"I don't drop character till I've done the DVD commentary" RDJ literally did the DVD commentary in character too. Half of the movie was just RDJ just doing ad lips but Stiller kept them in because he couldn't stop laughing.
End of the award for most eclipsed character in a comedy goes to Bill Hader. It seriously baffles my mind how you put Robert Downey Jr who was obviously in the R-rated comedy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Jack Black, Danny McBride, and Bill Hader in a film and they get eclipsed by Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey( mostly comedic actors including Ben himself, hell even McConaughey had a comedic role in a Bill Murray film where McConaughey played a crazy Texas truck driver)
Nice reaction video guys! Except you missed the fact that mcconaughey character took the G5 and used that to deliver TeVo to speedman. And if you look at the explotion of the bridge, the way Speedman takes the impact (changes direction midflight) is directly from Mission inpossible III. 😊
Thanks man! Oh damn you’re right 😂😂 didn’t even notice, what a friend. And yea I thought that explosion shot felt familiar, cool they grabbed it from MI I mean if Cruise is in the movie, you kinda have to!
That’s so sad when I hear people say they wouldn’t do a movie like this today…. How sad what we have become…Comedy has always served to make great commentary on our society, imagine erasing the topic yet there is racism and discrimination all around… fighting the wrong fight if we censor comedy…it’s actually going backwards than forward in my opinion.
The core spoof is on the making of Apocalypse Now, a production so legendarily messed-up that the lead actor (Martin Sheen) was hospitalized with a heart attack......
Short overview of the insane production hell that was Apocalypse Now: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TXC-b4O_H_M.htmlsi=z6m3aqAIvMj7apox
I really enjoyed this reaction! Good editing, too. But I always find it funny when (especially younger*) people say this movie “COULDN’T be made” today. It’s pure satire, which I think modern audiences actually appreciate *more* From my own personal experience, circa 2008, lots of people still argued that describing things as “ret*rded” (or “gay”) was totally acceptable and just meant “lame/uncool.” 15 years later -aka today- it’s much easier to see how this movie was roasting the crap out of those people. The fact that RDJ, technically, does “blackface” is somewhat more complicated because most people were becoming hip to how uncool that type of thing is by the time the movie came out. But now that a white person using HEAVY makeup to portray someone of a different race is widely considered a no-no, it’s much easier to see his character as a send-up of method actors who go overboard and take themselves way too seriously. I think Tropic Thunder COULD be made today, but would likely fail for seeming too “obvious” (not because of the offensive content) *To me, anyone who doesn’t viscerally remember TiVo automatically qualifies as “younger”
Yeah it’s a shame we can’t see more stuff like this nowadays, it is satire like you said. Just a shame some can’t take comedy and jokes for what they are. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Thank you! And appreciate the editing shout I try my best 😅 I love the satirical nature of the film and I agree it COULD be made today but like you said wouldn’t do well. But who knows with a star studded cast and a clear message maybe something like that would be interesting to see. Thanks for the awesome comment and for watching! PS I have no idea what TiVo is and never heard of it until I saw this haha
@@ItzWilson2 It COULD be done only in theory, and by an unknown independent company, censored by every possible woke media outlet in the US, which is a majority, $hat on by the woke critics, the makers attacked from all sorts of places, actors CANCELLED, screeching blue haired maniacs rallying against it...and if the film managed to be released, against all odds - audience would love it. So it would be next to impossible to make it and release it today but it would in fact do VERY WELL.
Didn’t break the 4th wall. Kirk Lazarus was playing Lincoln Osiris who was disguised as a Chinese Rice/Poppy farmer… RDJs attention to detail in this was uncanny!
Great reaction to this insane film. Some of my favorite films on the more “underrated” side for movie recommendations: Prisoners, Children of Men, AfterSun, Moonlight, No Country for Old Men, Good Times 2017, Blade Runner 2049 if you have seen the first one, Silence 2016, Nightcrawler, Doctor Sleep if you have seen The Shinning, Warrior 2011, The Martian, First Reformed, 12 Years a Slave, and V for Vendetta.
You guys are or went soft by editing a CHARACTERS' words. Def not gaining u subs. People should hear these words from time to time in conversation. Smh
