@Nutsa, always glad to see one of your genuinely logical observations in a world of toxic fandome. this movie looks and feels bad. the casting flips are besides the point.
its not even about being competent.... why does he exist in the film then? many of the male leads in the disney films actually provide little to the film besides beating a big bad...
Thank you! It's becoming a bit of a pet peeve of mine. I hated in Maleficent 2 how Philip was so clueless all the time and only did the bare minimum by the end. It annoyed me specially because I actually liked the character, he had so much potential and Harris Dickinson is a great actor, they could've used his talent much more
So not being a murderer means a man is incompetent now...? OK y'all...😅 He's the Prince of a whole country and is incredibly wealthy but we should out him down because he didn't kill an octopus... sure.
Fun fact: There was actually a 90s live-action remake of Cinderella with a black actor as the lead, and it was very positively received. So it is just bad writing lmfao
It’s a remake of the Rogers and Hammerstein Cinderella where she was originally played by Julie Andrews. Just wanted to mention that cause for some reason a lot of people think it’s a based on the Disney animated film.
To be honest, even in the original animated movie, I thought "Vanessa" was scarier than Ursula. Prettier certainly, but something about her just seemed more sinister.
It was her high, sharp, thin eyebrows and the haunting melody oozing out of that damned sea shell. The way the eerie glow crept up Eric’s veins into his eyes
@@kennethwible3755 Disney really knew how to characterize, once upon a time. And the fact that it was Jodi Benson doing an Ursula impression using her voice-so twisted! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QNDhZaULNBw.html
@@ebbss4 I think the real question is was there anyone older than 10 who is surprised that it's absolute crap? I grew up with the original 1989 movie and I still think about how charming the visuals and the characters were. This reboot reeks of soullessness, and it's pretty clear it's only purpose is to squeeze dollar bills out of people's pockets through minimal effort, just like nearly every Disney movie for a while now with a few rare exceptions. Man, Disney used to be the greatest, it's a real shame what they are now.
Nobody and I mean nobody, is ever going to replace Samuel E Wright as Sebastian. He made that character Iconic and hearing the New Sebastian just feels wrong. I hate everything about this movie, The Little Mermaid was my second top favorite Disney movie (Hunchback is my number 1) and to see this soulless, heartless, darkness piece of absolute garbage is just so disheartening. Disney needs to stop ruining our childhoods.
No way! Hunchback of Notre Dame is my favorite, too! It’s so good and the soundtrack!😍😍😍 Ariel is my favorite princess so she come send. Glad to see someone else thinks the same!
My favorite part was when Eric pointed at the ocean and said:" If we did cross the sea and killed our enemies, will we finally be free?" Truly one of the moments of all time.
@@JinxeBlaq trust me, you can sh*t on THIS diversity (ie. Disney trash) as much as you want whether you're black, Asian, Indian, gay, bi, trans, green, four arms or alien.
Imagine if they made live action PRINCESS TIANA white or anything other race but not black - people would go CRAZY and start protesting or doing something extreme. They really did do Ariel dirty and wrong. Ariel is not black and never will be. Ariel is white.
I guess it’d be ok if she did a cover of all of the songs for the 100th anniversary, but she was a poor casting choice for Ariel, just look at the screenshots of her
@@CobbleBompster I wouldn’t say she was a poor casting choice based off of screenshots (wdym by that) ?? Her acting at times felt a bit stunted, she had Ariel on point but didn’t try to make it more than that - however that appears to be an issue with most of these films. She’s a good actor so that wasn’t on her lmao, more so a fault of the director.

@@countessofmontecristo3849 If you were right, she would be negative about every piece of media she talks about. But she made videos praising Megamind and Arcane. How do you explain that ?
Bro, those sisters don't have a single parent in common, let alone a common mother. They're from totally different families. Unless they're all adopted.
I said it tons of times and i'll say it again. Halle deserved a character of her own. Disney is basically cheating her. And they clearly hate the source material and it shows
@@snowymuffinexactly, not to be racist or anything but they should’ve stuck to the movie how it was originally made, not change the ethnicity’s. Plus where in the damn movie was Ariel’s iconic red hair?!?! They should’ve made an original movie with her in it just like the spiderman movie which they added a ton of characters and didn’t change they’re ethnicity. Its like saying Mexican Mulan, they should’ve stuck to how it was made, and its even more racist how they changed her ethnicity just to add more “Inclusion” ,and for those who think its not racist, racism comes in both ways honey
Kinda sucks that Hallee basically has to have her name attached this film. Because she's going to be referred to as "Ariel from the worse version of the Little Mermaid" for quite a while.
@@notwwwansik Any young actress would agree to star as a main character in their films. Especially black actresses that don't get as much opportunities to be in fantasy genres. (Think about it...how many black girls have you seen as main characters in fantasy or fairy tale...? Admit it.) We would all agree for that check. Besides, even though some think it's bad, y'all are still gonna remember her name for ages. The fact that y'all are even talking about her right now proves the age old saying in Hollywood. Bad press is still press.
Halle-Bailey was probably gasping from the pain of the dreads going over her head and hitting her back like little rocks cuz Disney was too ignorant to realise that dreads in water was a very VERY terrible idea. 🙃
How would hair even dread underwater... lol if you were constantly underwater even the curliest hair would be flowing free constantly. You can braid hair sure, but dreading naturally in water? Unlikely.
@@st1nkyr4t ahhh wasn’t aware of that. Then that’s even more confusing, why did she inflict that upon herself? Unless she wasn’t aware of the technicality of that stuff. 💀
@@st1nkyr4t then Disney was stupid to listen to her want. Braids/dreads in water hold a LOT of water to the point doing Ariel's resurface scene would give the actress whiplash. Oh wait, that's exactly what she complained about too lol.
Les poissons, les poissons Hee hee hee, haw haw haw With the cleaver I hack them in two I pull out what's inside And I serve it up fried God I love little fishes, don't you?
I agree with everything you just said, except for I’m sorry her voice just doesn’t say Ariel to me and the embellishments that she adds really doesn’t sell it. Please don’t hate me for that just my personal opinion.
Same, the embellishments kill the emotional expression and it is no longer Ariel singing to herself about her dreams, it’s an American idol contestant living out her dream by trying to impress us with acrobatic vocal tricks. Not buying it, that’s not Ariel singing because it’s all too much and she simply can’t keep it inside. It’s somebody performing. Fundamentally misses the point of the leading lady’s establishing musical number, Part Of That World, and thereupon the entire film falls apart irrevocably-irrevocallably?
@@TheCapedWanderer exactly freaking exactly and then the acting from her. It’s just terrible it’s Solis and they cut up the part where she swims around humming because she’s happy honestly I’m kind of glad they did that because something tells me daily return it into another American Idol contest thing I’m not saying the woman can’t sing she can but she just isn’t fit for this. This songs are meant to be sent a certain way not some R&B thing and that’s what she’s doing and I’m sorry I don’t care for it.
@@Leamichellefan2244 yes and she’s humming Part Of Your World! I also love that scene where she’s picking the petals off a (sea?) flower, “He loves me. He loves me not... He loves me!” and her reaction to each one is so genuine and excited/dejected. The humming. The pretty squid-flower she puts in her daddy’s hair, and swims off still humming. That kind of little characterization and sincerity is so important to show for an audience to relate to. Halle just hasn’t got a hold on the role, and neither did the director or writers apparently. Sucks because the character is spelled out very clearly in her song, it’s really quite hard to miss, but they managed it. Yeah it’s not as if she doesn’t have a voice, I could see her singing R&B or pop (or the national anthem 😓), but a musical is a different thing: you need to act _in_ the singing, and Halle struggles with just acting on its own, she’s really not equipped to play this part.
@@TheCapedWanderer i’m not gonna lie the humming is my favorite part because it’s kind of like what happens in Cinderella. I mean you can tell that she’s a she’s in love that she’s doing that you can tell that’s why she’s coming like that because she’s happy but no Halle has no freaking idea what she’s doing and if you want my honest opinion I think the only reason that she got this role besides well the obvious that I’m not even going to go into is because she is part of Beyoncé’s company, so technically Beyoncé manages her and remember Beyoncé was a part of the live action lion king so don’t tell me she didn’t whisper to somebody he hired this person and that’s how she got it.
@@Leamichellefan2244 that makes a lot of sense, I mean yeah the obvious reason was clearly a big factor but I’m not surprised at all that Beyoncé dropped a line for her. I mean, all this nonsense about “the perfect Ariel” like, umm, what? Diiid ya watch it?🙃 She looks and acts nothing like her! What part screamed Ariel? Oh, the recommendation from Beyoncé and the uncriticizable color of her skin? Goootcha
I don't get it why some people think Ariel is "weak" when she literally saved Eric's life so it is realistically fair for Eric to save her life later on. I think it was a fair deal. I think a lot of people miss the point of disney princesses..and wow would you look at that, usually people who are saying Ariel is weak is..women undermining each other again, I've seen this before but I don't know where..
That would imply Disney actually cares about "representation" but with all the stuff happening in Florida, adding a drag Queen would cause them to loose money. Disney is fake af
to be fair: Having absolute SHIT lighting and basically everything being dark has one major upside. That being that no one sees how terrible the effects and CGI are
Little Mermaid -> they cut out like 75% of it -> they add pointless filler and make it hit past 2 hours -> Nutsa condenses it to 4 minutes. Thanks, you've saved us a lot of time.
Also I HATE THAT HER BLUE DRESS!! Where was her purple sequin gown when rose above seawater, where was her poofy pink dress. PLEASE LET ME SEE THE LIFE IN THIS MOVIE AAAAAAAAAHHHHH
I've not watched a single Disney LA remake and never will. Hearing the thoughts of people doing it for their jobs/channels tearing it apart is far more entertaining and cost effective. Thank you for your service and condolences to your mental well-being.
Thank you for genuinely making me laugh out loud (like, loud loud, it was probably annoying). This is the best thing on the internet right now and also I bet it serves as an actual review because it looks like this movie doesn't even have enough material to over analize it and we're too tired to bother with Disney remakes.
I have no interest in seeing this abomination of a remake, Disney needs to stop rebooting classics and leave them be, they should just focus on movies that they haven’t done, thank you for your honest review
You know honestly at this point it must be a known form of torture for movie critics and essayists to watch the disney remakes/ reimagining's and all I can say is I feel sorry for Nutsa so Nutsa go have a cookie and stay away from bad movies for a bit you've earned it.
If this video felt soooo much longer than 4 minutes, i cant begin to fathom just how excruciating it must have been to sit through the whole damn thing
I actually know why this movie, and most other live action Disney movies are so dark. They dim the lights down so that the bad CG is harder to notice. I’m not joking, that’s actually why they do it, you can look up brightened screenshots from the movies
thank you for your service o7 also good to know that the novelization of the movie that they published before the movie came out was a 101 version of it, that was a cool mercy kill. Thank you disney
i went to watch thinking it was going to be really dark based off the trailers (kinda annoyed me ngl) but it surprisingly wasn’t. you could see everything well while it still giving the illusion that they’re deep underwater. most modern movies are darker than this one and they don’t even have an excuse to be lol
Personally I really enjoyed The Little Mermaid live action. Did I love it? No. But it wasn't terrible either. Imo it's still good. Some scenes were actually entertaining and I honestly love Halle as Ariel. I just wish the CGI was better and they didn't drag the story out.
I remember running into someone who told me they cast the black girl because of her singing, not because of her skin color. They got angry when I pointed out that Ariel can't speak. Guess the film makers noticed too and thought of the pretty much worst solution to this 😂😂
At this point I dont even care about any Disney products, I am so out of touch that I thought it was released several months ago but I will keep watching your videos unlike DIsney you put effort in your videos and it pays off keep up the great work.
It's interesting to do the geology on our fairytales and myths because you find each generation/Era adds its own spin and additions to it. There is always "cultural assimilation" happening. It's ironic that they are doing this to the major franchise fairytales when they themselves are always so angry when others do it. I'm always scratching my head wondering where the Woke get the nerve to claim an awakening moral high ground when really they seem to embody the arrogant self righteousness idealism of a teenager who thinks they need to school the adults on why they aren't doing more to fix the world's problems. This level of moral maturity we are at. We have degenerated and labeled it progress.
Hold up - the racially diverse sisters all have the same mother (who, herself is black). 100% irrevocable BS! There's suspending ones disbelief for the sake of a fantasy story; but this is asking way too much. It would have made far more sense to have Triton have a harem of wives or adopting these girls from various kingdoms as a show of alliance or some such. Having them all look so different from one another and expecting the audience to believe they are come from the same parents (with the excuse of 'they're fish people that come in a variety of colors) is asking way too much from the audience. Also something that can't be believed - when did Ariel ever learn how to steer a boat? And how is she doing it when she literally has no legs to stand on to steady herself?
Ariel. Uses a fork As a comb but can steer a wheel. Same As LA Jasmine who wants to be sultana because she's such an intelligent woman but doesnt know you have to pay for stuff.
Not just the human skin part are diverse, but the lower fish half also from different species of fishes. Clearly they are adopted (maybe thats why no daughter of triton song)
Vanessa doesn't make sense anymore. In the cartoon she's supposed to look similar to Ariel because she's using Ariel's voice to put a spell on Eric. Here ... she straight up looks like she's from the cartoon when no else does.
This is funny and at the same time saddening. I loved the little mermaid as a child and I think I have to preserve the memories of watching the original on vhs and keep it at that. ❤
I wish i saw this before I went with my whole family. My little sister fell asleep. My brother hated the CGI and acting. My stepmom got bored. And i felt upset because I wanted us to have a good time. And it wasn't that good really... I wish I could get my time and money back...
I’ve just stumbled across this channel from an EFAP description and this is my first video I love it, that’s because I love the voiceover and humor, please make more.
I'm not comfortable with hoping that something that people slaved over does poorly. However, I do want the abuse to stop. The only way that happens is if the live actions profits grind to a screeching halt. Please let it end.
