i havent seen the movie personally (just not interested. i know medical people and research medical topics as a hobby so its hard not to get too nitpicky even with what ive seen in reviews) but what i have seen others say because this is a reasonable question anyone would ask at first is that his mr. tusk was more human than other walruses. that is hearsay tho so maybe he just thought it would be fun who knows..

@@the_homun_system This could very well be it. Plus in the movie he does say man is the most dangerous animal, so maybe he wanted to fight a manmade walrus for this very reason.

People were talking about how horrifying it is and body horror is something that usually bothers me a lot but tusk doesn’t as much? It’s a level of ridiculous that I just can’t buy into so I can’t really do anything but laugh at it.

Its ridiculous when you see Wallace suddenly morphed into a weird human Waleus hybrid but hes not... He's a human mutilated and stuffed into a walrus suit made of human skin being held captive by a man with a *Walrus* fetish. You can alter it a little and have a true S tier horror film. You can have a dude have an obsession with someone and their obsession goes beyond that of affection and adoration but its a perverse love. They kidnap someone, they mutilate someone, so they cant fight back, sew their mouth shut so they cant complain (but its reversable, so maybe they wont mind anymore and the weirdo will reverse it, and you can see how far gone they are) and explore how far the body mutilation goes. The body mutilation went pretty quickly in this movie but if it took longer, and you can see the person slowly degrading you can see them become something entirely different that would be horrific.

I’ve never watched this movie but I’ve seen tons of people do commentary vids on it and seen plenty of stills from the movie and goddamn is it disturbing

I'm a little confused as to how people can find it funny. I understand laughing at the PREMISE but seeing the actual...execution? Horrifying!!!

@@CapriScorn_Rising SAME. This is like the one movie I couldn’t finish because it was so upsetting. I could handle more extreme movies just fine but like... this movie wasn’t funny, it was just cruel and miserable.

I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in this. I read the synopsis a while back, laughed out loud because it sounded absurd and funny, then actually read the details and watched the trailer and felt sickened. Gave me human centipede vibes all over again - another film I will never watch for as long as I live. These things and body horror truly disturb me like no other

I found it confusingly funny, uncomfortable and disturbing all at the same time. I was so confused what I was supposed to feel watching it.

*And* hilarious, the scene where the walrus-abomination is revealed I laughed so much

I'd really recommend Osmet on a flick called "Sex Ed".. not super great but I really liked him in it. Also he was in the Amazon series "Delta House" (worth a watch) and he was really funny on Hulu's "Future Man".

There is definitely jokes in there and really it's one of those things where if body horror doesnt fuck you up you can see the funny parts but omg the body horror element is so fucking fucked I can totally see the nightmare fuel

I think the “comedy” is the idea sans the horror is .. literally everything else.

Nonconsensual body modification is the only horror that I can't get over.

I am a glutton for body-horror. I love the stuff, especially when it deals with metamorphoses and utilises practical effects. Cronenberg's "The Fly", John Carpenter's "The Thing", Kostanski's and Gillespie's "The Void"... I saw "Tusk" once. I don't want to ever see it again, and the only thing that soothes the pain is watching others share in the trauma. Much as the weepy manchild has fallen from grace as of recent, I cannot deny that he created something wonderfully deranged here.

Surprised that it was age restricted! It didn't feel all that intense to me. It was quite interesting, I haven't seen any of the Scream films, but the video introduced me to what they're about

I made it 12 minutes, but I can't watch any more. I've gotten better with horror in general, still can't handle body horror (and yes, I stopped at an incredibly tame part) I'll leave a second comment and like the video, hopefully that will counterbalance the dip. I'll loop the SCREAM video tonight as well. I'm also realzing how unecessary this comment is. Oh well. You Da Best.

I did but it's difficult to remember what other movies we watched other than this, Color Out of Space, and May (which was one of my choices too.) There were a lot of weird ones but this definitely was the winner 🏆 lol

However, when wearing the walrus suit, the villain had the same bulk as Wallace, and he was able to rip through it like paper (or flesh) without encountering any barriers, so I think the movie literally forgot to account for that. I’m going to assume though that it’s murder victim meat padding the costume, but I think that’s putting more thought into it than the movie did. I think hypothetically with the right surgery, you could unanchor the arms the same way they were anchored, but honestly, it’s been like… years since I’ve seen this! So, I’ll take your word for it :)) but IRL disabled people exist and have good lives without full arm mobility (also without legs) so I guess Wallace’s biggest issue would be mental trauma, after a lot of OT and physical therapy. He should’ve tried not being an edgelord podcaster and maybe his friends would’ve googled it before dumping his weird ass in a zoo.

I think it could’ve been effective to show at least a couple of stages of the walrus transformation, with Justin waking up more and more mutilated each time. He would scream and swear and beg the surgeon not to do any more, promise him money, emptily threaten him with revenge etc. until finally he wakes up with tusks in his mouth and can no longer speak at all

It's the suit for me. Every time there is any movement with it, my immersion is just gone. I go from "oh this is horrifying" to "... Did you even try? What happened?"

I think this movie was made solely for the weird body Horror and the hilarious lines it spawned. I consider it weird entertainment 🤷

True. With dogma for different reasons, her is going as wild and weitrd as he can, and i think dogma is one of his if not his most earnest and serious, i mean still very funny, but still somehow a gravitas of a christian movie.

If thats one of his best i dont wanna see the rest.

I actually enjoy this film too. I think it’s because it’s so unique. I remember the first time watching it and really having no idea where the film was going to go.
