Another possibility had to deal with a few months ago was trying to convince someone their new smart surge protector was defective. Back and forth for 3 days before he gave in and pressed the test button on it and wouldn't ya know it it came back with bad test result. Sockets go bad sometimes, when they do just pray they don't take anything with it. The only other thing if guessing on stuff that's new is maybe the bottom fans running through the case? Maybe cables got caught/cut on the case material and now shorting.

Mostly because it makes me feel better about my own mistakes, like thinking I was being smart by getting an R5 5600G in my build to use until I get a decent video card and only finding out yesterday that apparently I've gimped my machine down to PCI3 because of that choice. Back in the middle of August I had an issue with random shutdowns. 3 months prior to that the same thing was happening but after ruling out all components it started running normally. So 3 days ago, while freaking out because I was losing study time, I decided to swap the motherboard. I had an extra Z690 Maximus Extreme for a buddies build and replaced my Z790 Extreme. I got done and had the same issue again. For the life of me I couldn’t figure it out. So I unhooked everything including 19:50 the wires going to the power button, HD led, etc. I booted with the onboard start button and voila it booted and no shutdown. Turns out that the HD led wire or power led wire had a short. These were parts I had cannibalized off the first PC I built back in ‘05. So yeah intermittent issues suck. Keep it up!!

I 3D printed the top of the case to fit the second 240mm radiator and used quick connectors from alphacool to connect each component, as well as a short Linkup PCIe 4.0 riser to move the EKWB Vector RTX 3080FE Special Edition to the 2nd slot and free up space for the tubes and quick connectors between the CPU and GPU waterblock. It's one of my hardest builds that I did. It requires a couple of micro fittings from EK to allow you to get behind the GPU waterblock from the reservoir.

Everything worked fine for a week started doing it again I put that same graphics card into another computer graphics card works fine so I think OK maybe it’s a power supply so I change the power supply again works for a week same problem. I change the motherboard the exact same motherboard works for A week and does it again I think it’s something with the MSI motherboard that’s causing a problem or do you think it could be the 5800x3d. Or maybe the GPU. But again the GPU works fine in my other computer that also has a 5800 X 3-D in it just an a motherboard and I mean I ran a constant stress test for 72 hours and nothing happened the second I put the GPU back in the original computerdoes the same thing all over again and yes, I did do a clean install of windows 11

I can't see Phil stacking anything on top of his PC. Before you get too deep, get a HEATKILLER® 200мм glass tube reservoir. They look cool as hell. It won't block air flow, so mount it right on top. Then you'll have easy access Phil port.😁

I'm surprised no one has thought of flat hoses/ square and flat right angles for near-flush mounting...let me know if I'm wrong...also, all these card specific water blocks....such a waste of manufacturing time and energy to make individual styles, it seems so horrendously inefficient. Let's design one that works for all 30xx series, 40xx series.... add a fine threaded screws to raise and lower crucial conductive pieces to it can be adjusted to fit multiple cards like a 30 60, 3070, 3080, 3090 ( you get it)

Meanwhile I'd just move it into a larger case instead of the overheating zero airflow zero air MASS artsy-fartsy undersized rubbish. Because of course sharting fragile high maintenance water cooling BS into case half the size of what should have been used is the answer. NOT! It's sad when the "real" answer to heating problems on a build like that could be solved by handing $60 or less to DIYPC. Stop making problems that shouldn't exist in the first place!

Hmmm... my loops I only compromise on space the case takes up. Full towers for me with nice large D5 pump/res combos and 3 radiators, none of this _"Let's see if we can squeeze a full custom loop in 22 litres."_ rubbish. Good luck with the OCP issue Jay (mainly for Phil's sanity).

I don't have an answer just a concern. My 4080 pretty much does the same thing, but mine is bone stock and the MSI x trio. But still, randomly all the fans in my system go to 100% screens go black like there is no signal from the GPU, then eventually the system will restart itself. I have already replaced the stock 12VHP connector it comes with the far better CableMod version and when that didn't fix it I sent it back for an RMA. It does it far less frequently now but it still happens randomly. It will do it randomly for like an hour, then it never does it again until I shut down my system. And before someone says its probably something else within my system, because I thought the same thing, I have tested and retested with all components I have it only happens with this GPU in it. The only things I couldn't switch out was my CPU, Motherboard, and PSU.

Sounds simular to an issue I had a few months ago. Try unplugging the front panel LEDs. My HDD LED had a dead short and was tripping OC protection.

Oof. I was getting flashbacks of building my dual 240mm rad 3090/5950x water cooled build in an NR200P. I had to push the vertically mounted 3090 up and basically fasten it to a spot the case was not originally designed for to get enough room for the fans on the bottom rad. Jay is running into all the same issues I did…

Video summary: Phil asks Jay to watercool his PC and Jay screws it up. lol No, but in all seriousness, this can happen. I remember servicing my PC by replacing the thermal paste and it not turning on afterwards. After a few months of frustration, consternation, and going back and forth with RMAs, I finally got my PC working again. 'Turns out, it was the motherboard that was the problem. And I'll give you one guess who made that motherboard.

4:17 I've got a 6900xt woth a 5900x custom looped in a nr200 with dual 240 thin crossflow rads, 4 thin 120 fans, and a corsair pump res combo. Biggest pain in the ass I've ever built

Jayz I have the pump block combo, I have encountered similar problems. You can fix it by filling directly to the combo res. The pump then will push the water.

I love it when people show it sometimes does not work......sure you will solve it quickly :) .....or Phil can finally finish his long term handheld review ....... After watching all the content on liquid cooling I am now really wanting to do a hardtube liquid loop. The problem is I am still deciding whether to go intel or amd as my current board and cpu is a 5960x with a corair h115i on it so will require new board, cou and ram but was wondering is it worth buying some of the parts now and doing a loop just for my gpu power colour 6900xt and the when I decide on cpu upgrade get the next part of the loop ?
