it the very next movie? By today’s standard in dragon ball, if someone has enough raw ki they can match or even overwhelm someone who has god ki. Remember, right after battle of gods Frieza trained just 4 months and almost beat ssb upon its debut.

Some people wildin' I remember how much backlash there was right away that i went into the theatre in America skeptical cause of all the people that saw the Japanese one and hated it... So sat through watched and replaying while I comment this. King Vegeta's whole thing is he wants to overthrow Frieza. He fought for freedom not to become enslaved to a more powerful force. I loved his portrayal yeah he's petty but he just wants his people to stand atop he genuinely was scared of the legend. He was hoping it was his son, cause he thinks he's a good man and raised him right. But seeing the actual baby and how nothing on that planet could stop him in a full moon upon birth. Was a precaution a petty ass one. But still. Super Broly immediately reminds you where the Saiyans were and tells a story through combat that tells you where they are now. Through the point of view of an outside character. To him everything they do becomes spectacular just as it was to us as kids. We see their transformations through Broly's eyes and he sees colors we've never even noticed before (like they weren't there but it's fucking beautiful) Vegeta is this dominant force that he can't lay a hand on. And seeing him get punched away is one of my favorite moments in all of Dragon Ball.. That first person POV is fucking spectacular too. No dragon ball story since Namek did a better job of telling a story through pure combat and I daresay Broly did it better than everything between Gohan kicking Dodoria and Goku transforming into the Legendary Warrior of the Saiyan Race. But we know he's not at all that pure cause he fights for very selfish reasons. Which is awesome that he's flawed. Don't get me wrong. Bardock comes off so intelligent like the scientist Vegeta called him. And Bardock respecting Prince Vegeta as a young man and knowing that goes backwards too is AWESOME. Broly tells you the story of the actual pure hearted Saiyan in their universe. Seeing him survive the Soul Punisher/Stardust Breaker was just given a smirk and moved on. Cause it respected the viewers knew what it meant. Gogeta then does something most people still haven't noticed cause it's told in pure combat. A fusion can never power down. And Gogeta would never waste stamina to power up without transforming cause he knows everything they do. When Shenron is summoned he goes Blue Evolution when you see his aura come back out it's two flames until he weaponizes his transformation to make physics his literal b.... If you pause before the Kamehameha you can see both auras spinning around him separated by a pretty large gap to make it obvious. He uses the full body version Gohan used in Cell that actually threw his transformation at him. (Gohan had already mastered sleeping in Super Saiyan and he ends in base form). There's also a moment where you see the Kamehameha is first just a big ass beam in front of his hands before they show his sura shoot forward too about two seconds later. You then actually see him throw off his extra aura after he fires his Kamehameha too. Like dude pulled up and as much as the universe has grown in power Gogeta still makes everything they've ever done look like child's play, exactly like he did in Fusion Reborn. He pulled up on a legendary warrior and said. What's a legend to A GOGETA!!!!!!!

I just realized that Frieza wanted to do the same thing as bulma!!

It's crazy how many people confuse Movie 8 with movie 10. In movie 8, Broly was talking hella shit after transforming and had one of his most iconic lines to boot.
