This movie thanks to Christopher Nolan has one of the best scenarios and dialogue scenes in general so it's your fault if you can't understand it and not the movies.

Yes, please watch BATMAN BEGINS. Not only does it add context to the characters and themes of THE DARK KNIGHT, but elements have a direct link to characters and events in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. You'll be even more confused watching that movie if you haven't watched BATMAN BEGINS first.

I've heard it best described as "Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy) brought Batman into the real world and Matt Reeves (The Batman 2022) made Batman's world real." I think that that is the perfect description between the two versions. Also I believe that the point of the coin toss is to show that Harvey Dent "the man" died with Rachel and now he has forsaken his ability to choose for himself what is right and what is wrong. Also this was a great, entertaining and funny reaction as per usual! 🙂

He said that when he talks to people they are often surprised by the fact that he can remember enough jokes, and the way he has to say each one, to fill several hours of stand up comedy. That people ask him how he can possibly do that. He said that only someone who is not a comedian would ask that, because a comedian knows that the jokes are literally all a comedian has to remember. That is all they do. I think the same thing applies to villains and evil schemes.

I highly recommend Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. It's the best Batman movie ever made. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are the definitive Batman and Joker.

I could see how you could be a little bit confused at the beginning just because this is the second movie in a trilogy and you didn’t watch the first one. But I also do think that this movie can be understood on its own. It feels like you needed to settle into the world a little bit. As for The Batman with Robert Pattinson, I didn’t like it. It looked great and the acting was good but it was far too long and the conclusion to the riddler storyline wasn’t very good to me.

The Batman, and The Dark Knight trilogy are two very different stories. I love both, and to me it's not fair to compare them. The Dark Knight is amazing, but it's kinda the over the time classic version of batman where the stakes are extraordinarily high. The Batman is more of a gritty understated noir detective film.

Part of the fun of watching tense thriller movies is taking everything in and trying to guess whatll happen next. Movies shouldn't have to spell everything out for you or be mindless action for the entire runtime.

I agree. Seeing the first one first would have been helpful. And you are also correct THE DARK KNIGHT is the best of the 3. It is by a long shot and as you and everyone else recognizes, it is all due to Heath Ledger's Joker. That is what took it from being just another standard and silly comic book movie into the category of great cinema, worthy of Academy Award recognition. So you have now seen the best. And everything else in the franchise should be anticlimactic for you So watch them if you like. I predict they will bore you to tears as they did me (and I saw them in order).

Until this point, it was clear which Batman movie was the best, and that was Batman, the Michael Keaton version and Batman Returns, as dark as it was (I love it for that) was highly underrated. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were made to sell toys and alleviate whiny parents who grew up with far scarier movies who thought Batman Returns wasn't kid friendly enough. So we got 2 of the worst. This movie is great, but I still put Michael Keaton up top as the best Batman actor. Whether he's Bruce Wayne or the Caped Crusader, he's not too over the top and he's believable in both roles. Christian Bale is good, but his Bruce Wayne is a bit too obvious that he's overcompensating and people would get suspicious. He also does that stupid voice that I have a hard time getting past. As a movie, though, it's Oscar worthy. It's shot with very little CGI and those chase scenes are no different. 95% practical effects. Like Terminator 2, if they wanted to show a vehicle crash, they literally got real ones to do it. Christopher Nolan, like James Cameron, didn't get lazy with the action scenes. Sure, there was some CG used to enhance things, but almost all of what you're looking at is actually there. This movie was shot in IMAX and while I haven't seen in at a theatre, it probably looks unreal. RIP Heath Ledger, who proved that he was more than just another Channing Tatum.

The newer Batman movie "The Batman" is really a different vibe. It is well-done and I liked it. It still doesn't really click as consistently as this movie. But it was good.

If you wants just action then i really dont recommended to watch the sequel Dark knight Rises because the pacing in that movie is slower than this one..and talk a lot about ideology which i can tell it would confuse you since you don't care.

Funny you mention the mask from Scream. I don't know about the clown masks from this, but the Scream mask was originally a cheap Halloween mask that was part of a series of different faces and colors. I really wish I kept the ones I had as a kid. If I misunderstood what you said, disregard what I said, and hope it's not taken as mansplaining. I just like trivia like that, and thought I'd share in case you didn't know.

Batman Begins is too good not to react to it, that's the Batman movie about Batman. This one was about the Joker and the great late Heath Ledger, may his work live on and be appreciated through the ages.

Agreed. I think Jared Lehto is weird as heck. I also think his acting is extremely bad. Seen ALOT of his movies and he always seems like he is acting rather than portraying characters to make them believable. Prefontaine is probably the best movie role he did.

I think the passing of Heath Ledger made his Joker character the best of all time. If he was still around they'd probably pay him millions of dollars to "pass the torch" to some undeserving loser like they're trying to do with Johnny Depp.

IMHO, the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy (specifically this film) is the gold standard for Batman films. Heath Ledger's performance being one of the many reasons for that. His Joker is the quintessential "Clown Prince of Crime" and "Agent of Chaos." I was less impressed with 'The Batman' recent film. I just happen to have the opinion that this film has the best writing, acting, cinematography, etc. of any version of Batman.

When the hospital blew up, that was real! No CGI there! 😍💣💥 And, you’re right, Heath Ledger’s reaction was not scripted. The SFX detonator malfunctioned, and he fuddled with it for a sec, then the explosions went off!

I always thought of Batman as the villain in these movies. His moral compass is skewed toward preserving the status quo and keeping his own sketchy behavior - he is a vigilante who went around punking petty criminals and wooing a woman who was in a relationship with his 'friend' Harvey - not toward improving the lives of the people of Gotham. Like real life billionaires who donate money to save the world that they helped to destroy, if only to justify their existence.

Alot of people think this is the greatest Batman movie ever made. I like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, I did not like The Dark Knight Rises. One weakness to this whole trilogy was the fighting. I really thought Ben Affleck's Batman was very fresh take on the character. We have the origin story time and time again. I thought it was really cool to see a Batman on the other side of this. A Batman who has been doing this for decades, someone who has clearly been to hell and back a couple times. Now I understand those movies are not great but again I thought it was a fresh concept

She explained at the beginning that she wasn’t a fan of DC superheroes. So I kinda understand the lack of interest early on. Somewhere along the way it won her over though. So maybe she will go back and watch Batman Begins. If all the negative comments don’t turn her off of this franchise completely.
