This was one of the most interesting places I've ever visited! Are you going to go? I stayed at a Govt. run hotel right on the crater, which was the opposite experience of this, watch it next ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u3RC4Tt0ezs.html. Tour guide was Amol Sardar +91 997 544 7088. This video was not sponsored (I've never ever done one actually!).
I missed this man, I live nearby this place if I would have known you are coming I would love to meet you there. I really missed this time man. Let me know next time you come here
I had been twice at this place on my way to nagpur...but couldn't explore like Karl....been up to first shiva temple in summer and had child water...❤ u Karl for this unseen footages 😊
Hello Karl, you have done a great job. I know about lonar lake from my childhood but never saw any exploring videos about it. Also Amol's phone number will be a great help for me. I hope to visit there sometime. Great going.
I can imagine you coming back home after a long day of work of f-ing off scammers in my city of Kolkata, sitting down, having a beer and a pizza watching Karl's vlog but I still can't see your face. When I try hard, it just comes as blurred 😶
There are lots of things in India that you don't know, apart from the scammers who you bust 😅 This is a huge country, and it's really diverse and beautiful. You can call India a Europe of the East.
Hes solving the ugly crisis of India and you are balming him?.......Well and there is not enough info for you to judge that he judges India@@anootoshsarkar686
@@anootoshsarkar686you are wrong. There are many times he praised India in his video. He also knows a decent amount about modern India. He definitely doesn’t think India is full of scammers
Wow, Lonar is my hometown, I'm really glad that someone like Karl got to see the crater, there are so many legends around this one.. and I must say one of the most underrated places in India, If you ever go to the place take a walk around the whole crater its really an amazing experience, you'll encounter some monkeys, peacocks and various kinds of insects and birds, the smell is bit horrid but some locals take a dive in it as its holy place, there are many ancient temples around and as I said many legends associated to them. Fun Fact: In 2020 around peak of the Summer the water of the crater turned pink due to the low levels, it was lockdown but we still managed to go there and witnessed pink amazing crater..!
It has been assumed that the absence of rain, less human interference (owing to lockdown) and high temperature resulted in the evaporation of water which increased its salinity and pH and due to a large presence of the salt-loving 'Haloarchaea' microbes. The colour of the lake water turned pink
He's an amazing guide with multi-faceted knowledge about culture, history, science, and wildlife. Always wanted to go to Lonar! Thanks for the great video!
I am staying just 200 km from Lonar Lake. I have always planned to visit it but somehow was never able to. Taking inspiration from your video now I will definitely visit it..
I'm from India but live in California. Had heard of this place but didn't know anything more than the fact that it was a lake created by the impact of a meteorite. Watched this video with my thirteen year old son who is an avid traveler and loves geography and science. We both enjoyed the scientific, geographical, historic and mythological aspect of Lonar, so well explained by Amolji. Thanks for this gem of a video, Karl! Please continue introducing us to such little known places.
Coz your main focus was not explore india. Your main focus to leave india as soon as possible. Its funny we have foreigners exploring india more whereas indians just leave and serve other countries 😅
@@silvershroud6263 My middle class parents in India were only interested in getting me, their younger daughter, married off and the only other option I got was when one of the campuses of the Univ of California awarded me an International Student Fellowship (full tuition + TA/RA position) to do my PhD there. So basically I got paid by a world class university to study and do my research. Why would I not take that opportunity?
India just keeps giving gems thanks to Karl and Manisha we get to see them all what an amazing country India really is much love and respect from England
India is a mini world. You will find desert, snow caped mountain, forest, valleys, ancient cites, lots of things. India is a place of varied nature. Always feel proud to be part of this holy land. 🇮🇳🇮🇳
The info provided by the Guide made the video more interesting. I recommend taking local tour guides whenever possible as they add so much value to the places you visit.
As a science enthusiast, this vlog was amazing! I loved the little crumbs of knowledge the guide threw in, and the sites of the ancient temples awoke in me a strange sense of nostalgia
Incredible India ehh! Absolutely amazing, incredible. Been with you on your journeys for quite a while now Karl through the town's and cities of India, Pakistan etc but this content right here, you and your wife touring all the ancient sites, the sites etc mentioned in the Mahabharata and other ancient texts is literally just mind blowing for me! There is so much of humanities history hidden from us especially in the west but not in India as most of these ancient sites mentioned in the ancient texts have been preserved and can be brought back to life by just visiting them. Thanks so much you guys 🙏 💞 much love from Ireland 🇮🇪
fantastic video.-I had not heard of this place before. being able to have the hindi commentary translated was super interesting. he is a knowledgable man. There is no place like India. I am an american who met my french wife while we were separately backpacking through India and Nepal. India will always be in my heart- Hari Om
Mind Boggling place India is.. When i think about ancient India, it blows my mind, Back then how rich & advance our culture were. And some of parts in mythology are in ongoing research which is quite fascinating. If ruler weren't invent us, Places like these should have been world treasures. I felt bad for my Country actually. "Good Documentary".
All I saw was crater pictures here and there, and I never knew there was so much going on around the crater and nearby places. Thanks for the video. I learnt a lot.
Thank you for sharing this incredible place Karl & Manisha I was in Kerala & Goa in 2019 staying with friends but would have loved to have travelled more of these Ancient Sites 🙏🏻
I had not heard of this place and yet it seems so familiar. Every bit of it felt familiar, like I have been there before, lived there as a small girl in another life or something (and, no, I haven’t played any video games as you mentioned). It just felt so familiar. Wild and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for exploring this place. Many people in Maharashtra itself might have not visited here . I hope we realise we have all the things in India itself. Let's promote and support local tourism first
Thanks, I'm really surprised by the feedback. I'll do some more in-depth vlogs like this. It really needs an incredible location like this. I'm gonna do some long 90 minute vlogs later this year... just gotta edit em! It's a big job.
Well I look forward to seeing what you plan later@@KarlRock ! (my vote is Barabar Caves - intriguing with a lot of mystery as to how they could have been made with such perfection!)
Lemme tell ya, trekking through Lonar Lake in good ol' Maharashtra is like taking a wild ride in your own time machine! Picture this: you're stompin' through the ancient, rugged terrain, and suddenly, boom, you're surrounded by this mind-boggling, jaw-droppin' meteorite-formed lake that's been chillin' there for a cool 52,000 years. It's like Mother Nature herself decided to throw in a twist, giving you a glimpse of the past that's so darn epic, even my flashy billboards couldn't compete!
Really interesting "documentary", Karl! Not only the nature is beautiful there, but also the religious part related to the temples and the scientific part related to the meteorite and the transformation of the area, with the different magnetic field. It was almost like being there, although being there would be amazing.
Rashtrakutas ❤️ Our Kannadigas Pride... Lots of love from Karnataka to Maharashtra ❤ There's more than Lakhs and lakhs of Ancient Unparalleled Temples and Holy shrines to explore... Proud of our Ancestors following Sanatana Dharma 🕉️...
Maharashtra is such an amazing State! Never knew about this crater..so beautiful and mysterious with all those ancient temples. Incredible India indeed. Thanks for the great vlog.
Maharashtra is full of such beautiful sights! Glad you two had such a good time visiting the crater and Lonar Lake. When you're back in Mumbai, do visit the beautiful new Nita and Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. It's incredible. Greetings to you both. Jai Hind and Kia Kaha!🙏
Karl, Excellent video/tour of LONAR LAKE ! First question to my mind, where did they quarry all that stone used for building, etc. ? From the crater itself ? Also, where did the all/most of these workers come from ? Amazing !! Thank you both for sharing, and all the best from the U.S.
Ancient Indian Kings used to have superhuman beings like oversized intelligent animals, called as 'Yaksha, Gandharvas, Naagas' ... they used to serve the kings and build huge temples with precision, they never used to come out in open... in India they still have the remains of their bastions in many places as they were employed by different dynasties
They probably had a great network of ferrying things around be it goods, construction material or maybe people as well. Who knows the town that has settled nearby had been settled for that actual purpose but people just forget that fact or the documentation got destroyed in a course of time.
If that was the case their skeletons would have been found and they would have had their offsprings living with us today. Just pause and think what you are saying. To achieve this superhuman strength is not necessary - Pulley system, knowledge of mechanical engineering and architecture is necessary. Another very important thing is the vision of the kings - to harness water and create step wells for the people. It's a work of intelligence, not brute strength. @@samayvyateet

Nice video Karl! I think at 8:52 he mentioned that the 2nd part is the vimana marg (aeroplane passage)/ anataral (space) that connects the Earth area (ritual area) and the heaven area (for the deity).
Ever since i knew about this crater i wanted to go there. But my possibilities to go there is very low... So thank you for this detailed video...the guide also did a great job...
Finally someone is exploring Vidarbha region. Thanks karl and please visit places nearby amaravati, nagpur, chandrapur, bhandara gondia and jabalpur in madhya pradesh Vidarbha has also blessed with best national park.
Glad you had such a knowledgeable guide, i ignored the myth and took in the scientific stuff, never would have figured it out by myself. Awesome video, loved it. Generally i hate guides, first time loved it due to abundance of knowledge and route taken..
Pretty scary to see so many of these massive craters from thousands of years ago. makes me worried about what the impact of something this huge would be today. I never heard of this one.
Wow. This is so amazing to know about this awesome and mysterious place in india...frankly first time im hearing about it and seeing this ..thanks for sharing this
I also visited Lonar Crater and the guide was him. He told us many scientific things about this crator. There are 15 temples in the Lonar and the carvings on those temples gives you idea of our Ancient India. I saw one carving in which woman wear fashionable dress with goggle.
Your tour guide needs a separate RU-vid channel of his own. 😄That guy is so knowledgeable! Anyway, interesting video. Just a request, carry some torches next time you visit any ancient site. The first temple was so dark, we could see nothing.
@@raiideas Where did respect come in this? 😂 Phone flash lights are not focused light, try using a phone flash inside a dark room you will know! While visiting ancient monuments, usually the tour guide carries torch light with them. That is what I was talking about.
Beautiful video and wonderfully guided by Mr. Amol ji. Just a small addition on magnetosomes, they are not microorganisms, MAgnetosomes are actually membranous organelles found in magnetotactic bacteria found in these regions. These organelles help in sequestering iron in it, biomineralize this iron to magnetic crystals or nanoparticles. Its really very interesting to study. The pink colour change that had occurred in Lonar lake was due to a group of microorganisms called 'Haloarchaea' , which produced pink pigment and which are salt loving, as its shown here that the pH is highly alkaline. I had missed a chance to visit Lonar lake when I was around, would have loved to learn more about the microbiology of the place but couldn't come here as I had to leave for some other work, but hope to visit this place once. Great video!!!
My father is the in charge for Lonar Crater Development Authority and the dept didn't knew you were coming if they knew they would've done special arrangements for you to view the crater more efficiently coz being a youtuber you are definitely promoting the place for more and more tourists to come which would def boost the tourism of the place so next time he would be happy to help and make special arrangements for you !!
Wow Thanks Karl For showing this I have never seen something like this before so cool i would not want to go down there alone either amazing place thanks so very much for taking us along with you enjoy this ..Much Love from Canada
