I’m usually one to root for an underdog but I honestly never get tired of seeing Leo win. A class act who despite what he says isn’t cocky but just confident. Never doubt Leo
How can you get tired of watching the best to ever do it? It's not like he is using a corny character. He has won with everyone. And with the game becoming more and dlc focused it is fun to see someone just out fundamental so many other really good players.
The fact that people doubted leo is insane just because he wasn't prepared for steve once. Now he's back destroying Acola twice in tournament. And a 6-0 on top of that
Exactly. He shut them whiners up real good XD. It was glorious witnessing how silent people got when he said he didn't prepare for Acola that much, and yet he still got around the Steve jank. He's certainly WAY above everyone in terms of skill level. But even then, that shows how you can beat any character if you are good at adapting to them on the fly.
@@Spyder-Marth Almost every broken fighting game character in existence can be beat. It's not a question of can they be beat, it's how much more effort does a player has to do to beat them and is it fair. Unlike Smash, most of the FGC has no issue banning broken characters. The Smash community takes pride in not banning clearly broken characters even at the cost of the games competitive life span. The smash community wears it's stubbornness as a badge of honor at this point.
Leo really came in there with the "How many times do I have to teach you this lesson, old man?!" mindset. He stomped everyone so hard, Kurama's ONE win over him is considered an achievement. When will people learn? I swear. 🙄 Added note: This is also the first time in Ultimate history a single player has completely dominated 99% of the sets in a super major. But no one is talking about that because it's Leo. But he's "washed", right? 🤚🏽🙄
21:50 until the end of that game is one of the craziest moments of the entire tournament. Absolutely mental how Leo just doesn’t press shield and lives for like 10 seconds, crouching under back airs with down tilt… it’s a fucking matrix movie man…
@@greenamogus Don't want to be shielding against Mario too much at 164%, back air is strong AND safe so he either stays in shield, gets hit out of shieldstun and dies, or he gets grabbed, back thrown and dies. So the optimal move is to just... not shield. Against Mario. At 164%, for the rest of your stock. No biggie
People really thought I wasn't the best player in the world..." -- MKLeo. Oct 23, 2022. The best SSBU players do not cry about hard MUs, they overcome them. They don't accept insults from doubters, they debunk them. They don't rage whenever they lose, they say "good game" with a smile and head back to the lab again. MKLeo is a prime example of what a top player should be like. He's such an inspiration to those who want to be good at Ultimate. He, like many, lost to a top Steve player. However, he didn't run to Twitter to say "#BANSTEVEPLEASE", for Byleth did say, "Each battle is a chance to grow." Leo took that quote and ran with it. He practiced against top Steve mains and other top players. He marched into this Invitational, put Byleth on the forefront of the battlefield, as Byleth said "Allow me to demonstrate." Leo not only dominated this tournament, he 3-0'd the best Steve in the world, TWICE, with "NO HESITATION!" as Byleth would describe him. If anyone had any doubts of who the best player was, I hope those doubts faded. MKLeo has the best mindset, the most skill, and he wins big without using a top tier. Byleth and Leo are SO GOOD, together, and that's undeniable. As much as I love good competition, MKLeo being the best SSBU player in the world makes me incredibly happy. This whole tournament gave many players something to believe in... it's breathtaking. Well done, king... well done. Note: I wrote this before, but I don't care. This is Leo I'm talking about; Imma write this again for him :)
While I agree with your comment, I do still have to say that Acola definitely got MU checked, and most of the games were close, so I expect Acola do a lot better the next time they meet. I feel like Acola and Sparg0 are tied for top 2 rn in terms of player skill. In terms of pure results, Acola's currently still the best.
@@bluyu johns for acola are sad. I mean leo is really famous for playing byleth. You can easily study all of his matches to see whats going on that Character especific MU. Just like Leo studied steve. Thats the point of high level play. Studying your enemies
@@wolfking4430 huh. i interpreted it to mean that this tournament would be his swansong until his return in december: a great final performance to shut everyone up in the meantime
I thought it was a JoJo reference - he's even got a tweet on his Twitter replying to someone sending him a picture of Gold Experience Requiem from JJBA. Iirc he's like a complete anime/japanese superfan so I didn't put it above him for any reason 😂
Everyone: **talking smack about mkleo being washed** Mkleo beating the dog shit outta everyone at Ludwig: you think I like hurting you like this?! Do your thing king. The masses gotta be silenced..... y viva Mexico cabrones
Love seeing those disrespectful tweets at the beginning. Leo’s win was never in doubt. Only person who could have given Leo a tougher battle is Sparg0 but that’s the way it goes
@@gaschum681 No. Zero had NO real competition and when competition got rough he retired before his legacy would be ruined. Smart move, but he is not that good. In Ultimate there are more and more people rising to the top. Competence is really tough yet Leo remains 1#
@@Yokai_Yuri Zero make it seem like he did not have any competition because nobody was on his level, Zero won because he was far better than everybody else, but I still think Leo was a better player for his dominance in ultimate and the fact that he was able to beat Zero and get 2nd best in the world on all time rankings of smash 4 (Thats basically number 1 because Zero retired) Both are extremelly skilled at their game and are indisputed 1 in each one because of theie skill
A documentary of MKLeo will be incredible when it happens, but also a bittersweet one at the end. I speak for myself, but maybe for some it is the same. If MKLeo ever retires from smash, a lot of fans of the competitive community will feel like leaving with him. Thanks GOAT.
MKLeo me alegra los fines de semanas desde hace unos 3 años seguidos, siempre veo todos los torneos en los cuales juegas y me alegra verte ganar. Disfruta tu break para poder seguir viendote!!!.
21:50 - 22:06 was definitely one of the highlights of this run. The spacing is incredible, with so much damage on Byleth against a pro player that was the first one to take a match off of Leo. That's pure confidence.
This guy is insanely fun to watch. Dude’s got Smash down to more than a science; he’s got it down psychologically as well. I really can’t add anything more than what’s already been said: he’s the best.
It's insane how some people would think Leo is washed just because he isn't getting carried by a broken character like Steve. Man just omega-stomped everyone on this tournament with Byleth.
He even stomped the best Steve main in the world. He not only proved that he is the best, but he also proved that Steve is 100% beatable if you're good at the game. Him getting two 3-0s on Acola was the ultimate "get good" moment to all of the people who whined about Steve destroying the meta lol
I'm looking forward to seeing a runback with Acola. For half this year, he was the West's public enemy #1 with every top player spending months, day in and day out, grinding the Steve matchup and analyzing every action he made in all the previously recorded battles. Seeing him reach #2 during Ludwig's invitational, given all the new players he took on, is testament to his ability to adapt despite him piloting such a controversial character to say the least. It's going to be interesting seeing the fruits of his preparation in taking you (MKLeo) on again. And even moreso, I'm super excited to see the runback with Protobanham. I thought the Winner's Finals set at Double Down between Kamui and Min Min was a work of art, despite you having a mountain to climb. It was an incredible depiction of a desperate struggle between the hero and her rival. Even if it's friendlies (since there's no point in making things more difficult to win a tourney), I'd love to see a rematch of that matchup. If not, well, the old set is still interesting to watch every now and then. Otherwise congratulations on the redemption and I'm definitely looking forward to the continuation of this storyline. And kudos to Ludwig for the tourney and especially his commentary. Coming in ignorant yet curious with incredible observation skills allowed him to ask questions that made the commentary 10x more insightful and kept the commentary crew focused when they were way too relaxed and unfocused before he joined the couch.
Haters who never amounted anything substantial in their miserable lives always gonna try to take you down to their low level. Dont give in to the haters Leo, you are the Goat mayun
I know when people see some guy doing some amazing play they think they are the best. Or when some guy rises to nearby top ranking people thik its just a matter of time before they are the best. Then there is Leo. This young man is what a true prodigy is, and his understanding of the game is on its own level. What is most scary about leo is his consistency. He has been on the top of the mountain since 2019
I’ll add one final comment. Yes, I’ve also been one to agree that Acola got MU checked here, but let’s not forget his other sets weren’t just 3-0 either (and he lost to Zomba), even though he’s playing the “broken” character. Acola’s got a long way to go before I’ll start comparing him to Leo
I always knew Byleth was good I never felt the character was bad, I just didn't use him/her correctly in a match. Seeing Leo go ham with them is really hype
21:51 Those 2 evasive sling shot's in the corner at death percent! Leo did not want to lose another game. He was was so close to a Pefect 100% Run Tournament!=O
Never doubted the King. Well deserved win and once again you proved to everyone you are uncontested. More so now with different characters in your pocket. Love it! FORMA DE LEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOO!
Leo is the only player I’ve ever seen that drops his main that basically dominated the whole competition, he basically nerfed himself what a fucking legend
Alright, if anyone wants some kill stats for nerds, I've gotcha. Here's what moves Byleth killed with, and the number of times it happened (NOTE: these numbers will include the Scend set that is not featured in the vid. I'll make a note per move for this): Up air: 12 (Of these, 10 are the fabled MKLayup, AKA D-tilt into U-Air, and 1 of those was from the Scend set) Forward air: 11 (1 from Scend) Back air: 10 ( The Scend set is 3 of these and the coveted Up-B to Bair happened 4 times, with 1 of them being on Scend) Side B: 5 (1 from Scend) Up Smash: 4 (1 from Scend) Down Smash: 3 (2 of these were air dodge reads, 1 was a tech chase) Dash Attack: 2 (Only 1 was from a Nair) Forward Tilt: 2 (1 from Scend) Then 1 each for Down air, Down Tilt, Up Tilt, Neutral B, Back Throw, and Up B Spike from Scend. That makes Jab, Forward Smash, Neutral Air, and Down B (plus all of the other throws) as the only moves he didn't kill with. The Joker killed with: 2 Back Air 1 Forward Air 1 Forward Smash 1 Up Smash 1 Down Smash 1 Neutral B (The sequence this was a part of was one of, if not THE slickest Joker clip ever) 1 Side B 1 Dash Attack Aegis had: 3 Back Air 2 Up air (With 1 MKLayup) 2 Jab 1 Down Air 1 Forward Air (The only Mythra kill)
Haters were waiting the minimal chance to show their ejvy, and now they have to swallow it all again. Congratulations king, I swear, every time I see you play I just think there might not be another one this good ever again in smash
There are so many reasons why this makes myself and others happy. But the fact that those who called Leo washed have been silenced so perfectly, is sweet sweet icing on the top of the cake ^^
I like how everyone gets smacked by Byleth and Pyra/Mithra but Leo brings out Joker to punish Dabuz’s for going Min Min. 😂 Which is funny cause pretty much Dabuz gets to fight Joker now every time. Good. Lucky him.
once against cosmos once against dabuzz twice against asimo once against sonix twice against acola those are the times that Leo placed so much pressure on their oponents that just him standing still, pushed them to make a mistake that would cost them a stock, out of pure, raw, intimidation. what a madman.
great job mkleo. but do be careful, mkleo being on top is great and all but i'm scared of the what-ifs and want mkleo to be more secure with the top position just in case.
Watching after Genesis X where Leo got 25th to feel better about life...he may not be the best anymore but to me this tournament really proves that at one point in time, he truly was head and shoulders above everyone else
I'll be honest, I was voting for Kurama through the whole tournament the moment he 3-0'd Gluto, but hype behind Leo almost having a perfect tournament was so surreal. Everyone else best take advantage of your absence while they can.
Dude how tf do you get your spacing this good??? Seriously it's like he got autospacing like 70-80% of the time. But he takes it even further with pressure then capitalizes as soon as you make a mistake. He's a beast with spacing, pressure, and influence. That's why everyone he faces seems tense while he's just chill.
Hey Leo fun fact: I've been using the tag "Requiem" (capital R) since 2020. Inspiration for it is its meaning for "Mass of the Dead" and also that "Requiem" by Verdi is one of my favorite symphonic pieces (I used to play the violin a lot). Now I have to explain to people that I've been using it well before you debuted with it, and not trying to copy haha. Also doesn't help Byleth is one of my mains. RIP will probably go by a different tag now lmao
