Hello!
I went to a car boot and found some fantastic bargains there!
I haven’t been to a car boot for such a long time, but as a part time eBay reseller I am always looking for different ways to find items to resell.
This car boot did not disappoint and I found a lot of items very reasonably priced so I can sell on for profit.
I hope you enjoy the video!
Take care!

Lead crystal is not always marked. The best test is to see if it sings. The "ping" test is a way to identify lead crystal by flicking it with your fingernail to see if it produces a ringing tone. If the ring is longer and more pronounced, the glass likely contains lead. There are videos on RU-vid explaining this with demonstrations. But don't throw it out if it doesn't sing. 😊 There are loads of vintage glass that will out sell lead crystal. Good luck! 😊❤😊❤

Thank you for the comment! 🙂 There are so many pieces of crystal glass out there that aren’t signed, but I still pick them up because they usually do really well. I’d never throw glass out, it will always sell. So much glass out there to choose from! Thank you 🙂

Congratulations on a fabulous haul! The Radio Glass Japan pieces that you have look like Horiguchi or Sasaki Etched Bamboo from the 1950's. It's very light weight, but it is considered crystal. There may be different requirements for lead content in Europe than there are in Japan for something to be considered crystal, but I have always seen them identified as crystal. You could try putting your thumb and index finger on either side of the lip and then pulling them quickly upward and off the glass to see if you can hear the ringing sound of crystal. The design on the small vase you have is called hobstar. To me, it looks like American Brilliant Period (ABP) cut glass crystal. They are not usually signed. If you happened to get one that was signed, then it will command a higher price, unsurprisingly. I think you may have other pieces of ABP given the hobstar pattern, which is often seen on ABP. You may have identified them all by now, but just thought I would let you know what I am seeing in case it's useful. You have a good eye!

@@blackcountryreseller Thank you for your videos and for making me think a bit more about the Japanese glasses you have. As I said, I have always seen these described as crystal, but you are quite right that they just don't have the weight that we associate with crystal, which should consist of at least 24% lead. So I did some digging and found out that some glass contains lead -- but not enough lead to qualify as crystal. Glass with some lead content, but not 24% or more is called "fine glass." I went on Worthpoint to look for the brand you have and, sure enough, it was described as "Made by Radio Brand in Japan- Hand crafted Fine Glass." This was a full set of barware being sold by an auction house, and I think auction houses are pretty careful about making sure their descriptions are accurate. Unfortunately, I have no idea how you should price yours. Obviously, they won't make you a fortune, but I don't think you need to sell them for a song. So, somewhere between a fortune and song -- whatever that is. What I do believe is that you can confidently describe them as "vintage hand crafted fine glass." Good luck!

A bit late to the party here, but lots of crystal (and other glass) on Etsy - might be worth a look for some research. Best of luck packing these up when they sell (rather you than me! ;) )

Thank you, I’ll have a look. Yes it’s going to take a lot of bubble wrap to package them all safely 😂

The wine glass with the octagon shape is Arcaroc from France. Very popular in the 70s. That Royal Brierley bowl is lovely and certainly worth something. The blue glass vase could be Medina from Malta, Murano from Venice or even Isle of White glass! You have done so well and have a few gems there. As a Black Country girl you know the glass industry is local and could be a great source for research. When I was at school I did a study of Brierley Hill and visited Stuart Crystal. I later, as a student worked in a china shop that sold loads of lead crystal. The car boot is much cheaper than charity shops. Really enjoyed the haul and felt your excitement! good luck with your research.

Thank you for your comment, it is really helpful 🙂 I couldn’t believe what I found at the car boot, I’ve been missing out on so many things! I’m definitely in a good area for the glass industry and history, it’s brilliant! That’s lovely to hear! I bet it was a good experience working there and being around all the lead crystal glass, I would have loved that! Good memories to look back on too 🙂 Thank you for watching, I was so excited at the car boot, can’t wait for the next 😁

Great video. I’ve learned quite a lot from this about glass so will keep my eye open in future for crystal. Would be fantastic to see you in the boot doing the buying and haggling etc. Keep up the great work. I hope your items sell quick and for top dollar 👍🏻

I can not believe you have not been to car boot! You will be addicted now. Once you get used of those prices it’s hard to compare to charity shops. Especially since all the price rises. I’m lucky our local car boot does not start until 12 on a Sunday x
