Believe it or not my favourite thing about this game was the feeling of political influence and power it get you. People called the side content busy work, but I found it engaging, the alliances you secure, all the things you do at the war table and even the mines you mark down. No game since has given me the same feeling of earned influence.

@@yungwells6549 a game that imo gives you this feeling is Owlcat's pathfinder:kingmaker. There are some design decision that are questionable, and it is based off pathfinder 1st edition which is a complicated system, but its a crpg(like baldurs gate or dragon age origins) that really lets you feel like you're growing from a small 1 town barony to an entire kingdom, while not being a strategy game but a party based rpg that with a wartable like mechanic similar to DA inquisition. Their 2nd game pathfinder:wrath of the righteous adds in a simple heroes of might and magic like combat for unit v unit army battles separate from the party rpg system. I am a big fan of both these games for rpgs that also feel like you're leading a kingdom but are not directly strategy games like totalwar, starcraft or crusader kings.

I’m replaying the game right now and I can’t stop being enchanted by the animation! Not necessarily the cutscenes, mine you, prior DA games do much better since they have more dynamic camera movement, but the animations of the characters while you’re playing them is amazing- like the walking and running animation is good, but the way they lean to the side with their hand out when walking along a steep slope, or lift their knees higher when going up steep hills. Hell, I’m playing a two handed warrior and the way he braces his great sword against his knee is so cool to me. Idk it’s such a small think but it makes gameplay so pleasing to look at, especially for a decade old game.
@JazzzRockFuzion
@JazzzRockFuzion 7 месяцев назад
I’m actually about 25 hours into a new playthrough of DA:I right now and am astonished about how much this game gets *right* ! The inventory and party management system is elegant, logical and intuitive. The story, voice acting, companions and dialogue are memorable and motivating. Combat, while not earth-shattering, is respectable, engaging and occasionally challenging. Graphics and art style are amazing! Geographic regions and maps are stellar. Hell, even most of the minor side quests tie nicely into the narrative flow/momentum of the overall story and power curve of your character. It’s always been a 9/10 game for me - my recent return to it only reinforces that opinion…if anything, it’s aged remarkably well!
@thedustinsmile
@thedustinsmile 6 месяцев назад
I'm playing through currently. I agree with most of what you said. But the inventory system needs a full overhaul. It's unnecessarily tedious and way too much work. Normally, I love changing gear often, but it makes it too much of a job. Don't get me started on crafting. You can't check your current armor specs while crafting. You have to exit crafting and open the inventory, then go back into crafting. Then you have to do this for every character. It wasn't well thought out. Great game tho, I only have minor issues tbh. Like how dark they make the background while tinting armor. I can't tell half the time bc it's too dark, then it in the world it's a completely different color. If they can make some quality of life improvements for dread wolf, it' could be perfect.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say something positive about DA2 before. The entire game consists of slogging through the same exact two caves over and over again. It was one of my favorite games that year. Good world building, good story, decent writing, great companions, combat is good enough etc. Just a bit too... Ubisoft-ish in some respects. I kind of liked the combat system where you auto attack and have spells to deploy. Controlling the entire party etc. Good stuff. And they do a very good job of giving the feeling of building up an organization. But yeah, the horses are slow for same reason in Skyrim, one, I'm not sure the engine and hardware of the time could stream it sufficiently, and two, you'd realize how small the world actually is. There's actually a decent amount of great side content in the game. Just tons more fetch quests and crap like that.

@chapserenazula5657 4 месяца назад
I just want to say in this game YOU DO NOT have to do any side quest and you'll be completely fine. There are many fetch quest that amount to good lore but not much to the present conflict at hand. Once you get inquisition level 6 you can get power for coin and skip doing side quest from that point on. Almost all the side quest are just lore material. If you just wanna play the game casually I'd say do your Companion and Main Missions and for challenges fight the High Dragons in each region. None of the side quest outside that impact the story the way they do in mass effect. Also DO NOT neglect your companions lol actually talk to them for your sake.

Personally i have a special place in my heart for DAI. This is one of the game that i have a lot of fun playing. The music is amazing. And to me the best thing about DAI is the crafting system. I wish more game use the same crafting system as in this game. The only game that use the system is GreedFall. Please don't let it die.

Dragon Age Inquisition is to this day my favorite game. It definitely has its issues, namely its combat and some of the side quests, but the world building, story, and the characters made this game so good to me. At this point this game is so nostalgic and comforting to me. I still go back every so often to start a new playthrough. I only worry about the next game considering the issues at Bioware currently.

There’s been bunch of criticism over the years about DA:I’s “fetch” quests. First, these quests are rarely part of the main story and hence, skippable. If they annoy you, don’t do them. End of problem. Second, DA:I takes crap in this area when other open-world games don’t. Case in point: RDR2. That game is the king of fetch quests. There are hundreds of nitnoy things you need collect or do to 100% that game-some of which you will never find without a guide (I’m looking at you wall paintings). Yet I’ve never seen RDR2 get slammed for this-just praised about “world building” and “immersion.” It’s legit to complain about b.s. things you have to do to progress the story but if it’s optional, feel free to just move on down the road.

I don't think DAI has unfavor criticism. Even the creators have come out saying they were pushed into cutting down on story content and beefing up filler content because story cost too much. Most long time Bioware fans did not like DAI at the time. It's just that the game going in a more generic direction appeased non Bioware fans and the general gaming community who had a much larger voice. Now that the general public moved on the long time fans have a bigger percentage of the voice being heard.

One thing with Dragon Age 3 that made it hard for me to get into was that I am just kinda sick of the combat options. I have played so many games where you just swing a sword aorund that I don't find any of the classes enthralling. Let me use a halberd, a flail, katar and pata, or a set spectral demon arms that tear through the veil to pummel enemies. I am sick of swords staves and boards.

I like inqusition, it’s the game I put the most hours into as a teenager and my first dragin age game. But I miss the dark fantasy aspect of old bioware. Feels like everything that used to be mature and gritty got polished and drowned out with the PG-13 stuff. Still I loved the semi-open world and the politics of the game, building up our own castle, and LOVED how they handled Solas. I’m looking forward to DA4 but I’m very skeptical given the recent news, drama, and change within bioware.I honestly don’t know if they have what it takes to make another genre defining game.

@@omen3789 I definitely made it beyond the beginning of the game. If I had to guess, I would guess I was about half way through. I remember the war map, and needing to travel to different regions for some objective when I left off, though I don't remember why. I only remember bits and pieces of the game, not enough to make any sense of it now. @@nunyobiznez875 I would recommend starting a new playthrough and doing different quests on the fly. Maybe there is stuff you've missed on your first save. It took me 5 attempts to finally complete the game. Each time with a different class but I settled down for mage. The beginning of each playthrough was boring af but after that I actually enjoyed it. There is a lot of quests you can just skip and won't impact the outcome. Also there are many lore videos for the DA series. I'd recommend watching them and catch up to the end of DA2 and then start a new game. Watching any DAI videos could spoil you the story. But I can fully understand not doing this. It's just my opinion.
